Each subsequent hydra is unlocked through an achievement prize after defeating the previous one ten times.
New loot for this year:
• This guide will mainly focus on which constant attackers, mod crystals, and infinite use scrolls you should use against each opponent. If you're unsure how to round out the rest of your weapon and scroll sets, you can find ideas here:

• Almost every opponent can be chain frozen (i.e. frozen over multiple turns with freezing scrolls). However, the last two hydras can activate a blessing that once up will prevent freezing for the rest of the battle. For the last one especially you'll want to opt for a non-freezing scroll set.
• also wishes you to remember to bring in your blasters (Recycle Blaster + Soma Tablets), especially for the later stages. Blasting two of your opponent's weapons into junk can give you some reprieve from the damage you're taking in during battle.
[box=pink]On to the guides...[/box]
Panzer Hydra Stage 1 (EASY)
[box=khaki]Panzer Hydra (Single-Headed)[/box]

This little guy is the first of the series and can be beaten by nearly any pet. It is recommended for pets at any tier.
• Its Swift Stab attack does physical (:dmg:physical:) and fire (:dmg🔥) damage. To defend against these elements, we want weapons that either block physical (:block:physical:) or block fire (:block🔥).
:block:physical:4 :dmg:physical:4 |
:block🔥4-5 :dmg:water:6 |
• Typically you'll want to pair your weapons with one infinite use scroll that you'll use for most of the battle. Ideally we want to find one that blocks physical (:block:physical:) or fire attacks (:block🔥). The best option will be finding one that blocks both and heals (:heal:) you all at the same time.
Feather Explosion :block:physical:23 :heal: 7% 20 AP |
Divine Denizhen :block:physical:3 :block🔥3 :heal: 5% 7 AP |
• If you still find yourself in need of some healing, Morosbane Scroll is fantastic option for small pets. It can heal (:heal:) 300 HP once per battle and you can equip multiples of it at a cost of 15 AP each. It can also deal out 40 light icons (:dmg:light:40) in that same turn, which will pretty much wipe that mean little hydra off the map.
Anyone should be able to beat the first stage of the Panzer Hydras if they have the right tools. Hopefully this guide helped you understand the main mechanics of making a battle strategy for a specific opponent <3
Panzer Hydra Stage 2 (HARD)
[box=khaki]Panzer Hydra (Three-Headed)[/box]

We're skipping over the medium difficulty and heading straight into the next most difficult opponent which is recommended for tier 4 or greater.
• This little guy is still fairly little, although it has grown more heads and gained more weapons. Each weapon has physical (:dmg:physical:) attack, with the next two elements, fire (:dmg🔥) and earth (:dmg:earth:), being about equally as common. We're looking for weapons that will block these icons (:block:physical::block🔥:block:earth:).
But we also have to keep in mind that the hydra's Slow Roll Scroll can block our icons too. The only elements it doesn't block are water (:dmg:water:), wind (:dmg:wind:), and ice (:dmg🧊) and ideally we want to find two weapons that use those as attack icons while also blocking the main icons that the hydra uses (:block:physical::block🔥:block:earth:).
:block:physical:6 :block:earth:6 :dmg:wind:7 :dmg🧊7 |
:block🔥15 :dmg:water:10 |
• Together the Scavenged Bow and Quiver and Water Orb do a pretty good job of blocking the main elements this hydra uses while also dealing out attack icons it won't be able to block. You can increase their defenses or attacks even more by adding mod crystals, which allow you to customize your weapons a little. You can add more icons by attaching a crystal from the respective element. For instance, if you want to add more water attack icons, you would attach a water crystal. If you wanted more physical defense, you'd add a physical defense crystal.
• While picking out our infinite use scroll we also want to find something that meets the above criteria and contains some mixture of :block:physical::block🔥:block:earth: and/or :dmg:water::dmg:wind::dmg🧊.
