Neugarten started in late june the last 2 editions (the 24th and the 20th respectively) so with 2 and a half to 3ish months to go I felt a suggestions thread was in order.
Threads that are still relevant Vesnali 2021 suggestions Here's last years thread for inspiration Neugarten 2020 suggestions
General themes for neugarten: -sustainable living -Locally sourced products -Vegetarian and vegan products -handcrafted items
Personal suggestions
-Locally sourced fibers (think balls of wool, crochet yarn, embroidery thread, needle felting wool) -Beginner crafting kits, they usually contain the instructions and materials for at least one beginner project and there are sets available for both adults and children. -books/folders about: composting, home electronics repair, wildlife friendly gardens -Potted herbs -Roasted/toasted nuts -Kitchen tools we don't have yet: Garlic press, Wooden spatula, lemon zester, Kitchen sieve, Collander, cast iron pans. -Bags of dried beans/legumes -Freeze dried fruit/veggie chips -Chilled/cold soups -Thrifted clothing (no specific ideas but maybe fun for descriptions)
Wasn't it said that some time after last year's Neugarten, there was going to be some kind of activity to do with sustainability or recycling, with Shanti involved, and then that never happened? I mean, it wasn't said in an official news post, but still, could that happen this year?
I like the wool idea, it would be good to see different types and different colours of that. I also mentioned last year that it would be nice to see more of those yarn bowls since we only have one of those right now.
I can't think of much else, maybe also books about the best ways to dispose of things that can't be recycled, or maybe more alternative packaging to unrecyclable plastic because of the thing I keep hearing about it being bad for the sea. Some of the things I've bought recently have this packaging that I think is meant to be biodegradable, it has a different texture.
I love these ideas by .

Here are a few of the things I would love to see as well. Food -locally sourced chocolate bars or products I was inspired by the Neugarten theme and a chocolate company in Hawaii called Manoa -local or unique honeys (basically honey produced from the pollen of specific flowers or locations) -breakfast parfaits (yogurt, fruits, oats, chia seeds, and more) -fresh herbs maybe organic (mint, lavender, aloe, and others we don't already have) -edible flowers (rose, violet, marigold, honeysuckle, pansy, borage, dianthus/carnations, chrysanthemums, cornflowers/bachelor buttons, nasturtium, squash/onion/pea blossoms, chamomile, and lavender also fits this) -These may fit better somewhere else but I would love to see red grapes, green grapes, dates, figs, and other fresh produce that do not fit in fresh and flavorful and aren't already available
Wearables -trash cans and recycle bins (I would like one of them to be the older aluminum style like the one in Pina Park and at least one recycle bin or can) -now that we can put our HA in different poses could we have poses where we are doing things/holding things like a pie, plate of cookies (maybe from the Brewery), or tools like a mixing bowl and spoon/whisk so it looks like we are mixing something -sewing machines (an antique one and a modern one) -more stands like the market one from last year only for other hobbies and crafts (sewing/knitting with thread and yarn, wood carving/turning, local honey/maple syrup/molasses, flowers, art, jewelry, baskets, pottery, and maybe one serving Neugarten foods from the Brewery or Rumis or Local Fresh Wholesome) some of these might be on tables of different styles from last year or on taller display stands
Books -Getting your proteins from your garden -Nutrition A complete guide on where to find what you need -Organic gardening -How to protect your garden from pests Organically
It has been around 4 years since the Peka Park Food Fest. If it isn't going to return soon I would love to see the items from that event available somewhere and some of them might fit well in the Neugarten shops.
farming tools are much needed and seem appropriate for neugarten, i.e.:
since somehow all we have for wearable watering cans is... these
✨
In case we do go for a sustainable farming theme I’ve gotta partially repost my Vesnali suggestion just in caseeee:
but with different colors/textures of moss or farmland (for Vesnali I said sand but like sand would be cool for any season)
Also I'd love wheelbarrows that I could layer behind my HA. Wheelbarrow full of soil, wheelbarrow full of grass trimmings, wheelbarrow full of dead leaves, wheelbarrow full of naked branch trimmings.. an empty wheelbarrow.. endless possibilities!
I'd love a rideable tractor wearable, most of the HA would be hidden by it.
How about solarpunk items? Solar panels built into clothing, accessible urban planning, community gardens, repurposed items such a tire planters ect.
Yes to more Oatmeal! I suggested roasted seeds for Vesnali, why not Neugarten too :D More seeds for the bird god
It might be a little late for this suggestion but I thought I'd put it out there.
So, we have events that cover seasonal items for fall (fireside), winter (luminaire) and spring (vesnali), but we don't really have a event that covers summer themed items.
Since Neugarten is the only consistent event that is really in summer and has modern themes I think adding summer as a theme might be nice. Some suggestions that fit both the summer theme and usual neugarten themes
-Swimwear from recycled plastic bottles, maybe burkinis xXxXxX -Straw sunhats xXx -Knit/crocheted beach coverups xXxX -Beach towels from recycled materials -Anything beachcombing themed (would also work for keelhauliday)
Some just summer stuff -Boozy popcicles -Beach reading books and puzzle books -Aloe gel -Sunglasses in fun shapes
These are all some great suggestions! Even if we don't use them for Neugarten, I'm seeing some lovely ideas for Millionaire Center Summer rotation 👀
bring back the food trucks, they haven't been around since 2017 (and let them sell their secret food item after you've gotten it for free) also bring back the community bowl goop monster
my local farmer's markets will often have food trucks, this is basically a farmer's market, the math works out
On a scale of 1 to 10 how upset would you be if there were no new items, just the old stuff brought back, including the secret items? I'm working with the artists to get pets done, neugarten stuff, and more so I don't want to spread them too thin but if y'all aren't too upset with just those being brought back with nothing new I'd be down to do it!!
I would not be upset with less new items. I just badly need the food trucks back for some old achievements.
i just want them back! and to be able to buy more and ! (also i just think the trucks ought to be available more often since a lot of the fries/pastas are needed for achievements)
I think some users would be upset, but it does give a chance to catch up on all the existing Alegarten/Neugarten items, and I like the idea of the food truck items being brought back as well (I really regret not taking those seriously when we had them because now I need a lot of items for achievements).
i would be so happy with a peka-boo 2: electric boogaloo with not even a quest line, just everyone coming back to peddle their wares again and just not getting anything new this year.
