It would be nice if we were able to have our profile only be visible to users that are logged in, like with some other sites. It would help for people who have to worry about stalkers finding them here or who generally just want to have that privacy option available. Unfortunately, speaking from experience, there are people who are weird and creepy enough to look here or on similar sites for information, and I think it would be a good way to protect users in general. Doesn't need to be something that's like the default for everyone, but more something someone could turn on or off?

I actually didn't know that user profiles were viewable to random outsiders that don't have an account.

I support only having registered users be able to see an account.

I would support an option to toggle public visibility on or off. Personally I like that I can share stuff without having someone make an account. I can also see how others would like it hidden. My vote is for choice :)

It's fine as an option, I wouldn't care either way, but I wouldn't be for only registered users being able to see a profile. There may be people who want to share their profiles with others who have no interest in signing up, or as a way to show potential new users what they can do with their profiles.

I think a toggle would be ideal, though I am in favor of making user/pet profiles only visible when logged in.

I know what it's like to have weird little freaks trying to track you down across the online space, and it can be such a relief to have little walled gardens to unwind behind. Been there done that.

Full support of this and making it toggleable. It makes sense from a privacy perspective and also open to Satyr's suggestion of only having user profiles and pet profiles viewable when logged in.

I know that viewing profiles without logging in means that you can look at profiles of blocked users. Not a huge deal since you can't interact with the profile without being logged in, but what's the point of blocking access to blocked profiles while allowing access if you don't log in. That always seemed like a loophole that should be closed. And the only way to close it is to prevent non-users from viewing profiles.

Toggling access would be better than nothing.

Support as long as it's an opt-in thing! I personally don't mind my profiles being open to non-users (I can't stand it when you have to sign up to a site to see everything) but I can see why others would be uncomfortable with it.

What's keeping those 'weird and creepy' people from creating a dummy account and logging in? Your suggestion doesn't actually offer any protection against stalkers; it just throws a very minor obstacle their way. Better than nothing I suppose, but I'd hate for a user to mistakenly believe they were safer as a result of the change you suggest.

I really like the discussion here. I fully support an optional way to hide our profiles. Even if it isn't a large deterrent to a stalker I would like the privacy. And in more severe cases if their behavior becomes a problem on site they can be banned based on Subeta's rules.
