Hi hi.
In the past, I've had all my pets connected in some way. Not necessarily all of them connected to one another, but small groups at the very least. The problem I've had with that is that sometimes the worldbuilding gets so big, I never get around to actually developing much.
I'm thinking about individualizing it, but individual stories seems overwhelming too. In groups, there can be supporting characters - i.e., pets who I like the idea of but don't really want to develop much. But if I treat each pet individually, in my mind it feels like either develop them or toss them.
I know, I know my brain is a little too black and white on this issue. So I was wondering what other people do. Do you guys do individual pets? Groups? One big happy family?
How is that working out for you?
WOW, having ALL your pets connected story-wise is INSANELY impressive tbh....... most of mine are one offs, or vaguely connected (such as through friends blurbs).
the only ones who are EXPLICITLY connected of mine are:
Enfys, Leyn, Jakk are all in a sci-fi polycule and Hellstar and Archana are probably dating also tbh
banner by I personally have little clusters of pets related though almost everyone exists in a singular world! (Aside from Professor Layton, which I'm hoping to one day write INTO this world as best as possible while keeping his character intact!)
I even made an entire index that I listed on my profile to help me keep track of who's related to what! (Cause sometimes I get a wild hair of inspiration for a certain cluster and end up completing the set of characters related!) Then made a list of pets I need to work on to also keep track haha! And tbh I hope to add even more in the future because I enjoy writing for my silly little world!
Off topic but I absolutely love the overlays on some of your pets! They're really good!
You and Ares (Who changed their UN and I can never spell it right now.) Are the only two I've seen with insane world building connected pets. it's awe-inspiring.
I got clusters of connected pets. The Family : Kaden, Swave, Sark, Denny, Florissa, Rene, Hess, Karalin, Keener, Saemus and... Withdrawl. I'm missing a couple I know it. - They've been part of my world building for the past eh decade. But I always shove the story aside for others.
The rest of my pets are more stand alone or a few connected. Like the fanpets. Those mostly have stories and won spotlights.

Well...not all of them. There's always little groups at the very least. But I did have a huge worldbuilding group with multiple layers. It's been hacked up when I adopted out some of the pets, and it's been so long now that I'm not sure if I want to pick the story back up or if I should start all over. And then it annoys me that I have some pets that will never be in that world, such as the fan pets. XD
Aww, thank you so much! I'm so used to staring at them that I start to only see the flaws. I think Heidy's is the only one I didn't do myself, but I had a bit of help on Ember's as well.
Does it annoy you to have a pet that's not part of the world?
I wonder - do you think you shove aside the worldbuilding pets because it seems like too big an undertaking, and it's easier just to work on the one-offs?
Well I think you did fantastic! I think my favorite has to be between Zora and Coda. The colors are just so nice to look at! :3
Yes and No? If that makes sense xD I adore the one that isn't connected to my world even if I never get around to updating him proper. But I also like having space for names I /could/ use within my world! I'm crazy attached to his name and Legacy status though which is probably why it's also slightly infuriating.
My pets are mostly individual, I think. My Serpenths are loosely connected in that they're all meant to expand a little on the species itself. A few of them are actually related; but, they don't influence or appear in each other's personal stories in meaningful ways.
I find world building to be overwhelming–and I get bored easily–so I like focusing on character stories VS trying to build up new settings. All of my non-fanpets are based in Subeta, for example.
I like having a variety, so I keep a few pets that are just there to be pretty and one that's more-or-less meant to show off my collection haha. I think I'd just never work on my pets if I tried to tie them all together.
Honestly I can never just pick what part I want to show case in all of their long histories. And then I have to find a spot that is Subeta Friendly.
Withdrawl is finished with a flimsy version of his life. Since it's pretty dark for Subeta to start with.
Florissa I had to change up a bit because again, Subeta friendly and a few complained of the ending.
That has been the hardest part is not having their actual selves on their profiles.
And some have changed dramatically from first concept, like Hess who I was going to make a underground doctor who experiments and now he's a legit doctor. Keener is the Vet that Sark is smitten with after being forced to bring the family cat to. The second cat, after what happened to Quantum. (another pet tied in)
It really isn't the daunting of the world building, it's more the appropriate spot to pick and try and roll it out for a blurb and for Subeta. Yeah.

Some of them are connected in different ways ([Torwise, Sands of Time, Emhyr, Astrophy], [Fearleading, Faybelle]), others are tribute pets to things I read as a child ([Redwall, Mistmantle, Pinchester])
still tho!! REALLY impressive ;v; and yeah re: fanpets that makes a lot of sense... honestly, a revamp would be a good chance to spruce things up :0
banner by Not that any of their writing exists anymore, but I like to at least have pairs (Coo & Caw, haha & hehe, Trim & Tum) for my "character" pets.
idk & idc used to be a pair, then I added brb, lol, lmfao, & nvm. I actually like to leave the worldbuilding vague and unexplained, especially with my nonsense abbreviation characters (idk loves greasy food and idc is super into makeup yet neither have mouths or facial features... how's that work? I don't know and I don't care!)

Connected for the most part. I've recently let go of some pets that I didn't have an interest in revamping into battle pets or anything. 15 of my 22 pets are connected in a battle guild, then 4 others are connected to the commander of the battle guild as family. But my primary focus is on those 15 pets and however many more I add to that group. xD

All of my pets are their own thing, but I call them 'siblings', because they are my adopted (created) babies. I hate having characters who are too similar, making one redundant in my mind, so I write their personalities as opposite as possible. One is scary and independent, while another is super cute and baby-like, while another is graceful and wise. I haven't done much world-building yet, but I haven't had a Subeta account for very long. Over time, I will write in more details in my pets' stories. :)
