I see lots of updates on new.subeta.net, but all of the previews and live versions don't sport a sidebar... Seriously, that's like, the best feature and makes Subeta the easiest petsite to navigate by far. So I'd like to see if more people want it to be kept in the new interface, maybe even with the toggle option for people who might not use it.

I've been complaining about the widgets going away ever since they first mentioned it years ago. I use stuff in my dashboard constantly. LOL and yes, sometimes I sit and stare at my HA when I've had particular good ideas/outcomes.

The fact they are getting rid of CSS makes this even more critical because I won't even be able to "reverse" changes they make that annoy me.

Oof I missed the part about getting rid of CSS. Does that mean, like.. no more being able to make my own link colors? That makes seeing so much easier :c also the box around event floaters.. ahh

Aw man, please keep the sidebar! That's how I do all my quests and I really enjoy being able to see my HA. I also have my active pet icon up there because I like to see them as well.

Wait, wait: they're considering getting rid of the sidebar and custom css?

These are the best two parts of the site. It makes me happy to be able to fix certain things about the site that upgrade the QOL but which are low priority for Subeta staff to change. And I don't just have one sidebar - thanks to 's CSS I have two.

Please don't go the Microsoft way and make things more "user friendly" at the cost of making things customizable.

That makes me very... disgruntled. I'll hold off on raising the pitchforks until I see how it's implemented, but if there isn't a way to customize the site, that will severely impact my enjoyment of playing this site.

I have disabilities and custom CSS allows me the ability to the use the site as pain free as possible. Without it...well, there's always self-freezing when it gets too painful.

I was already having an issue when I found out we'd no longer have custom css because I love it, but I use my sidebar for legit everything. I'll have to re-learn to use the site again or something if that goes too.

Regardless of sidebar design decisions; if we really do end up with no custom CSS ( 😢 ) I'll make a good guide for using browser extensions.

I didn't like having what the new news was about spoiled for me when it came to new pet colours, preferring to see the news post for myself first, so I use custom CSS to get rid of the news announcement banner for me. So unless the option comes to turn it off, I'll have to make sure that I refresh the news before I do anything else on this site in case they release a new pet colour. Sorry if that sounds silly, but it's really important to me that I don't have it spoiled for me before I see the news post. It helps to reduce my anxiety when it comes to those posts.

I also find it most useful for the Mystery Box and Slots, where it moves the button to reduce scrolling, unless the new layout will do something about that.

What's this I hear about custom CSS? I guess that wasn't seen as a ping-worthy thing in the updates thread (either that, or I missed the ping, but either way this is the first I've heard of that too). :(

Same here - I've got custom CSS for a lot of features to make things easier for me (including colours that suit my eyesight better, and hiding links to those pets that always want to snaffle food before my gourmand can eat it). I'm hoping there'll still be a way of adding in a way of changing link colours and all the stuff I have set in my custom CSS, as that makes it much more enjoyable to spend time here.

I wonder if it was an accidental thing from the new coding, or if it was coded that way to stop custom CSS being able to be used. Either way, considering lots of us rely on custom CSS to make the site more usable, I'm hoping there'll be some kind of official update on how (if at all) we'll be able to alter elements that we need to (I know there'll be dark mode, but on other sites I've found that worse for my eyes than the regular one).

Going back to the start of this thread and the sidebar, as long as the navigation is usable and there's a space like the notepad widget for my most-used links (or reminders to feed my gourmand etc) then I think I can learn to use a sidebar-less site. If there's no notepad widget anywhere, then it's going to make things a lot more challenging as I don't want to put my links / reminders on a pet profile for everyone to see!

They plan to get rid of the sidebar/dashboard, custom CSS and the bookmarks. That doesn't leave many choices.

If you don't want to put it in your profile, the only option left will be to create a browser library where you add a Subeta "dailies" section to your browser links. Provided, of course, that your browser has that option, and that the browser you use plays well with Subeta. And of course, that your "reminders" can all be made as links. No text options in a link library.

thanks for the reminder that browser extensions are a thing, I already use a couple that are very useful here. It helps me feel that things aren't completely hopeless for being able to use the site once the "new site" comes online.
