Hi all, I had thought of some ideas on how to keep our beloved game up and running. First off crowdfunding hopefully this doesn't get deleted due to links but if it does I really don't know what to do so I am happy to put this where it belongs. https://techcrunch.com/2015/08/18/fig-games/ https://www.liveabout.com/top-crowdfunding-sites-for-gaming-985224 I was thinking we could all pitch in and maybe do a donation and get shirts printed to look like our HA's, or get some 3D modellers on board who we could hire to create 3D versions of our favourite items and then the money gets split between the 3D artist and Keith so we don't lose our game. Maybe also have a raffle maybe or a real life prop giveaway raffle where we can pay for tickets to win the item and we vote on the item/HA to win and then a set amount of money goes for entries to keep the game running? Just a thought, I don't really know much about crowdfunding to be completely honest but I don't want this game to go away like the rest have. This deserves to be a permanent fixture for all of us. We're like a huge extended family in my opinion so we have to figure this out together. Oh and maybe we could make videos of the game and post on Youtube tiktok twitch and whatever else there is I don't really know :/ so maybe we can reach a broader range of people and last but not least maybe we could as a last resort use our creative coding skills and turn ourselves into an app where we can play on any device and sell IAPs like gold accounts, VIP privileges to older players, then you could pay to remove adverts which will in turn generate extra money since there's advertising for a month or whatever, you could pay for extra wizard token bonuses, CSC, then that would cut down on all the extra GA's laying around. We could revamp it maybe add something like older veteran players get permanent VIP/GA's and then newer players will have to pay for them? Maybe the globe could spin around we click on it and that makes us watch an advert to travel yes adverts are annoying but if we want to keep our beloved game up and running it's the least nuisance we should have to worry about since Keith has been so generous with us not having extra things to be paid for. I also thought as an addendum maybe we could turn ourselves into NFT's I don't really trust them/like the idea personally but we need to do something to generate revenue for Keith and his staff as a absolute last resort. Maybe extra perks like allowing gifs and I don't know if this is already implemented but what about custom shop layouts? Siggy size expansions? Writing grants for the game to be up and running not sure what category that would go under but someone has to have some ideas. Any thoughts? Let me know

NFTs/ cryptos are shady af. Shell companies, money laundering, constant rebranding/ renaming, and a complete lack of market regulation. Sounds like a good way to go bankrupt to me.Anytime someone mentions NFTs as something Subeta should look into, I immediately ignore the rest of their post.

I will be moving this to the main suggestions & ideas forum. Brainstorming is for staff made threads only.
As a new player (less than a year) ; I don't agree with the whole VIP privilege. It's hard being new anywhere...and coming to a new place and seeing some sort of favoritism (maybe not that word) but like a blue checkmark??? would just be off putting to me. It would feel like I'm unwillingly being put into a box.
While I believe that yeah, maybe being able to buy things when you want them with $$ is easier...it's also like hopping onto Animal Crossings and fast-forwarding to get everything you want faster...it would eventually make playing boring, since goals are easily obtainable and there would be no reason to grind. (Something I noticed older players are still on the site for).
NFTs...just another slippery slope.
I'm all for a Subeta Squishmallow though... 🤷
[edit] Nice of you to try to keep Subeta around though!
Ok you're all right and I agree with you especially about nfts but I can't think of anything else at the moment of fundraising. sorry I didn't know. thanks for moving it to the proper place I thought of an addition to the app idea. it could help if it was for purchase to buy the app for 3.99 or something that everyone can afford then it'll open up more users more adverting and more money brought in and another idea is do we have a reddit? I saw someone say something about reddit whatever that is and more secure payment options. i have another idea of making android/iOS watch faces we could buy and the proceeds go to Keith. that in turn might build more interest with people might want to know what character it is from etc and potentially make more people curious about the game and have a new influx of users. modern ideas for a modern solution has to be found. i have also thought about trading cards tangible ones and actual items made like plushies of items and whatever and yes i know it costs money to make money but maybe if keith is interested maybe he could work out a deal with licencing. I know the great majority of us are creative folks and are sentimental. I had another idea of selling SVG files which are used in crafting machines such as a cricut that can be in turned used to create specialty scrapbook/cardmaking/journaling etc papers and then some. Now my next idea was he could sell us a SVG file as an example buy one get one free to use to create our own merchandise with our pets and our favourite items and avatars on them, such as actual mousepads, shirts etc and we could raise money that way also thought about a founder's pack, what that includes is a gold account, legacy names/founder names such as us older players, newer players can buy them too and yes I know it is gimmicky like the blue checkmark that none of us really like but I was thinking about how to raise money. He would have to be the one who decided on a price of course but this is an example like 14 game images for $20USD or whatever in Euros. It wouldn't cost too much to do this since the images are already created and copywritten i would assume and then we would have money to keep the site going. What are your thoughts on this?

