I just find it funny that Neopets is doing this and it looks very very similar, they didn't even care to make some changes..

The steampunk urks me because it looks like just clothes. Also the gears on the left forepaw are messed up. Origami one was cool.

ehhhh neopets has had a steampunk world for like a decade now so i don't think they're trying to copy subeta, they're just using what they already have imo lol

it's just looks cheap imo, and yes the Origami is nice.

it's just that the design looks very very similar to my eye, Steampunk is not so limited to one design.. and Subeta had their own ways to copy too lol

Took me a life to find the poll because of their great news system. Anyway, the Burlap Doll could also be Nostalgic inspired as it's a pretty flexible colour. Normally, I would think it's just a coincidence but I know they did something similar in the past so I wouldn't be surprised if they copied something, regardless of their source of "inspiration". Copy or not this is going to change nothing anyway, so enjoy your new colour, Neo players. [sub]Hope it's origami[/sub]

tbh steampunk is just a poorly redone version of the robot pets they already have (if you take off their outer casings, they have a jumble of gears and wires underneath)

Origami was rad tho and I'm pulling for it even tho how do you customize an origami hissi

Truth be told I couldn't even tell you what that Lenny was supposed to be if the OP didn't point it out. I thought they revamped Jelly.

If we're going to point fingers about copying, we could say that some of our Nostalgic pets copied Neopets' plushie color. In the end it doesn't really matter, there's a million and one ways to go about any of these concepts, along with the fact that subeta's pets are higher quality.

Good grief, I almost thought these were fan edits. Neopets has really had a drop in a quality since I left.

That said, the concept of steampunk and toys aren't exactly original. Subeta just happened to use them as pet colors first. That doesn't mean Neopets' doesn't look like a sorry knock-off, but these days I feel like Neopets is by a default a sorry knock-off of what it used to be.

Yeah IDK if any of these are necessarily direct copying, since people on Neopets have been asking for all kinds of new colors over there since forever, it's just taken them so long to get their stuff together and kind of put out more content (even if it's crappy).

Oragami pet for one of the Nostalgic colors does sound pretty cool though, it would totally make sense for one of the Shengui Guo species.

The steampunk pet looks like it was made by someone who just started using Gimp.If you didn't tell me it was official I would have thought a fan made it.

Though as everyone else already said this can't really be considered copying.

what still manages to amaze me is how the art hasn't improved in 10+ years while subeta art improves in 10 seconds

It's a shit site but we all knew that.

No way of telling if they were inspired by Subeta's colours, since these are things that commonly exist in the world. Regardless, their art is hideous, so who cares.
