So today I decided to try out fighting. Went with the starter set I was provied with in the beginner guide, fought Willowisp... and lost. Tried again and... lost again. I got one-shot each time. So I was thinking, well, maybe I should try something easier, so I fought the Aboxalypse. And... well.. somehow my weapons disappeared and now I'm not dealing any damage? And it's also not dealing damage to me so now we're kind of stuck.. What do I do? Help... I don't get any of this >.<

Which weapons were you trying to use? Some weapons are once per battle (abbreviated OPB), so after you use them they will disappear for the remainder of that battle (they'll still be in your armory afterwards though, they don't disappear for good unless they are specified one use only items).

Aboxalypse is a bit of a different challenger because it doesn't fight back against you, it's just a big punching bag. But if you don't have any weapons to use, then you can't do any damage to it. If you get stuck in a battle like that, you can go to the Statistics page of the Battle Coliseum and there should be an option to forfeit the battle.

Thanks! At least I managed to get out of that battle now. Looking at the weapons again, like I said those are the ones you get from the beginner tutorial, and apparently they are almost all once per battle. The Rainbow Star Rod says it's infinite, but according to subetalodge it's semi-breakable and it did disappear a couple rounds in, for me. I guess I need to find myself a good start set of weapons, and of course train...

Training your pet would be a good first step. I would also recommend checking out the Weapon Guide and Scroll List which I'll link below:

Scrolls can only be used if your pet has enough Alchemy Points (AP) that you get from increasing their intelligence either by reading books or using stat boosters. But scrolls can be just as helpful in battling as weapons, so it's good to be familiar with them.

The Weapon Guide lists various useful weapons in order of their Tier starting in the 3rd post. That should help you find some attackers and things that aren't just OPB. Some things are expensive, but others aren't too bad if you save up for them.