I think what subeta needs the most is funding to get another coder in on the job-- the logistical idea of outsourcing stuff like pins/badges/what have you isn't sound as most of the profit would go to 1. the maker of the items and 2. the manpower needed to ship off things. There has already been subeta plushies, as well, so it's not like this avenue hasn't been explored.
This would leave a pittance to the actual monetary gain for subeta, as the core problem is there isn't enough staff members with the power to do internal stuff. We have a lot of artists and PR folk, but not a lot of the inner working staff, like coding.
I would much rather see subeta being fixed internally that having more of its funds stretched out externally for things that I feel would just be a loss in revenue. Just my opinion, though.
Again, the focus on new/old players would drive a considerable wedge into things, we want to have incentive to new folk to join, not less. We veterans (account is 15 years old rn) got the site when it was in its prime, we don't need anything else. I'd personally hate if I constantly had a GA for being here for how long I have, I have buddy GAs turned off for that reason. It's something that I earn, not something I want to be handed to me for simply making an account here long ago, which took absolutely no effort from me whatsoever. So I'm staunchly against giving any sort of favoritism towards older users because... we did nothing to deserve it, in my eyes. Plus, we do get the loyalty totems every year after the first year of playing. I'm fine with just that.
We signed up, that's it. Yes, we've stuck through tumultuous times, but that's been of our own accord, there are many abandoned older accounts.
If you want to have perks and also help with the site, consider doing the subscriptions, as it hits a lot of your points on the head without making it a race on who got on the site first, and directly contributes to subeta.
I agree with . As an older user (16+ years) I already feel way over-advantaged toward new players. By virtue of simply discovering the site before they did I have things they will never get (retired achievements for example). I have old hoarded items that I got totally free, that they now have to pay millions to get. I could go on and on about all the things I have just because I've been here longer and they will never catch up to me.
New users already feel overwhelmed and discouraged. We don't want to do anything to make that worse! That's no way to retain new users. If anything, I want ways to help them, to make it more fair, to encourage them to stick around.

Agree with what people here are saying about NFTs, I do like that people are trying to think of ways for subeta to earn more but
this is a staff decision, its good that people are suggesting options but ultimately its up to staff what to implement, especially so because they will have the extra workload of implementing it, especially when it comes to stuff like merch where there would need to be designs made, working with production, shipping etc
I wholeheartedly agree with what Coraychi above. If people are so worried about subeta going under, and worried about making subeta more money.... theres already a way to support subeta! Buy a sub or csc, put your money where your mouth is so to speak. There's always a use for CSC, with items in the cash shop, loyalty shop, CWS, or even doing stuff like commissioning artists and paying in CSC. I know not everyone can afford to spend, but if you can just use the avenues that are already available. The poor daily goal rarely gets hit, if people tossed a few bucks in for CSC for a rainy day, theres some money for subeta
If Subeta starts with that NFT nonsense, I will be leaving. As if that's some massive threat, I take no business with me but NFTs serve little to no purpose right now and with governmental crackdowns on them, oh, you think Subeta's dead now...

nfts are why thousands of neopets players quit and went onto other sites (like this one). nfts drive people away because no one has the time, energy, or want to deal with them. cryptocurrency and suchlike has no place on a virtual pet website (which tnt failed to understand, but neopets was going under before this anyway).
there are multiple ways to support subeta as it is - you can buy literal hundreds of dollars in csc or subscribe to the site. i agree that there SHOULD be more ways to help out subeta, more incentives to spend money, but i know a lot of people have stopped due to how lacking content and communication has been. once subeta staff kicks the site and themselves into gear, and get more going on, i can see more support flowing in even from just those two avenues, because no one wants to support a site that seems like it's teetering on the edge of death.
I, just like most of us, have been wracking my brain for a long time on how to potentially expand our user base and revive us a little bit. The best idea i've had would be in relation to the company BoxLunch, who's target audience is basically ours I feel. I don't know what this would entail exactly, and would obviously take a little work on part of staff (artists) if it something they care to do (or even feasible, i have no idea)

(I'm tired, so please don't mind if these sound weirdly worded)
NFT is a giant no from me, I would honestly cancel my subscription and leave..
I prefer the idea of them making more plushies, if there was enough interest of course. Rather than them making clothing honestly. I know squishmallows / plushies in general seem to be what people are willing to pay a bit more for, so if they DID want to go the route of trying to make more money, I'd say that would be it. But, I am no expert in that area, so I can't say IT WILL be doable. But I mean, I've seen random artist getting their name out by selling their character designs and it seems to work. That could always be the case for Subeta, if people were to buy them and share them on Facebook, even if people don't care for the site because they don't like it, they may have kids, friends, etc.
2.1 Of course as it was mentioned above, becoming partnered up with boxlunch (considering they already have some program set up it seems) It would be a better route for getting Subeta's name out there, since I know a lot of people have left Neopets and maybe they haven't been able to discover Subeta yet. If I saw Subeta plushies, I'd have to look up the site and see what it's about. 😤

Yeah, that's an absolutely not to NFTs, but I'm still kicking myself for not getting the kumos plushie when it was offered.
Maybe another Kumos, since it's the mascot. Or an experiment 404, or how cute would a Bumbus be as a squishmallow?!
Not that I'm an adult with adult money, instead of a teenager, I have more money to spend on stupid little things like stupid little plushies that would make me nostalgic and happy.
