For the most part Neugarten is a shopping event. No special currency just your regular sP. The shops are open during the event and the items have unlimited stock, similar to the Medicontra and GoOutside. Since the shops are only open during the event the links are to the Subetalodge lists of items they stock. The shops include:
Brewery Local Fresh Wholesome Rumis Vegan Life Shantis Sustainables
Shop themes include
-Vegan food
-Beer
-Alchohol
-German Festival and all its foods
-anything that is Local Fresh and Wholesome what more can I say
-Craft fair
-Farmers Market
Over all the theme is pretty broad. The color scheme has also been pretty broad so if you have a request for a specific color please make it. The only colors I think are unlikely to show up are neons but even those might be possible. The Brewery is the oldest shop but it doesn't see as many new items. I hope we see more there this year. The other three were added years later and have been very popular.
some popular or expensive items from past years
One last note whether you post or not if you see an idea you like don't forget to give the post a heart. I'm reasonably certain they pay attention to which ideas are getting the most attention. Though that doesn't guarantee anything.
Tips and info for the holiday
The prices in the shops range from 500sP to 300000sP so do your questing, restocking or whatever you do to gain sP before the event begins if you are planing a big shopping trip.
I know many of us become distracted and busy during the summer and are not on as often. But since this event can happen anytime between June and August just check the news from time to time.
These items almost always sell for higher prices outside of the holiday since so many of us miss it and the items are so nice or fill a gap in a collection. Another reason not to miss it but it may also be an opportunity to make a profit or stock up nice gifts for Luminaire.
One year there was a plot during Neugarten. I won't explain it because I really didn't like it and so I wasn't paying attention to it. But if you have ever wondered why Gunter is in prison ask about the Neugarten plot in the General Discussion forum or maybe Help and Questions.
Suggestion: Bring back the Drunk Gunter achievement (certainly by now he's earned a short rumspringa for good behavior?)
Food items: buckwheat flour, tahini.
(Shamelessly asking as I want to make some of my pets into recipe cards, with the ingredients in their treasure, and I need those two items for my vegan, no bake chocolate chip cookie.)
It would be fun if there was a seasonal tie in with Fantine's bakery, with some holiday recipes that require Neugarten sourced ingredients!
Though of more stuff:
Subetan folk arts and cultural cuisines could be fun to explore through Neugarten items.
Wycinanki stickers
Avatar clothing inspired by various earth/subeta folk costumes/cultures, not just the German inspired stuff.
Zombie Rrraw

I am not an achievement collector but I strongly second 's request and also request a return of the Brewery. Yes I know we can shop there every year. What I want is to start seeing new items or at the very least revamps but preferably new items.

Styles could include carpentry using rustic woods, modern minimalist woods, hand sewn beanbags, and things that could be improvised like egg crates. -dance halls in different styles for different dance styles must have polka I was picturing rooms with more depth like instead of something like this
Neugarten is always hit or miss for me in terms of style. I like the farmer's market vibes, the color palettes are usually pretty, love the beeswax wrap backgrounds. Some of the more diy/earthy items are not my style but I can appreciate the creativity that goes into the sets! I'd just like to toss in my vote for the option to get the Drunk Gunter achievements. A huge part of subeta for me is collecting achievements! Free him!! (I also understand if that's too much with all the other site changes going on & I appreciate all of the work that staff does for us <3)
I like the idea of a farmers market indoors background, coffee shop background, bakery shop background, smoothie shop background, and maybe a background with stalls that sells crafts like glass, pottery, etc 😊
I'd like some more environmental positivity stickers.
And since we've gotten cycling gear for Neugarten before, i'd love to have some new additions; helmets, mountain and road bikes, bright and colorful jerseys and cycling caps.
I would love to see your ideas but I almost hope they make it a whole new tab in the Go Outside shop so it has everything you mentioned and more and is always available.
If I knew where to make suggestions for regular shops I would.
you could start a new Go Outside thread in Suggestions and Ideas > Items. It'd be rad if Go Outside could get more love in general. Cycling, skiing/snowboarding, canoeing/kayaking, nature photography, fishing, spelunking, rock climbing. So many ways to rep outdoor recreation. 😎
Brewery Meads! Ciders! Beers! Non-Alcoholic Beers! - Represented as Growlers, Bottles, Glasses, and Cans I would love to see more "local brews" type can and bottle designs! There are SO many cool designs and funny names for local beverages and I think Subeta could have fun with that. Background inside a brewery! Background outside a brewery! Background related to mead making! Makers items like the large glass jugs for fermentation, barrels, ingredients, etc. Books that would work well in TCs with this theme! Shirts / tanktops for some of the local breweries!
