Looking for a redline of this Mahar I'm drawing. I feel like the neck and chest area, the face and spines along the back are all wrong. xD

You're a more talented visual artist than I am, but I did adjust a few things as far as proportion / perspective. I think the head either needs to turn left or move closer in, and the front left would maybe need to drop down and come in? I didn't quite get that in the right spot but hopefully someone can redline for you! Art things
I definitely see what you mean! I kinda was hoping to show off the chest crystals, but I think they'll have to take a hit to make it work! We'll see!

I tried to take a shot at it.
I think part of the issue is the neck doesn't seem long enough for the position of the head. Since the Mahar has a short neck, more of the front of the body would need to be turned towards the viewer. My redline might be a little more dramatic than necessary.
I think referencing photos of lions would help, like this one or this one, where the head turn isn't as dramatic. And having a shorter neck would mean that the shoulder of the front legs would be closer to the head too.
For other tips: try determining the line of the spine first and create a grid – which I outlined in cyan. You can use the grid to determine the placement of the spines and to see which ones wouldn't be seen (the part of the cyan that's colored in indigo along the back wouldn't be seen from the front... the color's a little hard to see sorry). I did a grid for the gems too.
Thank you for your help! Your examples really help illustrate Faune's observations from earlier! I'm gonna play with the drawing shortly~

No prob! Feel free to reach out if you'd like another set of eyes. I'm not the most practiced at drawing quads, but I'm happy to offer what advice I can. :)
