All item pricing questions go in this board, whether it be a battle item, wearable, etc.
Make sure that at the time of posting, your item(s) are not buyable in User Shops, or listed with an asking price in Trades.
Check to make sure that your item hasn't already been recently posted about and priced. This is especially true for potions/elixirs, Mage Amulets, tomes, custom wearables and, retired items.
The rules for the Item Price forum are as follows:
Include in your post the full name and rarity of your item(s). If you are not sure on the item's rarity, you can find that by hovering your mouse over the item.
You may have multiple price check topics so long as they are not for the same item. When your price check has been answered, please change its topic title to something like "Done Please Lock" and/or ping the MiniMod of this board to have it locked.Do not change the title of your post to make it easier for others to find the information in the future
Be patient for a reply, and please don't go sMailing or commenting frequent price check respondents for help with pricing your item (especially if you already made a topic for it) unless they have given you specific permission to do so.
Stay on topic! The item pricing board is only for item price checking.
If you're curious about the purpose of an item, if you should use the item, etc., your topic is better suited for the Help & Questions board. If you are looking to sell or buy items, use the Advertising board or the Wanted board located within the Advertising board.
Similarly, if you cannot answer a price check query please do not reply saying things like "I don't know, good luck finding a price". Not only is this not helpful, it is spamming and will be warned as such.
No bumping topics, either by yourself or by having another user bump it for you. Bumping is considered a form of spam and will be treated as such.
The Basic Site/Forum Rules, Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions apply to this board. If you have not read these, do so! It just might save you from doing something against the rules and getting warnings, or worse.
PLEASE NOTE: All forum threads have a 5,000 post limit. When a thread has reached 5,000 posts, it will automatically be closed/locked and have the message, "This post is locked! This thread has reached over 5,000 posts! It's time to start a new one." If a thread has been automatically closed/locked due to reaching the 5,000 post limit, a new one may then be created.
If you have any questions, you may submit a ticket via the Ticket Center and a User Administrator will assist you. [/quote]
Going through the rationale for the changes:
I think there should probably also be a rule/policy about not locking threads less than 2 weeks old to let people comment or question things so people don't abuse the boards. And while it's not common, sometimes an item gets price checked, someone comes along and answers the price check incorrectly, and then OP requests a lock before anyone else can correct it. Then that thread will sometimes get linked a few months later when someone tries to price check it again.

Thank you, I completely agree that the title should not remove the name of the item being checked. Personally, I wish CWs had their own sub-section in the pricing forum. It would further clean up the clutter.

Since it's useful for some users to communicate about price in a definitive way over time, maybe add a third alteration, that threads cannot be locked? Again I'm saying this because it's not like to me there's a lot of clutter if the bottom thread is that old. If the OP doesn't wanna know any more, they can unsubscribe and this takes less effort than requesting a lock anyways.
The CW people have their own price checking thread in the CW forums (which is probably technically against the rules if you go by the letter here. If we can't price check things in the battle forum why is there a price check forum in the CW forums.)
I think if they were to be given a subforum it would probably get used. If each item were given it's own thread the CWs would probably outnumber the regular items 2-3:1. People come in and post 10-20 CWs at a time sometimes.
I'm pretty ambivalent about a subforum for CWs. It's not too busy the way it is now, but if used properly it would probably be a benefit to the CW community.

Oh yeah, especially in the help/questions forum. Leave the damn title alone so if someone else has the same question, they can just quickly look and be like, "Oh! Perfect, now I don't have to waste time asking a question people have already answered."

I like most of the suggested changes in the OP. If someone is going to make a thread to ask how much to price a red ball, then power to them. They will either find out the hard way it was a stupid question, or - and hopefully, more likely - they will be taught how to look it up and make good judgement calls by others.
If the same individual is creating multiple threads and it becomes a problem then it can be reported and a UA can step in.
I think this will help improve the overall experience for newer players, and at the same time open it up for items that actually do make sense to question.
I've never been a fan of changing the titles to "lock please". As mentioned above, it makes it difficult to locate information later. Plus, there's no magic program that goes through and locks those thread - someone has to manually find them. It's easier and more efficient to just ping the mods of the forum or file a ticket.
I'm not so sure about a ban on how soon a thread can be locked, especially since piggybacking is usually frowned upon or against the rules (depending where).
If you want to price check in Battle make a Suggestion about that? If you want all CW prices to come to the Item Pricing forum, make a Suggestion about that? Although I can see why creators wouldn't want to go to Item Pricing myself, so that's probably why some of them don't.
any thoughts/comments?

