Now that there are so many ways to modify the shape of the avatar base, I'm having difficulty using a lot of older background items since they include the avatar base cutout. I propose redrawing all the old full-frame background items to make them truly full-frame, with no cutout. I know this would be a lot of work and would take a long time, but the resulting redraws would be so much more versatile!

While it can be tricky to work around an HA cutout when you don't want one, it can also be tricky finding a good background WITH a cutout when you need one for layering purposes. You can use the HA cutout to hide some details in an item like hair, skirts, etc. to make layering more seamless while putting two hairs together, or hair underneath a hood or hat, or using just the top "bodice" part of a dress as a shirt with pants or a different skirt over the top, etc. Since pretty much all new backgrounds are being made without the cutout, I think older ones should be left alone to allow for both types of layering to happen

I agree , I love using the cutouts to do funky layering, and I certainly wouldn't want all of them revamped just for the sake of getting rid of the cutout. If one of the artists feels inspired and wants to revamp some of them, that's neat, but I really hope they leave some as they are!

I almost never use a human for a HA. The cutout backgrounds are pretty much useless for my style of avatar. I'd love either a revamp without the cutout or alternative versions without the cutout. Having the item transformer between the two options would rock.

I would prefer to leave them as is and make new backgrounds, like they did with the paint cans.

This background could do with some kind of revamp, though. It's from when hair wasn't a separate layer so backgrounds with ordinary cutouts would cut some hair off. A circle round the head was added but it looks very odd now and I've never found anything which looks good filling in this circle.

I dunno, that's a lottttt of BGs to go through. and I mean A LOT. I could see maybe the most popular ones getting updated, but I think I would prefer to see the artists work on new stuff?

It would be nice if they could be transformable like other items. There are tons of backgrounds though so it might not be feasible anyway.

Too bad it can't be a user sourced revamp for the sheer number of backgrounds.

I support alternate versions with the cut outs removed. Maybe they can have several polls up and let us choose which ones get the treatment?
