I've hesitated to post anything about this but it feels increasingly important to mention. Those keeping up with or even just catching glimpses of current goings on in the United States have likely seen a bit about the situation in Charlottesville, VA. For those who aren't particularly familiar with me, let alone my location, that is extremely close to home. The social and political tension around here is steadily rising. Also rising is my level of anxiety regarding the safety of my friends, family, and self. Living out in the country, I am less likely to get caught in the middle of a brawl on the street but I am more likely to encounter very direct, personal attacks and I quite openly fall into a few potential target groups.

I realize that I'm being a bit vague but it's not an easy topic for me to discuss right now and, to be entirely honest, it's got me a bit paranoid. My reason for bringing it up is mainly to let people know where I am, both physically and mentally, and to say that for the time being I will likely be interacting even less than usual. Subeta is a part of my routine and a good source of distraction but I have very little spare energy left at the end of the day.

I'm sorry this is happening. Not being able to feel safe in your community is just so wrong. I would like to be able to help, but I really don't know what to say.

Try to find the energy to do things to take care of yourself, to give yourself a break. Being worried all the time is very stressful and exhausting.

So sorry you don't feel safe. That is terrible to not feel safe in your community like that, and they aren't doing anyone any favors by behaving the way they are. I hope it's all stopped very soon.

- I'm so sorry that you're feeling this :( It is so scary what is happening all around us. I have personally found quiet meditation lately to be very helpful to ease the anxiety and dread that these events instill. It doesn't remove it completely, but for a few moments at least, there is peace within myself. Sending you some hugs hug
