I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but maybe it's worth bringing it up again? My internet can suck at times, but when my connection is strong, I run into server issues (error pages) and nonstop loading previews, every single day, every other hour. I just remembered why I stopped playing not too long ago because there are so many items meaning I need to preview the vast majority of them.
It seems a lot of things are overriding the page causing huge lag spikes and multiple page refreshes or launching new tabs. I can't always check forums on my pc since 7/10 times the page can't finish loading, no replies or forum posts are visible. I try using my phone as well and I run into the same issues, although not as unbearable because of 5G.
Is it possible to simplify the code any? I know it isn't easy, but this issue has been around for many years (I've made accounts 5+ years ago and ran into those issues then). Sorry for pestering the coding team, you all have made amazing changes to the site!
There's a site recode in the works, but the site is struggling right now. Not just figuratively, but literally, it took me about 30 seconds to load this, and hours to AP my shop.
I'm also experiencing the same lag which really sucks. It's been particularly bad in the main shops as of late.
Unfortunately as a programmer (not for Subeta!) I understand the challenges of working with an old code base. Any small change you make can introduce a new problem and it's just a neverending cascade of events. Like Saturnine said they're working on it but unless they get more programmers keeping the site up to date while building an entire new one is a big task.
As another person said, they're working on changing the entire site over with fresh new coding. The new webpage is new.subeta.net, but right now it only has the wardrobe and subscriptions available.
They also recently implemented a new authentication login procedure which seems to have made a whole cascade of problems. Viewing the forums, editing profiles, the friends page, and now really laggy pages for the last few days with autopricer issues.
As a non-coder who doesn't know what's going on behind the scenes, I can't say for sure that these are all connected, but it's just kind of been one thing after another for the last couple of weeks.
The lag for these past few days is something everyone is having to deal with. So good news: it's not just your bad connection. Bad news: it still sucks.
I know it seems like this is what the site always is, especially if you only come in intermittently. But that's not true. Most of the time it works just fine. At least when it has issues it seems to have all the issues at once? Small consolation.
We can never be against virtue, but this isn't something that will happen over night.
The site used to be far worst - Keith had to reboot the servers on a very regular basis in the early days, and we can remember weekends where the site wasn't playable at all. I think that even hough it's not all that great, it's much more stable than what it used to be.
It will be fixed someday. But, don't expect it to be quick - this kind of situation can only be solved with the good old recode.
This is already in the works as the others have mentioned. They are basically rebuilding Subeta to a new site with updated code. Parts of our site are 10 years or older and so that is why it seems like they try to fix one thing, a different part breaks in a new way. Also some of the code is losing support. Locking this up as this is being currently addressed and has been answered by both Keith and Bug multiple times.
