So I'm doing Quentin's Quests and am asked for a [item2=Raspberry Gear Spritzer] .
I can see that it's stocked at the Libertine Lounge; however, the pages take ages to load (for me).
It will be super helpful to know the year of release, so we can go to the required tab instead of having to load so many items & do 'Ctrl F' every time
There's a css code that puts the year at the end, somewhere in the html forums. (If you're still here, it's in 2013 )
oooh the code is great but this would also be an amazing thing to add for descriptions!
If we did this, would y'all be okay with something like I've done with unlocking challengers or transforming items, just adding at the end of a description "ADDED IN YEAR:" or something to that effect?
People have pointed out before, adding more things to the actual hover of an item slow a little bit more because it's pulling even more queries. It'd be tedious, but I wouldn't mind going back and adding something to the description of an item itself, though. :)
I actually don't think it would be necessary. If there's custom CSS one can use, then do that, but I would not want hovers to move even slower if it has to pull queries.
Personally questers shouldn't even be asking for holiday items, I think that's dumb, but I digress.

I wonder where would be a good place to advertise that specific bit of custom CSS for those that want to use it. 👀
Also yeah, that's why it's not a separate field on the hovers. Adding to description doesn't do more harm since it's already pulling the description.
Maybe a forum topic for popular user custom CSS then a box on the Custom CSS page linking to it.
[box=#FFFF00]Click here for popular user custom css blah blah blah[/box]
Yeah, I'm leaning towards that or creating a page that has all those custom code bits listed with credit and link to the original post/wherever it's mentioned. I may get a helpful user to just make the thread 👀
The description would be fine imo. Just like adding Morostide: 2023 to the beginning or end of the description
the custom css is nice but having it just built in would be amazing to not have to go out of the way to add it, especially for those who don't know that much about coding or use custom css that much.
having a thread with the "best" custom css things would be cool, but also if its a thing that all users would want making improvements directly to the site would be better imo if its a simple enough thing to add such as a little extra text to the item description
It would be very handy to just have the description:
Raspberry Gear Spritzer
Rarity: Holiday Item (175)
Description: Yummo I want three - (2019)
Official Price: 2
Recent Price: 39,000
Would suffice would that not? It gives a year, and seeing its a holiday item, a fast search we'd find what shop it comes from.
Adding the year to descriptions for every holiday item [I]will take a while[/i]. That's why I'm thinking in the short term, having the custom code CSS option will be nice for people.
I'm going to be that jerk: Start labeling with next year's round of holidays and work back as time allows for that project?
having a quick solution would be good, but even if the description thing takes a while would still be nice. agree with frederick above, even if you just start with the next holidays coming up and just slowly work your way back this would still be a great and easy quality of life improvement
Oh yeah, it's not going to be an all at once thing. It would def be like by holiday for sure.
What I had in mind was more like starting in 2024, every holiday item that goes into a shop has a shop/holiday name and year appended to the description. That way even if scheduling is tight and you guys don't have the time to go through the entire shop, 2024 items are taken care of.
