I've taken a couple hiatuses from the wonderful world of subeta and this last time...a lot has seemed to change! A long time ago I used to try to get one of my pets battle ready, and after doing some reading...well I have to admit I am slightly overwhelmed. Thanks in advance for your time!

I am trying to prepare my pet Ossified and I am certain he is quite outdated. I'd love to know what to update, what to save up for, and how on earth to build a scroll set??

Tier 7 Level: 379 Health: 925 / 925 Strength: 948 Defense: 922 Speed: 923 Intelligence: 1193 AP: 74

Set: Icy Freezing Rod of Doom UltimaPlus Tag Lightbulb Nunchucks Malevolent Grimfruit Classic Hero Sword Vulty Claw Fireside Bow Phoenix Quill

Scroll Set:

I have NONE. AP = 74

From your set, the Phoenix Quill is a keeper, but I think you've outgrown everything else.

I would first upgrade your Icy Freezing Rod of Doom to a Gorgun or Gate Keeper Collar of Slavery. They are the same price in the user shop search, but if you have enough battle tokens saved, the Gorgun is cheaper from the Battle Shop. You can earn tokens from battle quests or regular battles.

Next, I would pick up a Recycle Blaster as it turns one of your opponent's weapons into a junk weapon that only does 1 icon. Very handy at any tier.

Item Hunters Bomb is very cheap and does 45-63 icons. Usually bombs are once per battle, but this one is semi-breakable so you may be able to use it more than once.

Panzer Hydra Blade is a newer weapon and is also very good for T7. It starts off with 30-33 icons and a 7% heal, but grows with your pet until T9 so you can keep it around for a while.

For your second attacker, Fruit Bone Dagger, Steel Throwing Darts, Music Note Axe, Hard Earth Battle Hammer, and Featherweight Axe of Gusts are all pretty good. Pick one or two, it just depends on your budget :D

Flayed Lord Breastplate is good if you need some affordable defense.

If you want some other weapon ideas, just look here The Weapon Guide.

How much are you willing to spend on scrolls? Singed Stuffing Scroll is very cheap and works well as a starter scroll, but scrolls quickly grow expensive so I wanted to ask first.

This is an amazing amount of detailed information, thank you very, very much! I'm excited to get back into it all once again.

I'm definitely willing to spend on scrolls. I enjoy having goals on sites like this, it keeps me a bit more active. Unless the best scrolls are completely out of reach before I reach the next tiers and would require to replace what I just earned...? But I'm not sure scrolls quite work that way?

I remember scrolls being taught to pets? I don't even know if I'm remembering that correctly...

About two years ago, they changed how weapons and scrolls are used, so they are all in one place and not tied to a single pet. Now you can use your weapons and scrolls in up to 3 or 5 (with a GA) different sets. So, if you need to switch to a set you made for a specific tier or a specific amount of AP, you can do that very easily :D

Scrolls usually fall into a few different categories: ones that freeze, ones with strong defense, bombs you can use once per battle, and infinite use scrolls that can do a bit of everything.

Scrolls that do a bit of everything and become staples in your set include Singed Stuffing Scroll (9-13 attack icons + 4% heal), but many people prefer Aftershocks Scroll (22 icons + 7% heal) and Ocean Currents (23 icons + 8% heal) as the scrolls to work toward.

Perilous Whirlpool Scroll is usually recommended because it is cheap (~1m to make yourself), has a chance to freeze, and provides strong fire defense, but it is only once per battle. Gelaspell Scroll is infinite use with 20-26 icons of attack and also has a chance to freeze. I also like Assassin Scroll (17-20 icons) because it has a chance to freeze, but it can heal you anywhere from 10% to -3%, so it can make you lose HP as well. The latter two use up more AP than Perilous Whirlpool, though.

Solid defensive scrolls are Cobalt Eternal (in the Millionaire Center) and Sancturia Exodin (should be cheaper to make yourself at the Shrine). Most people stock up on a few Cobalt Eternals since they provide great defense from common opponent attack icons at a stable price.

All of the other frequently used ones are kind of expensive so I'll skip those. You can earn most of them from challengers in later tiers and save yourself a lot of sP 😛 But if you want to look at more options, check out this thread: The Complete Scroll List :)

Building a scroll set is mostly about maximizing how you use your AP. There are infinite combinations based on a battler's budget, preferences, and what would work best against certain opponents. So, the rest is mostly up to you 😛

I think that explains a lot of where my confusion comes from. I really like the new system! (So far)

Scrolls sound a bit confusing (especially making them) but this is an excellent start, so thank you very much!

Might I ask...I have never ever spent any of the exp I have earned while battling (erratically) with Ossified. Is this a mistake or should I in fact be saving up for the future?

You're welcome :D

EXP costs increase every time you go up a tier (until T10) so it would be cheaper to spend it as soon as possible. From T10-T12, the cost of stats from EXP remains the same so at that point it would be okay to save it up.