Thanks for the ping!
I would say I'm not opposed to these changes - especially the 'change the title of your post when you're done rule' as it seems pretty fair to leave it up so that people can see it later.
I will say that I often leave boards open that just have one of that item priced in the shop search, because I think it's reasonable to see if that price is legit. But I'm not sure we can strike the 'not priced in user shops' rule completely, as we need some baseline for when it's okay to close boards that don't really need to be in item pricing. I wonder if we can say something like 'items that have three or less examples priced in the shop search/trades/etc' to give some leeway, but also allow me to close boards for an item that has 50 priced in the search.
- What do you think about these proposed changes?
Honestly, with there being like 3-5 new boards per week I don't think it will be a problem if you only locked necroed threads (and ironically necroed threads are actually somewhat valuable for something like this sometimes.)
The problem is that no matter how many there are on the market, they don't have to be accurate prices. There are people that still have their legacy shop items priced at 10-50mil for a 10K item. So when a combination of the auto pricer and the recycle beast create a perfect storm a 10K item can suddenly appear to be 10mil, with 10 priced on shop search.
If anything I would say that you don't need a price check if it's under 1mil, maybe anything under 5mil, doesn't need a price check anymore, unless it's less than a month old. But I think it's always reasonable to price check anything over 10mil.
Setting the bar at 1mil means you shouldn't get your red ball price check scenario while preserving most of the weird market flux scenarios.

Does the Lock thread button in the top right corner of the thread not actually ping a MM/UA to come lock the thread?

Any updates on this?
This thread illustrates the need for the changes since someone basically lost out on a ton of sP because of the forums rules: Price needed for T12 weapon Shattered Rift Blade please [can be locked now] I had someone interested in buying my shattered rift blade at 1.5billion+. Someone came in and said it was worthless (it's very much not, it's probably one of the weapons I use the most on my capped pet), another person comes in and says it's 200mil, but might have gone down in price? (which makes no sense) And then a mystery buyer comes in and buys at 300mil for a bargain after the OP was given terrible information.
Now the topic is locked, so people can't correct the terrible information, and the thread will likely be quoted by other people now as the "fair price".
Topics should never lock within 1 week of being opened in that forum at the bare minimum. And I'd argue they should never lock, unless to prevent a necro (if thats something that you care about, which arguably this would be one of the only places where necroed threads are actually helpful since it establishes a history)

Chris, you aren’t the single authority on item pricing on the site. and I are both active battlers, our opinions on weapon prices matter too. It sounds like you’re salty because you were overcharging someone and now you won’t get nearly as much money out of them. The bias in your statements is not reflecting well on your character.
The terrible information I was referencing was Metroid's, which was borderline trolling, and didn't add anything to the thread. You at least gave historic information, even if I disagree on your speculation that it somehow dropped in price. You usually give very reasonable advice on things like this, and I don't think there was any malice or deception behind your post.
That being said, in less than 3 hours you were proven to be off by a factor of 2 at minimum, and you could have cost someone a minimum of 150mil. If it was left locked you could have cost even more people hundreds of millions of sP.
I have been pointing out that people can manipulate the price of rare items on the item pricing forums by using the rules intentionally or unintentionally by locking the thread for years, and have made at least 2-3 threads about this topic in the past, this is the item that I think someone finally got badly burned on.
When you look at my history on this topic I think you'll see that it's honestly not me being annoyed about potentially losing a sale. Makes no difference to me if I sell that thing tomorrow, 6 years from now, or ever. I'm annoyed that the person who probably picked one up off the BHH, got one troll response and one piece of advice that didn't look at comparison prices and just threw out a number probably lost out on 300mil+ of value because they got sniped on the item pricing thread, which is supposed to be there to help players, but often is basically throwing up a neon sign saying I don't know what this is worth, come take advantage of the situation.
Also, I'm 90% sure the thread was unlocked after I pinged. I had already responded in the 2nd price-check board on it that had already popped up about the item.
