There are so many opportunities in this universe that deserve to have a second chance, so why not take advantage of this wonderful occasion?
I am the guardian of second chances, I am the one that listens for whispered wishes in the dark of night, I am the messenger of forgiveness, I am the protector of hope and dreams. I am the cool of a spring breeze, I am the buzz of diligent honey bees, I am the singing of birds on quiet mornings. I am the bittersweet memories of loved ones long passed on to the next life.
I am Aiko, the creator of new beginnings.
Aiko is the guardian spirit messenger between the Eternal and Transient Realms. They are the Atron Deity of dreams, wishes, new beginnings, second chances, and fate. Because of this, they are also closely associated with luck and prosperity.
As a messenger between worlds, one of Aiko’s many duties is to help spirits cross over from the physical world after their deaths, as well as deliver memories and messages back to their loved ones. These messages can be in the form of dreams and thoughts, and occasionally, as visions or other forms of prophecy.
Aiko’s following in the Transient Realm is fairly modest compared to their counterparts, as their duties often go unnoticed or dismissed by mortals as commonplace. However, there are a handful of public shrines where individuals often leave money, sweets, handmade toys and trinkets, and also items of friends and family who have passed on. These offerings are made in hopes of safe passage or to request Aiko to deliver messages to or from their loved ones.
Some individuals, especially those who are practitioners of spiritwork or families who follow Aiko, have household altars or shrines where they make regular offerings to the deity, though this is more uncommon. It is considered general practice to make a temporary shrine after the death of a loved one, at which offerings are made for eight days and eight nights - this practice is often repeated on anniversaries as well. However, for convenience, some observe this ritual on a sacred day instead, so that they may leave offerings for all passed loved ones with one annual ritual.
