as in, how do each of you do yours, specifically? what do you think is a good way to set up drawers? i found it a huge, redundant, and annoying-to-navigate mess when i had things organized by 'layer,' especially after they changed it to the whole ((vastly superior)) 30-items-total deal and every item was its own layer; in my old system when i wanted lips i had to wade through all the eyes and scars in the same layer, and when i wanted a pet i had to search through multiple layers for the same type of item... it was inconvenient, so i decided to work on something a little different ((with 'Misc' ofc being for piercings, tattoos, accessories, facial/body hair, cuts, dirt smudges, etc)):
All None 00: Favorites 01. Head: Hair 02. Head: Misc 03. Face: Eyes 04: Face: Lips 05: Face: Misc 06: Body: Tops 07. Body: Pants 08. Body: Shoes 09. Body: Bags 10: Body: Misc 11. Stuff ((for things like books, dolls, vehicles, RC cars, umbrellas, balloons, flowers...)) 12. Places ((backdrops + environmental items like bushes, fences, lighting... whatever 'puts you in a place,' yanno?)) 13. Effects ((stencil cutouts, borders, stickers, auras / special effects that dont normally count as environmental...)) 14. Others ((creatures and robots and lifelike dolls! look how many friends we all have!)) =D 15: Changers ((body-edits that turn you into a centaur, angel, medusa, eye-demon, etc)) x. combos ((for items you only ever use combined with other items, and ones like Almost Empty Plate of Cookies)) x. junk drawer ((for stuff you dont usually wear but still want available))
for the way i put my avatars together, this is way more ergonomic. each one is labeled with 'head/face/body' despite already being ordered by their numbers because it helps direct my eyes to what im looking for, and 'Bags' has its own drawer just because i really like bags lol... but of course theyre all inherently personalizable (('Ears/Tails' for fursonas, 'Weapons' and 'Armor' for knights, or if you just have a bigger thing for 'Hats' than 'Bags,' or dont even need a 'junk' drawer, etc etc etc)). i like how they all fit into the dropdown menu so neatly this way ((at least on my screen)), and im pretty sure it covers most of what i need... but its not perfect, and im no expert. i still need somewhere to put my 'fantasy' items like demonic weapons and wizard-y cloaks and cyborg augmentations, and whatnot. i usually have a very casual, real-life style but i still like to have these around for costumes or when im in a fantasy mood, but its annoying to have to wade through them, especially since i made this system to STOP the wading lol. and im still not sure how to categorize some items, like raincloaks ((are they hats? tops? costumes?))... so i thought id run it by you guys and see if you spot any 'rookie mistakes,' have any pro-tips i could use, or have a system in a different style that might help similar people with their organization woes. =)
or, if youre having problems with organization like i was, maybe this can help you. ^^ i know that despite the imperfections, it made making avatars a way smoother experience for me, lol. **
there was a thread like this not a week ago in help&questions What&;s your wardrobe system? but let me quote what I said there