I love the idea of a reformed and healed Gunter who is back and looking to have a community-centric brewery!
Other Shops Hair items - recolors of a messy bun type look Hair Items - recolors of messy braid with flowers Jewelry - different length simple charm type necklace (bee, butterfly, flowers, ladybug) Jewelry - Matching earrings Jewelry - Matching bracelets Jewelry - Matching anklets Local Foods - More honeys! Local Foods - Iced Teas (pitchers, glasses), Iced Coffees (ex: lavender vanilla), Hot Teas / Coffees Clothing - Holdable iced coffees / iced teas Local Foods - Alternative Milks Local Foods - Bags of Granola Background - Used Book Store Background - Tiny Home Background - Pollinator garden / yard Background - Some kind of environmental protest Background - Animal Sanctuary Foreground / Background items - cutouts like the "sustainable wooden" items, flower / pollinator versions of the "dusters" from Vesnali Books - personally I really like books that visually would fit in a themed TC, but obviously the primary goal of books is reading lol. "How To" books / Cook Books. Stickers - "Save The" type stickers (ex: irl there's "save the whales", "save the forests") Stickers - Env. sayings like "leave nothing but footprints" and "fish are friends not food" Clothing - flower crowns Background - hiking trail with one of those "leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories" kind of signs Books - Recipe Cards
I skimmed through the other posts and I agree that I'd like Gunter involved somehow. He just went to prison years ago and we can't even talk to him even though the option to see him is there. It's like, what's the point if you can't do anything. I've been gunning for some kind of follow-up. We had all of this build-up then the moment of "Gunter did it!" but after that, nothing.
Now that that mini-rant is over, here's some item ideas:
I agree with almost everything mentioned but with some extras.
Recipe card sets and boxes would be great as books and collectibles but what about some recipe car backgrounds? A lot of them could have nice embellishments that would make for cute frames or brackgrounds. Bunny Fox Floral Mushrooms Cardinal Geometric Jars Utensils Holly Pans Marble Peaches Treasure chest Farmer's Market
Recipe Boxes Flowers Butterflies Mushrooms Wooden Bamboo basket Treasure chest
Animal sanctuary backgrounds would be great! And some cute companions to go with them! There are tons of different kinds to choose from like those farms that take in sick/abused/retired animals or different kinds of wild animal rehab centers and coral reef restoration projects. What about centers that take place specifically on Subeta? More world-building is always a plus!
Various jams, jellies and other foods made with berries and fruits.
Organic hard candies! I see organic lollipops at my work all the time. They use real fruit to flavor and color the candy. Baking ingredients like SPRINKLES, frostings, CHIPS, and FOOD COLORS.
Organic chocolate/candy gift boxes like THESE.
Teas, coffees and juices and some handmaid tea sets and mugs. More pottery and figurines in general.
Folklore items! I really loved the fairies from last year (more of those please! Cooking/baking, painting/drawing, pottery) but Germany and Slavic myth has some amazing stories and creatures to borrow from as well as the Grimm Bros. HERE ALSO HERE
Pretty handmade jewelry, windchimes, ornaments, hair ties, baskets and other accessories made from natural supplies an reclaimed/recycled materials. Silverware jewelry Silverware wind chimes Reclaimed wind chimes Wooden wind chimes Rolling pin chimes Key necklace Watch face pendant Reclaimed denim ideas Reclaimed shirts More shirts Beach towels Drawers TV cabinets TVs Tires
Art supplies like natural paints, fabric dyes, brushes and paper/canvases, natural crayons and colored pencils, as well as items used for things like embroidery and cross-stitch.
Veta backgrounds, like the pretty shop buildings downtown or a view from one of the houses in the hills. More fermented foods. Fermented minions, like a jar of sourdough starter. Food-themed head items, like one that gives you a sandwich for a head or a pretzel.
I never liked the Gunter plot it always seemed like a cruel excuse to introduce the new shops which upsets me because I like the new shops a lot but the plot is disturbing. Another Subetan asked some very reasonable questions in the 2022 suggestion thread.
Personally if you wanted to release Gunter and pretend the plot never happened I would be ok with that but I suspect most who care about it at all want a redemption ark, answers to questions, or some other kind of ending to the story. Knowing how short handed and busy you all are I will be shocked if we get our wish this year but please plan ahead for next year.