Feather Explosion :block:physical:23 :dmg:wind:5-8 :heal: 7% 20 AP |
Divine Denizhen :block:physical:3 :block🔥3 :block:earth:3 :block:dark:3 :block:magma:3 :heal: 5% 7 AP |
Holy Deluge :block🔥10 :block:earth:10 :dmg:water:4 :heal: 10% 20 AP |
I would proriotize using one these scrolls because they each defend against the most common icons on this hydra's weapons and can heal (:heal:) your pet each turn. Remember that Divine Denizhen and Holy Deluge can be made more cheaply at the Secluded Shrine, although Holy Deluge also requires a certain combination at the Genetech Lab.
• Morosbane Scroll is still a fantastic option here if you don't own any freezing scrolls and need to round out your scroll set. It can heal (:heal:) 300 HP once per battle and you can equip multiples of it at a cost of 15 AP each. It can also deal out 40 light icons (:dmg:light:40) in that same turn. This makes it a significantly helpful healing scroll for small pets.
Panzer Hydra Stage 3 (VERY HARD)
[box=khaki]Panzer Hydra (Five-Headed)[/box]

We're now up to five heads and heading into the very hard difficulty. This challenger is recommended for pets at tier 6 or higher.
• The hydra's weapons are getting more complex now, but their main icon types are pretty much the same. There are four weapons that do physical (:dmg:physical:) or dark damage (:dmg:dark:) and three that do fire (:dmg🔥) or magma (:dmg:magma:). Blocking these elements will be the most helpful.
• On the cheaper end of the weapon price range, these two are solid to pair together. They cover three of the most troublesome elements and both do water damage, which is one of the elements (:dmg:water::dmg:wind::dmg🧊) that the hydra's Slow Roll Scroll does not block.
:block:physical:8 :block🔥8 :dmg:water:5 |
:block🔥10 :block:magma:10 :dmg:water:7 |
• Other weapons that can be used (regardless of price range) because they contain some mixture of :block:physical::block:dark::block🔥:block:magma::block:earth::block:water: and :dmg:water::dmg:wind::dmg🧊 are:
:block:physical:16 :dmg:wind:6 |
:block:dark:10 :block🔥10 :dmg:water:3-7 |
:block:dark:8 |
:block:dark:6 :block🔥6 |
:block🔥10-14 :dmg:water:18 |
:block🔥7 :block:magma:7 :heal: 45 HP |
:block:dark::block🔥:block:magma::block:water:4 or 7 :dmg🧊8 or 12 :dmg:wind:3 or 5 :heal: 45 HP |
:block🔥6 :block:magma:6 :block:water:6 :dmg🧊6 :dmg:water:4 :dmg:wind:4 :heal: 75 HP |
:block:dark:8 :block:earth:8 :block:water:8 :heal: 60-70 HP |
:block:dark:25 :heal: 55 HP |
:block:dark:20 :dmg🧊6 :dmg:water:6 :dmg:wind:6 :heal: 65 HP |
:block🔥25 :heal: 50 HP |
• The choice of which mod crystals to use is up to you! Personally, I would attach crystals that add physical, dark, fire, magma, or earth (:block:physical::block:dark::block🔥:block:magma::block:earth:) defense icons to decrease the amount of damage you are taking in per turn. You don't have to worry about freezing or stealing here so crystals that defend against those aren't necessary.
• Finally, for the choice of an infinite use scroll, we need to find something that blocks the most common icons on the hydra's weapons (:block:physical::block:dark::block🔥:block:magma:).
Feather Explosion :block:physical:23 :dmg:wind:5-8 :heal: 7% 20 AP |
Divine Denizhen :block:physical:3 :block:dark:3 :block🔥3 :block:magma:3 :block:earth:3 :block:water:3 :heal: 5% 7 AP |
Protector of the Rich :block:physical:11 :block🔥10 :heal: 7-8% 18 AP |
Aftershocks :block:physical:5 :block:dark:5 :block:earth:7 :heal: 7% 15 AP |
• Morosbane Scroll is still a fantastic option here if you don't own any freezing scrolls and need to round out your scroll set. It can heal (:heal:) 300 HP once per battle and you can equip multiples of it at a cost of 15 AP each. It can also deal out 40 light icons (:dmg:light:40) in that same turn. Although it becomes less effective as your pet's HP grows, within the T6 range it is still a strong healing scroll for your pet.
