Title says it all. I have one pet in particular that I adopted for her (legacy) name, but she has a trophy from her past owner when I wanted to build on her and get recognition for what I've done. Will there ever be a way to do this-- whether by ticket or on our own?

I can see the Issue [tm] with people removing a win status and then going ahead to win again with a similar profile/content, and logging all the coding/assets/profile stuff for repeat wins would be annoying. But, also, I don't see this... happening that often unless someone wants to completely revamp everything.

I don't know. It's complicated and frustrating. :S

I can definitely see why this would be useful, especially given the situation you're in. It's honestly struck me as a little weird that pet spotlight trophies are tied to pets, and not to the user who owned them? That said, there should really be a way to remove trophies so you can do your own thing with a pet and get recognized.

I would love this. I always feel limited with pets I adopt who already have pet spotlight awards. Like, why would I put effort into their stories when I have other pets I can work on, and they will never get the recognition for my efforts?

I support this if you aren't the original owner; but I'm not sure if there is a way to tell if the owner's ID is recorded as well. It probably is.

No support for pets who originally belonged to the user who won.

Mostly agree about the adoption thing. However, I would be okay if it's the same pet and owner if two conditions were met:

  1. The pet's character and look (profile, TC, species, etc.) have significantly changed.

  2. It has been a long time since the initial win with that pet (five years, maybe more).

Honestly, I'd be pissed if a pet won for the second time with the same owner, while some have been in the queue for a year+ and haven't won.

We need more different users to win the spotlight, and this wouldn't really encourage people to enter the spotlight!

I like the idea of it being available only if you didn't own the pet when it won. I couldn't just abandon most of my pets when I wanted a fresh start, I had to make a thread to adopt them out so that people would know that they were spotlight winners. I still have one pet up for adoption, but that's a Hydrus pet so it's better if I transfer to someone rather than abandon anyway. But still, it would make things easier if someone decided they no longer wanted that pet but didn't want to feel obligated to keep it because of the spotlight, or if they wanted to abandon pets without having to worry about users being disappointed from adopting them only to find they can no longer win.

removing spotlight wins!

i actually suggested something like this years ago and still 100% support being able to remove spotlight wins, even if it's your own pet and you just want to completely revamp it and try for spotlight again

on the topic of people submitting the same content multiple times like............. is that really an issue lmao it's not like there's items/currency to be gained from spotlight so i don't feel like anyone would really try to cheese it? at worst they could have it so multiple wins from the same pet don't count for the spotlight achievements idk

not to mention if someone really wanted to win with the same content again anyway it takes 5 seconds to copy + paste it into another pet's description so it's not like the ability to remove trophies would really stop someone from doing that

but if that's too much of a hot take i'd just be happy with trophies being automatically removed when a pet is abandoned/transferred bc that makes sense to me

This is going to hit the 15 month necro rule soon, so I'd like to resurface it.

I have pets that I'd like to remove the trophies from and would love to see some kind of trophy removal options - maybe something similar to the legacy name removal. Either because I adopted them, or because they were won with a completely different character and I've moved names around before (usually for stats to be lined up better with the characters - which is what i'm doing today!). Regardless of whether or not they have trophies, I'm still going to work on them, but it'd be nice to have show them off!

These are old posts, but I'm still gonna put my thoughts in for them.

Guilty of this actually. Thief has won twice. Once in 2014 and again in 2016 on a different ID. I moved him to a lower ID and completely reworked his story, profile, new art, overlay, and tweaked his TC. I was a lot more proud of the second win. Either it was overlooked, or he was allowed to win twice since it was a different ID + significant changes. Honestly, I don't think it's a negative thing and am fine with the idea of the same pet winning twice if there's be tweaks done that make it significantly different.

Full support on this, I like to be able to strip the trophies off my pets. They all won two or three character designs ago, the trophy's not representative of the existing pet, etc. Would be nice to wipe the slate clean.

I really like this idea for pets that have changed owners! Considering they have the "adoption date", there must be some kind of code that indicates they changed owners. I don't think I have any pets that I adopted with trophies, but plenty of people do.

If I'm being totally honest, I think the potential issue of people deleting their trophies and winning with the same pet over and over is entirely made up and not at all likely. I feel like it could absolutely be dealt with on an individual basis. Like, "Here's the page to remove a spotlight trophy from a pet - if you're found to abuse this feature to win a bunch of times, you'll receive a warning!"

