so.. where does one start when they've been gone most of the past two years? I guess with saying hey'all, and letting things go from there. It's hard to come back after such a long time, thinking the world's gone insane after being part of a controversial event because of the colour of your skin, the tornadoes, losing my computer, then my cellphone.. I kinda liked being locked away from everything but life had other plans. Most recently getting back into life because a storm trapped your brother because he didnt/couldnt get out of Morehead City fast enough and while trying to get to him without realizing an even bigger monster was going to hit Tyndall AFB head on where your kid is stationed and that was just over the past month.

If I'm being honest, when I found out we had lost Joan (Marreshaann) ... my dear, dear friend and birthday-twin to cancer -- knowing how hard she fought -- all the emails, the smails, well I didnt know if I would ever return. But my SIDA kept texting me and here I am, hoping to be able to get back into the fun we found here before everything went so wrong.

(LOVE my choker btw) , , . -ie bby, and what's left of my group the LairBears and anyone who recognizes the name scrolling by, I got no excuses, just thought I'd stop back in and say hey, I'm alive and back online. I got no way to deal with the 1k events so.. catch me up in comments or I guess pings, if I can remember what the hell I'm doing I'll get back to ya'll -- but remember I live on indian time, we dont need clocks cuz we don't use them xD

I just finished my master's degree. That's what kept me away for so long... I was working in addition to being a teaching or research assistant AND doing school full-time. And of course... I have a family. I barely had time to breathe for years. I just finished a week or so ago.

It is disgusting how racism and violence is now perceived as okay. Wtf. It's just... deeply disturbing to my psyche. I see a bit of it in academia too... and they should all know better! :(

Hi Laurie gosh so good to hear from you. You and Joan on bday update list already, Joan’s will be kept on list in her memory. I didn’t add a ping to add to your events. I flew over Scotland on the way to Egypt and thought of Joan. I have been in Kuwait and heading to Egypt right now, I am at the airport. So strange I got a bottle of water (the only one other water were different brands) that was bottled in Scotland, and I thought is this a nudge from Joan and some of my ancestors. I've always had my very small family. My son is 10 now. :o And my husband and I have been together for 18 years this year... and married for 10. Time flies.

!! omg it's been forever! And I would like to think that too.. losing her was harsh and unfair. I was not ready to say goodbye, I'm still not ready.

Me.. I still spend time at camp but only when they need help with beadwork or teaching traditional ways. I'm not big on looking for trouble, it finds me without much help as it is and some of the ones who came last summer wanted the media and Embridge to notice them. Thanks but no thanks, losing the use of one foot at Standing Rock was as far as I'm physically prepared to go unless I have no choice. When the Sandpiper is pushed through and they come, I will stand with my people and fight but until then I'm good right where I'm at. I'm pretty focused on Tyndall AFB right now anyways, my bug was stationed there, and it's like literally gone. Like the hand of God came down in the shape of a hurricane with a gigantic eraser and wiped it off the map. No injuries but jesus what a mess. It'll take years to rebuild the coast line city and the base, not to mention Panama City where she had to leave everything behind.

Oh, I'm going to see that, ! I love Shirley Jackson (We Have Always Lived in the Castle won out for favorite novel of hers, over Haunting of Hill House though). I adore the 1963 film... and I liked the 90's one too, though it was pretty fluffy.
