❄ Make it impossible to dance with frozen/inactive users - thank you, ! What it says on the tin. This would especially be useful for the Masquerade forums, where people hold contests, and you can't see if a user is frozen or not because the username is hidden. If they can't accept your dances, you're wasting your time by sending them, and that ruins the fun. ❗ confirmed this as a glitch! It will get fixed for next Masquerade, hopefully!
❄ Quick'n'easy HA likes! - thank you, ! You can manually track down the usernames/IDs of the HAs on the dancefloor, but it's a bit tedious if all you want to do is like their amazing outfit. Maybe make it so that you can like a dancefloor HA by left-clicking on it?
❄ Integrating the dance text within the site layout I'd like the dancing text to be included within Subeta's layout. Right now, it's on a blank page with just the "You have invited the mysterious stranger to a dance, and have 4 minutes until you can dance again!" text displaying. Feels pretty disconnected. :c
Adding the text and the user's HA to the invitation page would fix that! So we have a general idea of who we've inviting without spoiling the Masquerade mystery. ;)
You have invited this mysterious stranger to a dance! You need to rest for 5 minutes until you can dance again.Example!
❄ Separate events into Accepted Dance & Dance Invitations categories I would reallyreally love it if the dance events were separated. So dance invites and accepted dances would be in two separate categories instead of all being lumped under "Other" events. That way we can clear all the dance invites in one go while going through the accepted dances and their ballroom pages one by one.
❄ Quick Feet buff notification An event for when we get the Quick Feet buff would be nice. Or some kind of notification when it expires & activates.
❄ Random dance partners
And as always, enjoy! Interrupting the Chef John moment to plug an old suggestion for a random dance partner sCode, if it's at all possible.
[mystery=dance], maybe?
Something that picks from a list of users that have been online in the past 24 hours and have a mask. I feel that it fits the Masquerade spirit to pick a random dance partner.
❄ Make the "accept dance" page more aesthetically pleasing
The dance acceptance page could also use a tiny bit of a spit-shine? That long line of text is making my brain itch horribly. :'D
You can spend them in the Steamwork Menagerie or the Libertine Lounge! (Go to the dance floor!)
[sub]Make the link into a button so it stands out a bit more, maybe?[/sub]Example of tweaked page for an accepted dance
As a token of appreciation for this dance, they give you # Lounge/Steamwork Trinkets!
Yes please, I love those suggestions! Would be awesome if they could be implemented :D
I support all these suggestions, especially the separation of categories for the dance events. I've always disliked how they kept popping under the "Other" category and wondered why they didn't have their own categories
Added another little visual update idea to the first post. :'D Because that 2-mile sentence when you accept a dance is kind of unpleasant to look at.
[sub]Yes I am letting my inner nitpick shine during events. Can'tstop won'tstop.[/sub]
All really nice suggestions, definite support from me!

These are all great suggestions! I support them all! Would really increase the general usability for Masq!
This is not super complicated, but can easily have mistakes. It's unlikely I will work on it this Masquerade due to the circumstances and time/effort involved.

I see, thank you for explaining everything! :D
Hm, but it is still possible to make it a tiny bit more aesthetically pleasing even without plugging it into the main site layout, so to speak, or is that also out of the question due to how complex the coding is?
:'D And aww, that stinks. Understandable, though! I guess every dancefloor has to have some streakers. We'll just have to chalk it up to people peering too deep into the punchbowl.
I mean, it's literally the text you see when you click the Dance button. I think most people would not want to see big images or pieces of the site layout there. There were even a few complaints when the kiss link briefly showed the candy heart during Survival, and that was just a small image.

... Took a bit for my brain to catch up, but I think I got it. :'D The link from the dance=USER code and the dance link from the forums display the same text/lead to the same result page so to speak, yeah? They're not two separate things. And making them separate is a wee bit of a clusterfuck.
And yep, I remember that. :'D My fault entirely that time, I forgot about the forum kissing because I didn't bother with it. I thought you just got a floaty popup notification telling you who you've kissed and how much time you have left, like with the fairies and pumpkins.
I actually checked this year, but considering everything, it looks like the only thing you could do is make the remaining time bold. Kind of a bummer, but I understand!
I really like your suggestions =) May I add one suggestion to your dancing improvements?

Thank you! And sure! Oof, that sounds like something that should really be fixed for next year's Masq. :/
Hope you don't mind me pinging you again, because the fact that you can dance with frozen users seems like a pretty big deal. Especially in Masq forums where people run contests. You can't see the username, so you don't know if the person running the contest got frozen or not. Kind of a dealbreaker since you're not going to get any trinkets back whatsoever because they can't accept your dances.
Also, is it possible to change and block this for inactive users (1+ year afk) as well, for all holidays that require a certain dose of activity between people? Seems like a bad idea to be able to spam inactive/frozen users with events when they'll most likely never get around to clearing those events and they'll just hang around in the site's logs.
The frozen users thing is a glitch that will be fixed. The inactive users thing is a non-issue as they wouldn't be posting in the forums anyway.

Thank you very much! :D
I brought up the inactive users in case of other events. For Vesnali, for example, you don't have to bother with the forums. You can just spam an inactive friend with flowers and get coins instantly. There's no accepting throwing a wrench in the works, like there is with Masq. Either way, you know about that more than I do. :'D I just thought it was something slightly off that might warrant some attention.
Honestly I dont really like waiting on the dance floor to load. Like it's cute but the page lags for me while it's pulling the avatar. It's worse when the site is worse and better when the site is better. I've stopped waiting on it though, just long enough to see if I get Boudewijn. Not really sure what to suggest to fix it though as the problem is mostly solved by me just closing the tab. Maybe if it was just the main two HAs on the background?
This may be fixable by using an adblocker on the ballroom background, but I imagine you'd have to adblock all avatar images :/

Sometimes all the HAs pop up right away and sometimes it'll pull so long and mine won't even pop up. Sometimes it's just the main two and the background ones are broken. Not waiting for it seems to be the solution. Fortunately Bou is quick to appear when he does so I don't miss him.
Yeah, I think it's a non-issue with other holidays because there's no penalty for throwing flowers at an inactive user, or kissing them or stuff. With Masquerade, you can lose out on trinkets since you never get the trinkets if your dance is never accepted. But with other holidays you get the currency right away, so I don't think there is a problem.
I'm sorry to hear you have trouble loading it! This is due to a known issue with the way HAs are generated. At the very least I can say the problem has not and is not being ignored. It's just that the solution is taking us some work.
A few months ago Keith attempted to implement a caching solution which actually did speed things up a LOT, but it had one problem: HAs would get cached based on the server you happened to be on, so what would happen is, people would change their HAs and but their HA wouldn't stick. Like you'd refresh the page and it would sometimes show you the new one, sometimes show you the old cached one. So we had to revert it.
We are working on solving the problems we ran into, because we do think caching is a solution, we just ran into some issues with it that need to be smoothed out before we can attempt putting it into action again.
Unfortunately in the meantime there's not much that either of us can suggest to the other. I hope it helps at least to know the problem's diagnosed and being worked on.

I love all these suggestions ... and I'd also like to add an idea.
Could we have a way to Like the HAs of dancers? It's really convoluted to track them down right now, but some are just so awesome that they need extra <3s. Not just for dance invites and dance acceptances, but also for people we see on the dancefloor.
