It's so easy to make sP on Subeta that a lot of the Games Room content isn't worth playing. They can take more time and effort than quests, and the payout isn't worth it. Plus we've got 2048 back, with nothing new to give if you already earned the achievement. :(
I'm not suggesting we increase the payouts, or that 2048 should start giving sP. Hell no we don't need that! In fact, it'd be great if we could remove sP payouts from most games, and replace it with another reward.
Original Suggestion
Here's an idea. What if the Games Room had a feature similar to the Quest Shop? There could be books, collectables, food, TC fodder, and more based on all the different games. Playing games gives you points to spend in the shop, instead of sP. And perhaps items from game related achievements could be sold there too. For A LOT of points, of course. This way, extras could be picked up for reading, galleries, TCs and so on, but not made TOO easy to get.
Edit: Just so it's clear, my idea is that this shop would work similarly to the Quest Shop. In the QS, it doesn't matter if you can't do Sarah's or Saggi's quests. You can still buy their items. In this "Games Shop", you'd just need to play any games you like to earn points to buy any items. No need to worry about not being able to buy those Cybill Sledding themed items because the game makes you queasy!

Leave the games as they are, but add a new quest type that sends you to play games. No sP reward (games that pay sP still do, but the quest won't give any extra). Rewards quest points for completion (WSQ rotation? Rarely gives extra QP, or other currencies?). Quest Shop gets new items based on the various games. This way, it uses an existing currency and special shop.
Any other ideas? What would get YOU interested in the Games Room again?
Hmm... Removing sP payout from games - maybe? I'm not sure how many people even play them for the sP since the payout is so meager. But adding another currency to the list? I'm not sure if I really want another currency when there are already so many on-site. Then again, carnival tickets are basically wizard tokens and nobody complained about those, so maybe this could work? idk.
Games overall don't really interest me past the achievement aspect. Even then, I find it hard to talk myself into playing a game for the achievement because I'm a lazy fart. :'D Even if this system was implemented, I wouldn't really feel any more motivated to play games than I do now. It would be a grindfest and those are tiring as all hell.
you get 10k for every majong win, and 20k for every pyramid win.
While I like the idea of a game shop I don't think that this would make me play games more often - to be frank, except for pet slots, there's nothing that could ever force me into grinding the games even though some of them are really nice.
I still remember how dependent on games I was on Neopets to get anywhere and how much this collided with my health (many games cause me severe nausea and vertigo)...which was one of the reasons why I left that site for good more than a decade ago.
P.S.: I wouldn't even play Cybill Sledding for 1mio sP per round, this game is my personal Subeta health nightmare.
Actually more SP per game is what would attract my attention. Most games are a waste of time for me because they don't pay enough.
I wouldn't be too happy about another added currency. Mostly, cause I do suck at most of those games. I just played a few for achieves. While with Quest Points, anyone can do a quest, most of other currencies also need just a click of a button, for games you need various combinations of skill, luck, strategy etc. No everyone has that, not everyone has a game they're good at. Adding basically prizes for games, if they aren't priced at pretty low, would mean someone has to grind for months at a game they might not even like to get that plushie for their collection. Do we really need even more of those "not unobtainable but almost" things?
I like the idea of a game point shop with items based on the different games. I do, however, agree with what serinde says when it comes to people not being good at every game. This is why I think we should get points which can be spent on anything in the shop. Even if we can't win Saheric Slide, for example, we could still buy the items based on the game from points earned playing games we are good at.
Having said this, another shop would probably be too much work for the site artists. In the next few months we've got Survival, Vesnali and the Masquerade Ball. Then there's likely to be something for the summer before all the other events later on in the year.
I'm sure more sP would encourage a lot of people to play games more, but it's not good for the economy to keep adding features that create more sP. That's why I'm suggesting games have a currency of their own, rather than sP payouts.
Yeah, that was my intention with this. I should have been clearer in my first post. Will edit! c:
You guys remember Epicon, and how quickly people got bored of games?
Unlike quests, there isn't really a random aspect to most of these games. I don't think it's as interesting as a quest shop because 90% of people will stop in the first month
I fear it's going to become tedious quickly.
I wouldn't support this, I don't want to feel obligated to play games. + we don't need more currencies
Meh...I'd prefer to get sP from the games, though I suppose some games should give a bit more sP. We don't really need yet another currency......
While I'm all in for creating more reasons to play games, I also agree on the parts that we a) shouldn't destroy what's left of the Subetan Economy by floating the market with even more sP and b) have MANY currencies on Subeta. Personally, I wouldn't even mind to have a Games Currency, but I vaguely remember that the staff doesn't want more, so they'll likely deny an idea that would cause another currency.
Just thinking out loud here ... Maybe if we'd get not a currency like "win X games, get X points, buy items in a shop", but something in the direction of "win X Chance games, get a ... is lucky forum title" or "win X Mind games, get insert cool item here? Would that work? I know there are several achievements for games that give us titles and/or items though ... hm.
'Give us more sP so we can devalue it more in the economy' yeah, no. I don't support another currency but I sure as shit don't support putting more sP in to the system
Only if they make the prizes more desirable. The only things I want out of that shop is the clown tattoos, and occasionally a minion or a plushie. It's pretty much just toys, few books, few foods, and I personally don't care for 95% of the wearables
There is lots of potential for a carnival overhaul (LET ME BRIBE RAFFLES WITH MY 357593030 TICKETS) yeah, but I feel it's more interesting of an idea than THROW SP AT PEOPLE AGAIN
The idea itself is nice, really nice but another currency is kinda meh..
I would support if one of the Carnival NPCs or a new one will be a quest giver and the quests will be games related and not items related.. then they will give one of the existing currency, can be quest points or Carnival Tickets, whatever and the items can be in the specific currency shop..
People don't seem to understand that you can't solve how expensive things are by giving people more money. It just decreases the value of every sP point, driving up the price further. Quests already give out a ludicrous amount of sP that people don't spend, they hoard. Increasing how much sP the games give out will do the opposite of what people want.
I spent 500M yesterday and I swear that you could get a lot more with 500M than you can now.
INFLATION.
(granted, I spent 90M of that 500M on a single minion. but hey, it's the best minion and i guess i could eventually get it from the achievement system someday)
