Hey there! I'm Andi / Sociopathix. I'm 19 (turning 20 soon woo!) and currently attending university for computer programming and game design! I found Subeta while looking for other virtual pet websites. I've never been very into Neopets so it can be hard to find websites with bustling communities haha. I play on Goatlings and Flight Rising pretty regularly, and I've been plesantly suprised about adding Subeta to that list!
My hobbies outside of pet sites is obviously game design/programming. It's a huge passion of mine and I'm almost always excited to work on projects. I'm also an artist and enjoy drawing characters - I play an ARPG (art rpg) called World of Griffa that I really enjoy. Another hobby of mine is tarantula keeping! It's a little offputting at first but most people come around. ;> Unfortunately my first tarantula passed away this Feburary during the big winter freeze that came over the South, but I'm still looking forward to getting more T's in the future once I can get a place that has more reliable power/heating/etc! I also have a cat and a hamster! They're both super cute and if anyone wants to see them just let me know lol.
So far my favorite Subeta pet is definitely Zasabas and the other bug-inspired pets. I'm hoping to get my hands on an Angelic potion sometime in the future to give to my Zasaba, Aiko!
Question though! What are the bigger goals on the site? On Goatlings most people collect/hoard items and are generally economically motivated and FR revolves around breeding and building your clan/flight. Obviously, collecting is pretty popular here, but I was wondering what long-term goals were like? Is it more specifically about creating and writing stories for your pets/editting their profiles or getting rare pets? Are there any other long-term goals? Like rare items? I really wanna know what other peoples' goals are on the site as I figure out my own! Also, any general tips would be great too, it's hard to know what to do when there's so many options.
Anyway, that's it really! If anyone wants to talk more feel free to PM me or add me as a friend! I'm looking for other people to talk with and stuff, newbies and others alike. :> Thanks in advance for any advice or welcome messages - they're greatly appreciated!
Hi there and welcome to the site!
So on bigger goals, well, it depends on what you want to do. I am an advocate for battling, since most of the challengers drop loot that doubles as wearables for the human avatar system and the wardrobe is my second most favorite part of the site. For battling, pets start with basic stats and the lowest tier, and as they gain more stats to their four main areas of health, strength, defense, and speed, they will eventually climb up through the tiers to the peak at Tier 13 and 35,000 total stats. I myself after 16 years here have only managed to raise one such battle pet and stalled with my second in Tier 12, so that is one big goal.
Others buy and resell items through their shops aiming to obtain a million sP, or more loftily a billion which I believe awards a forum title to show off.
Some people do hoard items in galleries.
Others build really impressive pet profiles and attempt to win the pet spotlight for a given day. It takes a lot of coding knowledge to strike the unique build that may attract attention to your pet, but fortunately the forums are eager to assist you with learning. Getting rare pets isn't that hard these days between the pet zappers and potions, it is just a matter of affording some of the more expensive ones.
You should start doing quests if you haven't already, such as Sarah's quests to start you off, and especially wizard quests as you gather a little more sP. Wizard tokens can be sold or stored in your currency vault for when the Token Shop restocks at random, and with items like Aemis that runs for thousands of tokens(another item goes for 20,000 tokens I believe) it is certainly something worth stockpiling.
Anyway I hope something in this helps you and gives you some ideas. If you have any more questions or want to talk just ping me.
Thank you, I'm really happy to be here!
I've been trying to level up my Zasaba and get some weapons that can actually beat enemies but have been really struggling so far. Hopefully I won't get one-shot as easily once I have a little more health and defense haha.
I've been really enjoying coding my pet profiles! I have a reasonable (though limited) knowledge of CSS and working on profiles has really got me excited about it, which is convenient considering programming is my job lol. I'd love to eventually have a handful of fully completed profiles one day. Not many pet sites in the past have motivated me to actually write profiles out (Goatlings is the only one that's come close to it), so the customizability of the profiles has def been my favorite thing so far for sure!
And thank you for the advice! I had no idea some of the restock items could be so expensive. I'll be making sure to spend my tokens more wisely from now on! :0
Thank you so much again for the reply! It's been great seeign and meeting so many nice people on Subeta. :>
about to call it a night with work coming up in 5 hours so this is just a quick jot down response about your pet, are you using the training center found in Riverside? And if you haven't already seen weapons fall into the Tier system too so you can't get your hands on anything super awesome just yet, but there are good weapons for each lower tier try to check out the battle subforum and look for the set advice by tier thread which is in another sub-subforum there.
Keep in mind that speed will also influence if you are able to land critical hits as easily. If you see you getting hit by those a lot raise your speed to at least one point above whatever enemy you are fighting to minimize their chances while maximizing your own.
Make sure you are reading books to raise your pet's intelligence so they can gain Alchemy Points! Alchemy Points, or AP, allow you to use scrolls in battle. You gain one AP per 15 or so intelligence as memory serves.
If you are receiving any egg related drops from the enemies you are defeating, use them to boost your stats! They are only usable for tiers 1, 2, and 3.
And go to the battle quests in the Sacred Lands! You can gain exp from beating the opponent for each stage.
I'll get back to you on the rest of your post tomorrow so I'll close out by saying you are so very welcome and I hope you have a blast continuing to play the game :)
Welcome to Subeta!
The battle system is pretty rewarding, some people focus on one pet and others raise an entire colony. As suggested, the Battle forums are really helpful.
There's a lot of collecting that can be done, you can find them on the Games page under Subeta on the top nav bar.
Personally I found a lot of my interests and big personal goals working on Achievements (Under the Personal on the top nav bar)
