I've recently been collecting pokemon cards again - the newer sets - and don't really have anyone to talk about them with. Let me know if you collect them! :)
DUDE POKEMON CARDS ARE MY LIFE
... well were since i only buy them occasionally now ahaha but i still have all my albums in my dad's place and i'm actually really proud of my collection okay
do you also play the card game? c:
Nope, I just collect :p I'm not really one for competition really
Do you have any from the newer sets? I'm trying to finish up Evolutions and starting the Sun&Moon base set. My dad apparently ordered a couple boxes so I am waiting eagerly for those to arrive. Really wanting that full art mega charizard :x If I get it, I'm sending it into psa to get graded
nope unfortunately i haven't bought any since... last summer i think? ; D ; it's actually a really dumb reason lol but since i used to mostly collect them as a kid/teenager when i was in italy 99% of my collection is in italian and since i'm a perfectionist i want to keep it that way and only buy them when i go back to italy lmao
hope you get it!! the highlight of my own collection is a first edition eevee~ i also have a vaporeon from the same first set but it's not first edition doubt any of them are worth much since the condition isn't amazing and afaik cards in any language other than english don't sell much, but eh i still love them |D
super jealous of those who have the dedication to actually complete sets though like wow the closest i got was one of the diamond and pearl sets and even then i was probably at like, 70% maybe? probably less lol
You should start collecting the SuMo set in english and collect english sets from there on out :p I have a lot of older cards in japanese, but I'm not too sure about condition or what I have any more. My collection is scattered. I tend to collect for awhile then not get any then a few years later start collecting again. I need to get more organized :p
My best card atm is probably an umbreon gx hyper rare full art my gf pulled from a booster the day the SuMo set came out
Completing sets is tough especially in the sets with a lot of full arts and secret rares. If I get the charizard I'll probably just buy the other ones I need online and be done with it, though I would probably need a bunch of reverse holos but I don't care as much about them
My early adolescence pride and joy was a complete collection of the first four sets/editions (word?) -- Classic, Jungle, Fossil, and Rocket. It dropped off after that, but I got a good bunch of the gym leader sets and of the jotho sets (and I think some Hoenn ones? But I'm not sure). And of course promo cards. Although I haven't played in years, heh.
(My fave card is the Mew card linked to the 2nd film)
A strange buzzing sound, occasionally varying in pitch. Speak wind, and cast the world into chaos.
Sadly not anymore, but I used to play with Pokemon Cards against my dad. It was so much fun!! Some day I'll buy myself a set again and start playing again (maybe against my boyfriend, lol)! I recommend learning how to play the card game, I'm not sure if they made it more complex with the newer pokemons (I doubt it), but it's definitely worth it!^^

Depends how long ago you played, but they do keep adding new features to it - the newest one being the gx pokemon cards.
I have the card game for gba (or was it gbc...) and I really liked that but I care so much about condition of my cards and I just don't really like the competition
I sort of collect the cards, but I'm more of a player. I do keep lots of cool cards like full arts and stuff like that, but I don't really care much about completing sets or getting all the full arts from a set, or anything like that. I keep whatever I get and I'm happy with it. lol I mainly just try to pull stuff for my or my friends' decks, or at least trade for stuff for our decks.
There are some cards that I specifically collect though. Any Dragonite card, and any Darumaka card. Dragonite is my favorite Pokemon of all time, and then I think Darumaka is just hilariously dopey and I love it.
Are there any cards you're after for your deck? Do you have any full art dragonites? I have the one from evolutions which I think looks pretty awesome - though I really really want that full art mega charizard.
I have a box of flashfire that should come tomorrow. I am very excited, hope to pull that secret rare charizard!
There's nothing I really need for my deck right now. I run Mega Gardevoir right now, but when the next set comes out I'm gonna do something with Tapu Lele, so my next deck isn't even out yet. Haha
I have both full art dragonites that have been released. The one from furious fists is my favorite though. I ended up pulling two full art mega charizards and one regular art, and everyone at my local card shop was jealous because no one else was able to pull one. Lmao
I don't even really know who is good for competitive play :x I have a few cards from furious fists but I've only opened dollar tree packs of that set so I don't have much. my best card from it is a lucario ex so lucky :P I've opened quite a bit of evolutions and only need the full art charizard, venusaur, and blastoise (along with a few other cards) and I have two mewtwos from it. I have 3 regular mega charizard ex cards from that set.
there aren't any close card shops here, the only one I really know of is on the other side of town 45 minutes away.