Panzer Hydra Stage 4 (EXTREMELY HARD)
[box=khaki]Panzer Hydra (Seven-Headed)[/box]

Oh no, now there are cannons?! This one is extremely hard and recommended for pets at tier 9 or greater.
• The jump in difficulty compared to the first three stages can seem kind of scary, but don't worry, you can send this hydra back to wherever it slowly rolled from ;) This time the element priority has shifted around a bit. Dark (:dmg:dark:) and physical (:dmg:physical:) are the most prevalent icon types, with earth (:dmg:earth:), magma (:dmg:magma:), and fire (:dmg🔥) being the next most common.
• Thanks to last year's weapon revamp, battling this hydra at tier 9 is going to be much easier than our previous attempts. Before, many of the weapons at this tier didn't provide enough defensive coverage; now they provide a lot more.
:block:physical:50 :block:magma:50 :heal: 7-9% |
:block:earth:35 :block🔥35 :heal: 7% |
:block:dark:45 :block:magma:45 :heal: 140 HP |
:block:dark:25 :block:earth:25 :block:water:25 :heal: 115 HP |
:block:physical:15 :block:earth:20 :heal: 70 HP |
:block:physical:35 or 60 :heal: 0 or 20% |
:block:dark:60 :heal: 5-7% |
:block:earth:65 :heal: 90 HP |
:block:magma:40 :heal: 75 HP |
:block🔥30 or 45 or 60 :heal: 7-10% |
:block:dark:35 |
:block:earth:20 :block:magma:20 :block🔥20 |
:block:magma:25 :block🔥75 |
:block🔥35 or 45 :block:water:35 or 40 |
:block:earth:25 :block:water:25 :block:wind:25 |
• Like with the previous incarnations of the hydra, using mod crystals that deal water, wind, or ice damage (:dmg:water::dmg:wind::dmg🧊) and/or add dark, physical, earth, magma or fire defense (:block:dark::block:physical::block:earth::block:magma::block🔥) are going to help make the most of your attack and defense icons. The choice really depends on if you feel you need more defensive coverage, or if your defense is solid enough that attack crystals would help you more.
• When choosing an infinite use scroll we're looking for one that blocks the hydra's most common icons (:block:dark::block:physical::block:earth::block:magma::block🔥), heals each turn (:heal:), and possibly deals out icons that its Slow Roll Scroll doesn't block (:dmg:water::dmg:wind::dmg🧊).
Aftershocks :block:dark:5 :block:physical:5 :block:earth:7 :heal: 7% 15 AP |
Feather Explosion :block:physical:23 :dmg:wind:5-8 :heal: 7% 20 AP |
Divine Denizhen :block:dark:3 :block:physical:3 :block:earth:3 :block:magma:3 :block🔥3 :block:water:3 :block:wind:3 :heal: 5% 7 AP |
Holy Deluge :block:earth:10 :block🔥10 :dmg:water:4 :heal: 10% 14 AP |
Triple Threat :block🔥10 or 15 :block:wind:10 or 15 :heal: 7% 18 AP |
• If you're struggling with the Steamed Up blessing and not having much luck with chain freezing, you can opt for defensive scrolls instead. Cobalt Eternal and Fatal Fire are going to be the best options with their ability to block more than one of the hydra's icon types at once. And remember there are always healing options too, like Morosbane, Lucky, Gift of the Forj, and the new Rage of the Paramnesia.
Panzer Hydra Stage 5 (IMPOSSIBLE)
[box=khaki]Panzer Hydra (Eight-Headed)[/box]

We've reached the final hydra! This one has eight heads and is at the impossible difficulty. It's recommended for pets in at least tier 12.
• This hydra's weapons are fairly similar to the previous one, with Raging Inferno being the only new addition. Its base stats are much higher, however, which raises the difficulty. The most common icon types are now fire (:dmg🔥) and magma (:dmg:magma:) and I highly recommend blocking those two if you can. Each of its weapons either does one or the other, and sometimes both, which means you'll always be blocking at least some of the hydra's damage.
