What about a color called Volcanic? Pets could look like black hardened lava with areas where lava seeps out... Maybe there could be parts of the bet that look obsidian or like ash is falling behind them. I know there's already reborn, but I feel the imagery would be different enough. I feel like the molten lava could create some interesting art.

That sounds exactly like neopet's magma. I am not fond of this idea, because I don't think it would be different enough from reborn. Many are going to say just get an overlay. I do like the idea of obsidian, but personally would rather like crystal rock formations over a whole sleuth of pets that are black glass.

Also are you suggesting this as a color fill? So basic pose. Or are you suggesting this as a special color? So a distinct pose. That way I know how to add this suggestion to the master list.

I don't know if you should add it to the list if you think it's going to be that heavily criticized. It's my second day on this site after years of not having an account, so apologies for my ignorance on not specifying a color overlay vs. a special color with a pose. I wasn't thinking of Neopet's colors because I don't use Neopets. I don't know that I gave enough description for the Volcanic idea... I suppose it would be hard to make it different enough from reborn.

I was thinking of a special colour, but I don't know what the pose would be for the initial vision I layed out. I like your thinking that it would be cool to have a special color that was different rock crystal formations. Obsidian would look cool because of the dark glassy surface. Crystals like pyrite cubes or bismuth formations would have potential to look cool as well. Maybe the pets could be laying down as if looking like mountains or rocks with these crystal formations growing off of them.

I'm sorry for posting a suggestion without really thinking it through too much.

Hey I like the idea of crystal pets, thats evolved from your first thought of volcanic ones, thats sort of how this thread works, you may get some for and some against but dont get disheartened, and welcome to Subeta!

Haha, maybe I should make a new thread pertaining to the crystal pets idea. Someone's already suggested crystal pets at some capacity, though (it's under Crystal Genetech, and they mention ice sculpture looking crystal pets). And the idea isn't mine alone since Permanent mentioned it first.

I'm imagining crystal pets that look more like rock structures (like the pet is laying in some pose that makes them look more mountain or rock than pet, like you have to look a bit to see the pet, and there are crystals coming out of the rock to form features like wings, spikes, feathers, etc.)

Oh no! Don't take it as harsh criticism. My interpretation is neopet's magma but you stated it was not necessarily that. When it comes to color ideas that are similar to currently existing one, you will get a lot of people stating you can get a custom overlay to suit your purpose. I was merely prepping you for it. Still since you feel it would be a special color I will link it as such on the topic. Just in case I am going to include some images of what I was interpreting and then feel free to further clarify.

EDIT: Also so you know you can edit your first post, as well as the topic title. Just in case, in the future you see the topic shifting and leaning to a newer idea. You can edit it to stay relevant to what is being discussed.

I'm not that familiar with the custom overlay aspect of the site, so I'll have to look into it more.

I guess I"m picturing a more active volcano. Like the pet is dripping sort of with uncooled magna, like this guitar.

And maybe there's ash rising up around it. The eyes could be red or shiny black and the pose is the pet stalking, being sort of weighed down by the lava.

I think at this point, it's not that strong of an idea. But I think if done right, it could be visually interesting. I think the rock crystal pets is a stronger idea.

This was an idea I suggested in the past, and I still think it would be a great fit for the site as well. I've never agreed with the whole "Neopets did it, so we can't do it" argument because their pets are stuck in a static pose. Ours are capable of being in whatever pose the artist wants, and that freedom allows for more unique design choices, such as the examples you just posted.

That all said, I give full support. Magma =/= fire, so I'm all for it.