[edit] bought the last 16 packs of furious fists at the dollar tree that I know has cards and I got two full arts! Korrina and Heracross
I like the Dollar Tree packs. The only thing is, people around here are super competetive with Pokemon, so there's never any in stock. lol It's hard to find Pokemon packs anywhere in town besides the card shop actually, because as soon as the new set comes out, all the ultra competetive people go to every single store in the area and buy as much as they can. The card shop puts limits on people so that doesn't happen there. It was a nightmare trying to get all the Generations boxes when those were coming out. I had to drive 3 cities over just to get the Mew box, and it was the last one. xD
I ended up with a full art Mega Blastoise from Evolutions too. I never pulled a Mewtwo, which would've been cool, but I'm okay with that. I have a full page of Mewtwos in my binder already. haha
Also congrats on the full arts! Korrina's full art is super cool.
I went to at least five dollar trees to find one with any in stock so I lucked out :x Thanks! I was really happy getting them. I have a box of flashfire that came today and two packs of evolutions to open up in a little bit! Wish me luck :)
The mega blastoise looks really cool =) There are always a lot of cards at walmart and target and I recently learned target price matches with amazon which makes it good
[edit] box was a bust, didn't get very many ultra rares, no full arts, but I did get a Mega Charizard Ex which is what I was hoping for, but unfortunately not the secret rare version. I think I'll send it in to be graded though. I'm very happy to get that one :)
Sadly not anymore, though honestly I haven't really thought of buying any recently. I'm trying to save money right now since my fiance and I have started the house-hunting process anyway lol.
I still have my pokemon cards in my parents' basement. I mainly only have cards from Gen. 1 and 2, mostly 1. I used to play the card game with my cousins for fun back in elementary and middle school. I remember getting so hyped when I got the holographic Charizard card from a pack.
And do Dollar Trees still sell pokemon cards?? I remember buying these little packs where there was like a pack of 12 cards or whatever and then a pokemon figurine and I used to buy those all the time (and by I, I mean my mom because I was so young lol). I have not seen them in a Dollar Tree since elementary school.
I'd like to have a Flygon card though. I don't own one and I like that pokemon. And I'm not going to lie, I've watched some unboxings (unpackings?) of the newer pokemon cards and some look super cool, like the ones with the full-art.
I love watching the unboxings on youtube :) occasionally dollar tree has them in their trading card section. I've only ever seen them at one dollar tree in town, and an empty box at another dollar tree - I've looked at probably 6 or 7 different ones? they're a dollar but you only get 3 cards, no guaranteed rare or reverse holo, but they're still fun. I feel the same way about the full arts, they're awesome looking :)
I'm a collector. I got back into them from XY and from there I haven't stopped. lol. I don't play the game however, just collect but I do plan on someday trying playing the cards again due to when I was younger I played the game all the time with my sister or other players. At the moment however I have the joy on collecting them with my dad. So far I've completed the XY starter set, Steam Siege and recently Evolutions. I'm close to completing the Sun&Moon set, just missing a couple of GX's, hyper rares and Secret rares. I have no idea if I'll ever be able to complete the set, since every GX I seem to get now is an Umbreon GX. lol
I also collect the Japan exclusives, mostly Pikachu however or Eevee or the Eeveelutions or any Pokémon that are my favourites. The main thing I collect for the cards are Eevee and the Eeveelutions. Since Eevee and the others are my most favourite Pokémon. So far I have over 750 cards to do with them, many in English, Japanese and from different countries. My niece also collects Pokémon cards, so I give her my doubles to help her with her set as she's trying to complete the Sun&Moon set too.
I'm tempted to buy when I save up enough money, a Sun&Moon box to open in hope I'll get some cards I'm missing. But I'm unsure if I should or wait to buy a full box when the next set comes out. As I've seen the Alola Ninetales GX that's gonna be released for the latest Japanese set, I'm sure it'll be in English soon too. It'll be a card on my list to get as I don't know if I'll bother trying to complete the next set out in English, depending on how many is in it to get. lol.

wow I'm jealous of your collection! :) I don't have any recent sets that are complete quite yet. I mostly need GXs and full arts from Sun and Moon, I have a few duplicate GXs though, most recently a duplicate lunala.
A box may be a good idea. You know how to map out those boxes for which packs give the URs and which give holos? it kinda ruins the fun opening them, so if you do get a box, shuffle the packs around first and make sure you're buying a sealed box.
The next set comes out in English in May iirc, should be soon (like any day now) in japan. It'll be a good set though since apparently Tapu Lele is a really good card to play with so it should be worth quite a bit, making it fun to try to pull for :P
I used to collect them, but I haven't in ages, though I have a pack that holds a special place in my heart, it was a special Kids WB "draw your own" contest, and each person that drew got the booster pack even if they didn't win. The McDonald's Happy Meal cards are tons of fun, too.
I've been collecting pokemon cards casually for years now. It started with playing the card game in elementary school, but when the other kids stopped, it turned into collecting. Now I'm starting to pick up some of the new cards that have come out recently.
Looking back over the old collection recently, it's interesting to see what was out when they were the latest generation. And I've concluded that some of my faves in the collection mostly include Pikachu and the eeveelutions, and some mythical pokemon. A few old japanese cards are also special to me.