:block🔥135 :block:magma:50 |
:block🔥130 :block:dark:45 |
:block🔥130 :block:light:40 |
:block🔥55 :block:water:55 :block:wind:55 |
:block:magma:135 :block:earth:50 |
:block:magma:130 :block:water:45 |
:block:magma:75 :block:water:75 |
:block:magma:65 :block:dark:75 |
• If you don't own a fire or magma blocker, the next most common icon types are earth (:dmg:earth:) and dark (:dmg:dark:). Two-thirds of the hydra's weapons also use these elements and blocking them can also be helpful.
:block:earth:125 :block:physical:50 |
:block:earth:100 :block:dark:33 |
:block:earth:50 or 65 or 80 :block:dark:50 or 65 or 80 |
:block:earth:45 :block:light:130 |
:block:dark:130 :block:earth:45 |
:block:dark:130 :block:wind:40 |
:block:dark:50 or 65 or 80 :block:earth:50 or 65 or 80 |
:block:dark:55 :block:water:125 |
• Again, the hydra's Slow Roll Scroll blocks a small amount of most elements. This particular hydra also blocks a small amount of wind with its Steamed Up blessing. The only elements it will not block are water (:dmg:water:) and ice (:dmg🧊). Of the suggested weapons above, those that use these icons in their attacks are: Keiths Ultimate Freezewand of Doom, Cork Tipped Cutlass, Blackmoons Staff, Ornamented Hook Swords, Tainted Keeper Skull Staff, and Manifesting Weapon. This may make these weapons more attractive options when choosing your set.
• This opponent can freeze and you should equip some to protect against being frozen.
If you want to equip other types of mod crystals to fill up your remaining slots, prioritize ones that deal water or ice damage (:dmg:water::dmg🧊) and/or add fire, magma, dark, or earth defense (:block🔥:block:magma::block:earth::block:dark:) to make the most of your attack and defense icons. But remember that curses are disabled for this opponent, which may make certain attack crystals less helpful.
• Any infinite use scroll that blocks fire, magma, earth, dark, and even perhaps physical, (:block🔥:block:magma::block:earth::block:dark::block:physical:) will be helpful here.
Aftershocks :block:earth:7 :block:dark:5 :block:physical:5 :heal: 7% 15 AP |
Strength of the Paramnesia :block:magma:11 :block:physical:11 :heal: 9% 21 AP |
Feather Explosion :block:physical:23 :heal: 7% 20 AP |
Retribution :block🔥25 :heal: 400 HP 27 AP |
Triple Threat :block🔥10 or 15 :block:wind:10 or 15 :heal: 7% 18 AP |
If you own the Mana Surge (:block:magma:), Swift Blade (:block:earth:), or Tasselled Aegis (:block:dark:) scrolls, those can work too.
• Additionally, the frequency of the Steamed Up blessing makes freezing this challenger nearly impossible. This leaves us with two options: defensive scrolls or healing scrolls.
Fatal Fire :block🔥75 :block:dark:75 10 AP |
Cobalt Eternal :block🔥:block:earth:15 or 75 or 75 :block:dark::block:physical:15 or 75 8 AP |
Sancturia Exodin :block🔥:block:physical::block:light:15 or 75 :block:earth::block:water:15 or 75 or 75 8 AP |
Spacial Abyss :block🔥:block:magma::block:earth:75 :block:physical::block:wind::block:water:75 18 AP |
Perilous Whirlpool :block🔥75 7 AP |
Oblivijhen :block:magma:75 7 AP |
Lucky :block:dark:75 19 AP |
Emerging Rifts :block:dark:50 :block:light:50 13 AP |
Gigan Blow :block:earth:50 7 AP |
Typhoon of Valor :block:wind:75 7 AP |
Gift of the Forj :heal: 1,500 HP 15 AP |
Lucky :heal: 500 HP 19 AP |
Rage of the Paramnesia :heal: 5,000 HP 75 AP |
You can fill up the rest of your AP with any of these. The defensive scrolls especially can help you block any icons you weren't able to with your weapons.