I also didn't love that plot, it was a bit odd to me and never felt like it had resolution. Worse is that it's an unexpectedly dark cloud that still hangs over parts of Subeta. I'd love a redemption - like Gunter has been working with SAI to find a "cure" for Bubble's memory so that Bubbles and Anne can be reunited. I mean, he had gone vegan and was caring for Oatmeal before this happened, maybe part of that came about because he was already working on searching for plant-based / ancient treatments to make up for what he had done?
An interactive plot where we are given a mysterious list of items / ingredients to retrieve (by SAI) and collect them via quests or around the site would be cool but even some narrative would be wonderful. I'd love a happy ending where he was successful, SAI considers his contributions to the world-changing treatment along with the jailtime to be a sentence served, he's able to give the treatment to Bubbles who gets his memory back, he's able to apologize, he's able to reunite Anne and her father. I'm sure it could be linked with new item releases - like he opens his own stand or brings a new line of herb beers and honey wines (mead) and fruit ciders to the brewery and begins to work alongside Anne, etc. Bubbles can release new items too, even if it's just some swag from the brewery because he's so proud of his little girl.
Finish the Gunter plot.
How did Bubbles become an Unliving when he was already dead? How did Gunter explain his brother&;s death or disappearance because he got away with the murder at first? Let Anne find her father in the Underground so she doesn&;t have to keep boring her customers by offering the note for them to read. Finally, give Gunter a proper trial because the SAI being able to hold people indefinitely without a trial is a scary idea.
YES TO BOTH OF THESE!
I'm not a huge fan of revamps for items people are actively using unless they are just a matter of improving the art rather than changing the whole style of the item. Otherwise, you make it impossible for people who are still using the item for a specific purpose to continue doing so.
But the dirndls and corsets could use some upgraded art, and that yellow trim clashes so awfully with some of the colours they come in, I wouldn't cry any tears if the trim colours changed a bit. Most Oktoberfest wear is also a little more complexly patterned than that.
In addition to the Oktoberfest and Viking items, what about German Renaissance era clothing? (I used to do medieval costuming and the Viking dress and overdress outfits were really super accurate, although the brooches are too big to use easily with any other items.
I know the artists were bored with the "Oktoberfest" theme just as they used to be bored with the "steampunk" theme for Masq, but a few years ago when I pointed out that "steampunk" doesn't have to mean gears and corsets as outerwear and suggested looking to media like Hamilton and the Tudors for ideas, they ran with it and the creativity is still going strong.
Also, I wouldn't say no to improving some of the proportions on the menswear breeches and shoes. They are currently kind of awkward for some of the items. They're not quite plus size, but they're overlarge enough to make avatars that users intended to be slender look dumpy while not actually representing fat people.
This would also be a good area to strike out with plus size avatar items for both amab and afab style bodies and the full range of gender presentations and colour ways. Plus size bodies look great in Oktoberfest clothes.
I would adore more interior backdrops and furniture/props. I'm not a halo and magical SFX kind of person, I like detailed interiors. The Victorianesque ones that we've got thru various holiday shops are great but it would also nice to see a wider variety.
With respect to the food items, please do more gluten-free stuff. I have celiac disease. Unlike veganism, being gluten-free isn't a philosophical choice for most people, it's a necessity. Even if it has become a bit faddy outside of celiac sufferers (for which I'm grateful as it means more food for me)...we have to eat that way or become very ill.

I would love to see more equippable herbs and such...more homey lovely cozy summer cooking based BGs. Summery clothing and makeup, face features. more arms plz k thx. Something fun to cover the cankles of doom on the HA...farmers market stuff. Baskets to be held on modified arms.
We are the ones who remember, the ones who see what was, and is, and will be.
Me~
Thank you so much for your post. I wasn't very clear with my revamp request and I strongly agree with what you said about them. Revamps that stay true to the original with just improved art are always my preference. Also thank you for bringing up the Gluten free foods. Whether I eat that way in real life or not I have greatly enjoyed all the many foods we have on the site. Whenever I see something interesting I look it up and if possible try it, like the Pulled Jackfruit Burger I'm not vegan or vegetarian but if I ever find a good price on jackfruit I want to try making that burger.
The idea of exploring similar or related fashions to the Oktoberfest theme is very interesting. If they are inspired by it I can't wait to see what they create.
No lie, Ren faire could be a lot of fun for a theme one year. 🤩
