So... I noticed that CW shop invites seem to actually be expiring all of the sudden. Not sure when it happened, but I just noticed it yesterday.

I am personally not a fan of them expiring. I would use the remaining invites to figure out who hadn't picked up their copy yet. Plus I know that some people need more time occasionally and as long as people ask me about it, I'm generally happy to send them an invite and let them sit on it until the next bonus weekend or whatever.

I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Please ping more people!

That is something I noticed as well. They've been expiring after a week for quite some time now. I find it a little bit irritating because I want to be able to make them last longer but I have yet to figure out how.

I am in your same boat. I use them to figure it out and remind them since a lot of people simply delete pings on accident and then forget. I have done this several times. :( Sadly not all things are available forever so I've missed out on a few items because of that (but that is on me really for forgetting).

Anyways, I agree that for me it's not a big deal to send out an invite and let them sit on it til the next bonus weekend, or whenever they can afford it. ^^

I think they've always expired after a week

[edit] Personally, I don't mind it, but I also can't let an invite sit for any length of time without forgetting about it entirely. I don't really ever have to send invites out, so my opinion on that is pretty irrelevant

Not true. They’ve always changed after the allotted time in the invite page so we as releasers could still see who hadn’t picked them up however the invite itself wasn’t still valid so we could still keep track

Maybe if they could implement a notice in our page or events saying the invite expired and wasn’t picked up that would help?

Yes, that would help keep things more organized for sure.

oh that's not a bad idea

I actually think the invite still worked too. It just added time on or something.

it might have. it was definitely a wonky system but having them just disappear will be a real hassle for releasers :(

Oh, I didn't realize the system worked differently on the releaser/buyer side of things.

In that case, I don't really have an opinion on how to adjust that since I don't use it ¯(ツ)

Yeah its kinda weird that its different on both ends but for us we could still see in the invite page on each item who didn't pick up their items. Sometimes I know people just forget so I'd hate for someone to lose out. I know I lock items that aren't private until claimed copies and taken and then I unlock them so this worries me.

TBH I had some invites out that people hadn't claimed in over a year but they just stayed there so while it is nice I'm sure to clear up that data if they do an event when they expire that would help a lot

I'm glad they're actually expiring now. For me personally, I feel like a week is plenty of time for people to pick up their copies of something. I prefer to be able to unlock the remaining copies for other people to be able to grab them more quickly.

That said, I do like the idea of the sender getting a notice "Soandso did not pick up their invite for XYZ and their invite has expired. Click here if you'd like to resend the invite." or something like that.

I don't think not expiring is an issue, because someone could always give a hard deadline and then delete the invites/unlock in shop if the person had failed to buy the item. Though I do understand why you'd prefer it that way. And while the did not pick up invite notification would be great, I'd still prefer to at least have the option of sending certain people one that doesn't expire. Sometimes I have friends or whatever who don't buy CWs that often and need to wait a bit until they have enough CSC to get it. If I can send the invite to them, then I don't have to worry about it anymore. I mean, it wouldn't be a big deal to just resend it, but I liked that I didn't have to.

Actually, it would be really cool for all three things. Invites expire after a week, you get a notification that X person did not claim their invite, but there was also a checkbox to make an invite unlimited.

(also, your avatar is awesome right now)

Don't mind me. I'm just sitting over here being flabbergasted that people go up to a year without picking up their items, because if I can't pay for something right away, I don't ask for it without letting the person who's releasing it know that I need to wait a couple of days before payday/bonus weekend/after a check clears/whatever.

And if I can't pay for it within a week or so, I don't ask for it at all. I put it on my WL and hope someone will sell me one later.

Sometimes there are issues where, when items have been denied over and over, or have been in limbo for a really long time, I have to ask for time to pay because I wasn't sure the item was ever going to come out after months and months (I waited over a year for something I slotted on once) and spent my csc on something else, but even then I try to make it right ASAP.

