It's been a few years since the Ancient pet colour idea was suggested, as seen here: Ancient color

I wanted to try and bring it up again, see if maybe it's something that could become real! This wouldn't be like Neo's Tyrannian. These are ancient or prehistoric forms of each Subeta pet species, and they simply evolved into what we know today. For example, an ancient Celinox may have been much larger, were sabertooths, larger crystals and more rugged. I think if previous old designs of a Subeta pet could also be incorporated into the ancient design that would be cool to see. Such as the Swampie, here's an example of what it looked like, as far as the oldest known form we've had:

Some ideas for pets such as the Dillema and Warador could be either based on extinct creatures that did exist (and their current day plushie forms are recreations of those long-gone extinct creatures) OR make them prehistoric-looking toys, made of natural items such as animal hide, sticks, stones and leaves. Zentus could be obvious woolly mammoths. Scootles and other bugs could be stupid huge to represent the Carboniferous Era.

I'm looking to make some concept art, which I will update with once I have the time to do so! Feel free to support this idea with your posts, or mention your owns ideas for what an ancient pet species could look like!

I had a look in the original topic and there are some good suggestions in there. I support having an Ancient colour for pets.

Here's some ideas:

The Blob would be based on the La Brea Tar Pit, with bones of sunken creatures sticking out, the Donadak would be more fleshy than rocky (Based off of what it said in the Subepedia article), the Velosotor would look more like a scientifically accurate velociraptor instead of the Hollywood version (Also thought of the Mortiking having feathers too because of that theory that t-rexes probably had feathers), the Xotl would be based on the beelzebufo, which is a giant frog from the Late Cretaceous Period, if not the Celinox, then either the Clawsion, or Tigrean would be a saber-toothed cat instead, and what you said about the Dillema and Warador could be the same with the Cadogre and Endeavor, sense they are robots. (Also would be kind of funny if the Tutani would be based off of the land animals that evolved into whales)

Yes a tar pit Blob! There's easily so many eras of prehistory to pick from for each species.

I love this idea! I think it could be easily tied into a bit of lore, or maybe even a mini plot type thing? Like some Ancient Magical Cave was discovered in one of the lands and you have to do some kind of quest to get the potion/just change the color. I like ideas for colors that have a theme but still have opportunity for uniqueness.

I worry that it could be a little too thematically similar to Hydrus, but without the universal aquatic theming I think there's plenty of room for it to be very different.

I think in addition to your ancient pet color idea we could also use a feral color that makes them look more like real animals in pattern and palette.
