OG post: I posted this in the specific birthday thread, but I feel more eyes will see my request if it was it's own actual post.
So on April 28th, I had to put down my 15 year old cat, Kai. It... didn't go well, at all, and his final month alive wasn't the best. I feel like a murderer and I'm filled with nothing but regret, but in tandem with making him a shrine IRL, I want to make a pet in dedication. I don't think just making one now would be appropriate, however. It needs to be one of the following dates:
January 7th 2009 He adopted us in July so we don't know when he was born, exactly, just that he wasn't fully grown and was about six months old. We gave him my mothers birthday. (Would strongly prefer a 2009, but will look at other January 7th's.)
July 29th 2009 Was the day he strolled into our lives and held us at fang point for treats. 😂 (Would very strongly prefer a 2009 but will look at other July 29th's.)
April 28th 2024 Was the day I had to put him down. Part of me would rather it not be this date as his euthanasia didn't go smoothly, but do please ping me if you find one. (No yearly substitutions. It has to be this year.)
I am so sorry for your loss, and that despite your efforts things were not as smooth or soft as you wanted them to be for him. There's nothing like the grief of losing someone you love so deeply and dearly, and there are really no words for it.

I'm so sorry. I lost my beloved basset hound last fall, and it's so hard.
I checked and don't have any of those dates, but I'll keep an eye out too.
Thank you so much for your empathy, though I am equally sorry you can relate to this pain. 🫂 Totally feel you on not being ready: When my first cat, Blackie, died (also tragically), it took two years before I could even think of owning another cat. In walked Kai-Sama. (One of his many nicknames.) I might just take you up on that offer to chat, (though I'm not sure even a therapist could handle the amount of tragedy that surrounded his illness and death.) Thank you so much for helping out with this quest. Unfortunately, Garrus's post is from 2020, (I wouldn't be surprised if it was locked for being necro'd; we should really do away with that rule, it's so 2003) and they're probably inactive, but I'll shoot them a DM all the same. 💝

I'm dreadfully sorry you lost your furbaby last autumn. 🫂 It's honestly the hardest thing and I've had medical scares over the years. Nothing hurts one more than the loss of innocent pets, especially one's you're solely responsible for. 😭😭😭

Apologies, I thought I made this post already. That said, if no one else comes forward with something closer, I'd definitely consider this pet too. If you're ever in need of space, however, do let me know and I'll take it regardless. This goes for you too, . I don't want to inconvenience anyone with what may take a month or two to find.