If you still need help with anything feel free to post below <3
Thanks, ! Your work is appreciated!

Ive battled the 5 headed opponent 10 times but I dont know how to get the 7 headed opponent, can anyone help.
Did you unlock the achievement? It should reward you with a to unlock the next hydra.
I had one from last year but never used it, it was in my vault, I got it unlocked, thank you very much
This guide is pretty much done! Although I may still change some things around as I do test battles with my pets.
Sorry for the walls of text 😅 I think there is some good information, especially for non-hardcore battlers, but the item hovers are there if you'd just prefer to skim.
The major elements between each hydra are fairly similar so most of the info scales down. For example, if you pick out a set for the strongest hydra you can beat, chances are it will work just fine when you battle the ones below it.
Happy battling!
Thank you . Hopefully I'm now equipped to conquer that final Panzer Hydra.
The final one can be chain frozen, but once you see the Steamed Up blessing (
), you won’t be able to freeze it for the rest of the battle. You can either continue to keep trying to freeze it and possibly forfeit if you see the blessing show up, or you can opt for other scrolls instead.
The best defensive scrolls to use will be things like Cobalt Eternal and Fatal Fire because they can block the last hydra’s most common icons (:block🔥:block:earth::block:dark::block:physical:).
You can also opt for healing scrolls too, like Lucky, Gift of the Forj, or Rage of the Paramnesia.
And for your infinite use scroll, be sure to pick something that blocks fire, magma, earth, dark, and/or physical (:block🔥:block:magma::block:earth::block:dark::block:physical:). The best options are Aftershocks and Strength of the Paramnesia.
My high t12 got one win against stage 5 pretty easily with Natasha/PHG/Aftershocks, but then bogged down hard. Should I be trying to borrow Freezewand/Cronus, or did everyone who got five wins with a t12 just restart until they got the chain freeze? (IME the blessing goes up on the first turn exactly 90% of the time, so I'd really rather not...)
My high t12 (almost t13) got 5 wins pretty easily with a dark blocker and a magma blocker. I had to replace my dark blocker with a fire blocker for the final 4 wins to get to 10. I didn't use freezing at all except for the first turn.
Your Natasha is great as the fire blocker. You may want to borrow a magma blocker to couple it with your Natasha for your best chance.
[img align=center]https://www.imagecoast.com/images/brokensafety/brokenav.gif[/img]
Thanks! What magma blocker did you use? I ask because I was using Mecha/PotR to activate the secondary attack on the PHG, so I actually did have a magma block; it just wasn't quite cutting it, and even that was better than the Maniacal Tooth Sword.
(I definitely want to give a 100-icon blocker a try now, but you might have gotten better results than I would anyway—I haven't started pumping STR/HP yet.)
I used Blackmoons Staff, but you can get the 100 block from a Cronus as well. Before my previous comment, I tried to find your pet to compare stats, but it's a mystery to me. Ha!
[img align=center]https://www.imagecoast.com/images/brokensafety/brokenav.gif[/img]
I must be doing something wrong. Natasha and Cronus, but the earth icons usually get me.
Raging inferno boosts the Hydra's stats so if he's using it a lot he will hit really hard
Give it a try with an earth blocker if you want! Or earth defense crystals. These are just suggestions, they aren’t set in stone :P Everyone battles differently and owns different things so I’m mainly just listing options. Based on its weapons though, fire and magma are the most common icons for the last hydra. Earth is also very common, just not as common.
I had good luck with my lower Tier 12s using Wrath (fire block) and Tainted Keeper Skull Staff (dark and earth block). Only if defense is higher than strength/speed though. As almost always I used tons of Lucky spells for more dark block, heal and attack all in one. Switch to Para Strength spell once Lucky are used up and there's a lot of blocking going on.
None of my capped pets go with the final build of defense > strength/speed. I do find TKSS has me switching to higher strength/speed later and later in the journey because of how many challengers use dark and earth and the defense version is so useful. Your mileage may vary.
