Quick update -- I've just reduced the maximum size for threads from 5,000 posts to 1,000 posts. This is needed in order to keep the site speedy.
It's possible we'll readjust this in the future, but for now it's required. Sorry for the sudden change, and confusion!

Yeah, the sudden change is awful. A bunch of threads will need to be remade/fixed with no chance to quote posts to get the original text of the opening post.

Unfortunately, this is an example of us making limits too high when they should be much lower. Threads that have thousands of posts are making the database (which is already WAY LARGER and more expensive than a site like Subeta should need) struggle to load any posts.
This is a quick fix to hopefully prevent the need of bumping the size of our database container up again, costing thousands of dollars.
I hope to be able to give more notice on this type of change in the future, but we were hitting the caps.

Don't see why people are complaining about this. It's not like the threads go away, they are all still there, you just have to make new ones.
As someone who uses old forum threads to find out stuff like "who drew this ancient CW I just bought" I do not enjoy searching through 5000+ post threads for information :D

If you're the owner of the thread you can still choose edit, copy the text, and leave without saving changes. Unfortunately not much else can be done if you're trying to recreate someone else's thread.

Thanks for the update, this makes a lot of sense. Especially the explanation about increasing server space costing thousands, omg!
Quick question, are threads above 1k posts intentionally not loading? I've had maybe one out of 10 load the old posts so it's pretty difficult to gather any info at all.
This might be especially hard on all of the people running event contests if they and their participants can't access the info on dances etc.
