Hi, and staff have noticed that you used AI to help provide you with a reference for the artwork that you're looking to purchase from an artist! Subeta and its staff strive to be supportive to our artistic community, and that means that we generally don't support using AI for any sort of "artwork", including reference images.
I strongly recommend that you read over and become familiar with our [url=https://subeta.net/help/rules.php?act=rule&id=38]rules regarding AI on-site, as it's pretty strict. We'd hate to see you get yourself into trouble by using AI in ways that violate our rules. Thanks!
Angelina, It would be helpful if you provide a link to the rules you refer to that prohibit AI images as reference images used by non-artists? Thanks!
Prussia, the rules for artists would not allow them to use the images you gave as reference images for any art intended for Subeta.
Main rules state: "Do not steal coding, art, or other copyrighted/trademarked content from any source, or attempt to redistribute such content. This can include, but is not limited to, manipulations or derivations of art, images, coding, literary works, etc. not wholly created by you. This includes AI-generated content."
This forum's rules state: "You may not sell/auction/give art that you did not create. Likewise, you may not post art that you did not create and claim it as your own. Do not steal art from any source, or attempt to redistribute stolen art. This can include, but is not limited to, manipulations or derivations of art, images, etc. not wholly created by you. This is considered art theft and doing so will result in disciplinary action. All works MUST be created by you. AI-generated works are not considered to be user-created."
I might be wrong but wouldn't posting AI "art" count as redistributing an image not created by the user unless said user coded the thing themselves and trained it on their own art?
I don't think so because people post all sorts of threads asking for sharing gifs, or pictures of animals, or holiday pictures, etc, and the staff never object to those, and no one makes their own gifs, they just post ones they found on sites for free.
Like here https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/932191/The-Happy-Giveaway/2 do you think those users took those photos of those rare animals themselves? no, they are sharing someone else's work in their posts, but that's fine... so I don't think posting images in forums counts as "redistributing" in this sense. I think it's only for when you claim you made it yourself but didn't, or when you want to use it in a pet page, custom wearable, or sell or exchange it for items of site value as a commission.
I'm not sure, though, so if you were disagreeing, you might want to open a ticket to ask.
Personally I don't use AI art or link to it if I know that's what it is, but I'm sure I could do so accidentally given how many sites on the internet use it now.
Just flatout no AI art of any kind posted on Subeta. Not even as references.

I totally understand where you're coming from! AI art is debatably stolen in-and-of itself, because the AI is trained on other folks work without permission or payment, and then generates new images using this information / these references. So the use of AI art at all is the redistribution of stolen work. Out of respect for artists, the site has chosen not to allow the use of AI art in any way. I believe there was initially an announcement or discussion board about this, but can't find it atm.