Or only allow a trophy removal from each pet once a year, or something like that. That could be simpler than the whole owner-changed thing and probably still curb any weirdos wanting to abuse it. Like why would that be worth the effort? Lol.

TL;DR - No support if the pet belongs to the account where the trophy was won, and i see no problem with this if the owner is different.

Upon reading the title, I didn't want to support this. I thought this would give users to enter the same pet in the contest AGAIN (with more than 1 pet, let's say), and win AGAIN, while other users/pets that never won would not stand a chance.

Reading your situation, and a couple of comments, i think the trophy should be tied to the account on which the initial trophy was won, much like the Bumbus pet when is left in the pound. I also think this should be allowed/done after several years have passed since the trophy was won.

Probably this option should be left to the staff, though it would add more tasks for them to do.

I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.

Full support for all trophy removal situations, especially for pets who have won before with the same owner! I also think that the issue of people constantly re-submitting their own pets would... actually... be... a non-issue lol, like said, if it seems like someone is abusing the queue THAT much, couldn't the people in charge of the queue slap 'em with a warning? Like... what is the likelihood of someone re-submitting the same pet/character concept over and over again for funsies lmao

Think about how one-time (or once every five years?) trophy removal could potentially revitalize the pet community here, too. The pet spotlight has been around for a long time - my first spotlight win was on September 9th, 2011, over ten years ago. How many of us pet people have won in the last ten years, with characters we'd love to revamp? I can guarantee you that my first spotlight win was with a character who doesn't even exist anymore, and I'd bet real Subeta Dollars (tm) that I'm far from the only one in this situation.

I know that if I could remove trophies from some of my favorite characters and re-submit them for the spotlight, I'd definitely be more productive here.

I have a handful of pets I've adopted for their legacy names from other users that will never get spotlight because of them having won spotlight from their previous owners.

That said, I personally don't care either way that they'll never have spotlight though. It's never bothered me, and I have pets of my own that due to various reasons I'll never put up for spotlight myself.

That said, I'd probably only support this if it was a different user than the original owner being able to re-win spotlight. I'm not sure how the coding would work, but I wouldn't support this if it was the original owner being allowed to take off the spotlight for their own pet because then they could potentially just resubmit the pet every couple months. If it was a different owner than the original that wanted to submit with their own idea and the coding could work, I could see this being ok.

Yeah, no.

How many times is that pet going to get scrubbed of the spotlight status? You could, in theory, transfer it for a friend, they scrub the spotlight win off, win, scrub, transfer, repeat.

I don't like it. I'm never going to win the spotlight, I just don't like it for the sake of it seems like it's borderline cheating the system already.

I'm in full support - you really don't gain anything from winning the spotlight except for a day of people looking at your pet more than usual... so I don't really see how this can be abused? I'm sure if staff saw the same content coming in over and over they'd ban the pet?

Like..... you literally get nothing other than a trophy on your pets profile. Scrub and repeat that if you want. I personally wouldn't bother but if I got a pet with a win already I'd prefer to earn that trophy on my own.

honestly i still say the trophy itself should be tied to the user and not the pet. sure, display it on the pet's page, but it's the user's trophy, not the pet's. when it leaves the winner's account, the trophy stays with the person who won.

so in relation to this suggestion i support being able to remove it, but moreover, i don't think it should be necessary because the trophy shouldn't move with the pet.

people are going to re-submit pets over and over again

and allowing us the delete trophies is going to stop this how exactly lol?

Zacharie won 3 years ago and it took me approximately 1 minute to copy + paste + edit his profile onto [pet not found] who i could very easily submit for spotlight now

like i'm obviously not going to do that but idk i just think it's a weak argument

Echoing a lot of what said. The whole "people are going to resubmit pets over and over again" argument is extremely weak for a couple of reasons:

  1. Who actually cares enough to do that lol. Subeta's pet community is dead enough as it is. I doubt anyone would attempt to cheat the system like that... but if they DID:

  2. There are admins who look at pets in the spotlight queue. They would SEE if somebody were constantly submitting the same character over and over, and put a stop to it. It's as easy as that.