I know that my life is different because I'm single and have no children (although I once had to cancel an Etsy commission I really wanted because of an emergency vet bill) but I feel like in that type of emergency situation as a buyer I'd just tell the seller flat out that I won't be able to do it. And as a releaser, which I will be even though I'm not one now. if it was someone I knew and I was sure it wasn't a case of "dog ate my homework" and they were telling the truth, I'd probably just comp them that time as long as they didn't make a habit of it. (I mean, I'm in chat groups and on Discord with a bunch of you, and I'd totally be sympathetic to 'omg, had to take the baby to the hospital, won't have free cash till a month from now' from any of you guys.)

Wow. Just...wow.

I'm totally okay with invites expiring because I feel people really shouldn't ask for things that they absolutely know they can't pay for in a reasonable frame of time, particularly if they don't actually tell the seller the situation up front. But I'm not okay with the releasers not knowing the invites expired.

And is there no way that you can't just stash a copy somewhere and make it available later for someone who has a legitimate financial emergency come up unexpectedly?

I guess I've just had a very different experience than you with the invites. I know before they just renewed, and I've had people argue with me when I've canceled them over a week later when they should have expired on their own, just because the price increased on the item when I unlocked it. It's annoying, and it makes me feel like a lot of people don't take invites seriously or bother to pick up their items because it'll be there 'when they're ready' which is incredibly.... disrespectful in some cases, especially when the releaser has people waiting for the item to unlock so they can grab their own copies. Most of my friends pick their copy up pretty quickly, or if they know it's going to be a while, I usually snag a copy and vault it till they're ready to prevent the line from holding up. (I know not everyone can do that, I am simply explaining my own experience!) A timer would be 10/10 to add to the invites tbh. A day number limit, or if you put in like 00 it makes it infinite idk, that would be awesome though. :)

I must say the few invited items I send out. If it gets deleted I would just resend it out. If that person still wants it. If not. No big deal.

I try to pay for my invites on a timely basis. But sometimes I need a poke because I might of deleted the ping by accident.

I know. I’m not a big CW releaser.

I didn't know the invites were actually expiring now but I don't really have a problem with it since a week is plenty of time to pick up a copy, though I do think a notice if one has expired would be nice in case someone pops up 2 months later and says I didn't send them an invite when I remember doing so. Then I could just explain the invite expired.

lol never mind me, I can't read xD

I don't mind invites expiring, I think the time pressure is good tbh I wish there was a list of buyers to help keep track of invites once they get used up (would also be nice to see who bought unlocked items too)

I can honestly say one problem with the invites and people missing them is VERY common during site events because the event telling you that you have an invite is mixed with the flowering/dancing/kissing events so if you're not used to going to your smail every day during those invents they're super easy to miss.

That being said there are also some people that are notorious for never picking up their claimed items and those people I agree are just rude and shouldn't slot if they can't pay.

But I know I myself found during this last years holiday events if I didn't check my smail every day I didn't see the invites. I keep hoping they'll make CW invites into their own category

My problem isn't with those people who genuinely missed the event. I always send out pings or comment reminders.

My problem is 100% with people who were trying to take advantage of the invites not expiring before and that's why I support them expiring OR releasers being able to type in their own day amount. I personally have a 48 hour window in my shop rules on picking up copies when it's NOT during an event, so I'd love to be able to type in 2 days.

I agree being able to put a specific time frame would be awesome. I think if we had a little more leeway with there it would be awesome.

And I also agree the people taking advantage need to stop. Lately I haven’t had that as much thankfully but there are a few people I avoid because of repeated failure to pay

You know, now that I'm thinking about it, I do have more problem with people taking their sweet time to claim their invites, than there are people who I knowingly let take their time. So yeah, I wouldn't mind expiring as long as I got a notification that it expired so I could resend it if needed, or at least know who claimed but didn't actually grab their copy. The main reason I like to send out invites even to people that I know need a while, is so that I don't get confused and forget who I've sent one to and who I haven't. But as long as I got a notification, it would be easy to resend one.

I just had a knee jerk reaction because I know someone didn't pick up their copy of something I recently released, but I don't know who it was since the invites expired and disappeared. You know, we wouldn't even necessarily need a notification. It could just show as "expired" on the invite page so we can see who let theirs lapse. It would still require me to resend for certain people, but I could live with that. Though I really would like it if people would get a notification when their invite for an item expired so that'd be a kick in the behind to start paying more attention and claiming items faster.
