Nice to see someone else around who had been together for ages before marriage and kids. It always made sense to me! ;)

same, we got engaged after a yr together but took us so long to set the date lol
tacklehugs So good to see you again! I hope you're here to stay. It's good to surround yourself with people who love you. Especially when life is challenging and troublesome. β€
hehehe... I'd say that's a pretty long engagement!
We didn't have a wedding thing... just hit the courthouse and paid for our marriage license. It was a last minute sort of thing, since I wanted him to be able to make medical decisions for me before we had our son.
I guess we're sorta practical people. Neither of us wanted a wedding. My mum told me later that she always assumed that, if I ever got married, it'd be out in the woods with a handful of people... or at the courthouse with no one but the guy. She got a phone call a few days later that went something like... "Oh, we got married, by the way." XD

we did registry office ( I guess thats like your courthouse ) had family and a friend there, then had the gathering at parents house, it was alittle low key, but it worked, would love to have got married in the woods with a horse and carriages to get me there but never happened
Heh, I've been with my other half for over 20 years now... we still haven't tied the knot! LMAO! I suppose common law makes us married in a sense. Just don't have a piece of paper proving it ;)
Yeah, the courthouse is where you register your marriage... fill out paper work and whatever. Sounds like the same thing. We grabbed a few staff people there to be witnesses... it was just the two of us. Whatever. Afterward, we walked home through the snow. I was very very pregnant and waddled a fair bit, but otherwise, it was pleasant. ;)
Horses are pretty but... they kinda freak me out. Like, big animals scare me. Horses, cows... π

fair enough, I wanted that bit of paper lol, but I know many that dont sometimes the simple things work, some weddings are just too much
Nothing wrong with that, love! ;) Really, there's no reason to get married... until there's a reason to get married. We did it literally just so he could take care of anything that came up at the hospital. The tax break for filing jointly was nice too I guess. But we had never planned on getting married.
The happiest couples I know tend to be the ones who just lived together forever and ever... either before marriage or without a marriage.
You're not kidding! My brother-in-law's wedding was that sort... huge church wedding with like 600 people. It was the longest ceremony I've ever witnessed, with both of their ministers plus an ordained friend each taking turns doing some sort of vow-like thing with them. They also took breaks to have everyone in attendance sing some sort of hymn and doing prayers together. I'm an atheist, so that was... awkward. I don't know the words to any of this stuff. My husband was in the wedding party too... standing in front of everyone and poorly mouthing prayers he didn't know. I was amused... he was not. XD

- so glad to see you post! Heartbreaking what you have gone through, I can't imagine. Your event list must have exploded when you logged in. Sending hugs your way...it is true that it is not the same without you around here...β€
hugs It's wonderful to see you and know that you're ok, at least to a decent enough degree that you can come back. I haven't got much energy today - things have been rather rough in the medical arena lately - but I've been thinking of you often.
OMG, color me joyously shocked! You are so strong, dear lady, yet still you rise. Don't need to tell you how much you've been missed and thought of. Hope you have everything you need. As always, I am amazed at people in general as greed takes over their hearts and minds. You've been through so much and I hope the worst is over. Come play.
Welcome back my sweet. There is no need for excuses!! Life is life and we cant escape it all the time. Take your time, we are here for you. I for one am here if you need anything just let me know!!! <3 <3 :)
: All of us in the Lair love our Momma Bear, we draw such strength, warmth and love from you, especially your Little One. It's so good to hear from you my Dear. Happy Morostide. I send you love and cookies. (I was going to send an entire dozen, but I had to eat one to make sure that they were right proper cookies.)
