Well with the CW pawn shop being dead next month, that's one less CSC sink on site, weirdly.
That was such a strange decision for staff to make, since I know a fair chunk of users who got CSC only to get less expensive wearables from the pawn shop. OH WELL, GUESS YOU DON'T LIKE MONEY THAT MUCH, SUBETA
Tbh when I play the games I play them because I enjoy them, not because I need the sp. The payouts are a lot lower than quests, vending or restocking but they're a nice bonus.
I'm against adding yet another shop. We have a lot of "special/event" shops around the site -- just look at the currencies page! That's on top of all the other NPC shops. It's just not necessary to add another special/event one specifically for games.
I also agree with everyone who's saying we don't need higher sp payouts on games because there's a lot of sp in circulation. I'm happy with how games are now.
People spend sP when there's something they want to buy. If they don't spend sP it's because there isn't anything they want to buy at the moment or they are saving up for something expensive.
Oh! I like the idea of a quest that sends you to play games for quest points. It's like what I suggested, but without the addition of a new currency, or a new special shop. :D
I actually really like this idea. yells at me every time I want to add a new currency, but we have a lot of awesome games on the site and I think finding a way to get people to want to play them without wildly increasing the amount of sP that comes from them could be really key to making that happen.

I think giving games a games room currency with their own items instead of sP is a great idea in theory, especially since even if someone is only good at one game they'd still earn points. However, I think it'd be a bit much to expect new item content in the shop with any sort of regularity, when there's already SOOO many areas of the site that need a lot of continuous item content. We don't need another carnival shop or blue building shop. Depending on what the stats are currently for games played and how much of a factor playing rewarding games would be for new and existing users, it could be worth it though. It's not a bad idea.
Hoarding has been encouraged from the get go. It's not about people not wanting to buy things, it's that they were rewarded for hoarding in the first place. When the vaults still had interest, the more sP you had in your vault, the more interest you earned every day. Shop till achievements reward hoarding too.
Yeah I don't know about this one. I play games on here when I'm bored and want something to do, or because I enjoy the game. But I don't really want to feel obligated to play the games as just one more thing to have to do to be able to get certain items on here. And I really don't think we need another currency.
sP payouts are already higher here in comparison to some sites, so I think that should be incentive enough. Or just play them because you like the game.
Seems like adding a new currency isn't something that's very popular with a lot of users. ^^;
Hopefully some good ideas are getting tossed around in here though! I think has the right idea about using an existing currency. And makes a good point about a new shop getting new content on a regular basis. Utilising an existing currency and special shop could be the way to go.
Tbh, I play games because I like them, with Caliph's Tomb being one I play all the time, and now with 2048 that one too. There are some games that I just suck at but I'm okay with that.
I'm still waiting for Gravedigger to come back; and if we could come up with a game like Neo's Web of Vernax I would be a very happy camper. :)
RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.
Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube... they do good work! https://www.ocnamibia.org
I feel like another shop would be interesting for all of two weeks when everybody gets what they want from it. I feel like there's too many special shops and currencies already and I don't think all of those get the attention that they need to be interesting. If you don't have continuous releases, then you could increase usage for a time.
And I also don't want yet another currency.
I'm all in favor of more game and gamer themed items, but I'm not sure adding another shop with those specific items would be enough incentive to get me to play games regularly, at least not for very long. As other users have pointed out, once you can buy all the items you want, that's kinda it until new items are added.
I like variety in my entertainment and there are very few things I want to I do every single day. On here, my primary motivation is training my battle babies and working on TCs though I'm mostly just looking for potential TC items rather than actually buying them at this point. So... I've been doing Shinwa's Quest (because there is a chance at a booster), Quentin's Quests (because there is a chance to get mage amulets which have a chance to turn into boosters), and occasionally Wizard's Quests (because I want them for zapping my babiest battler for the occasional stat increase). I've also started playing Spindles again because that babiest battler can benefit from the purchasable intel, though once he starts reading books Spindles will no longer be worth it.
For me, I'd be *more motivated to play games if in addition to sP, they gave out the occasional stat point especially if it's intel. (*It wouldn't motivate me all the time but it would motivate me more often.)
I think you might be able to pique interest for a while and maybe even keep the interest of a few new people with an incentive like stat points, but it's not going to make games a primary focus on here. Having a variety of things to do keeps people coming back to the site, but it also means that no one aspect is going to hold everyone's attention.
Off-topic game suggestion
I'd also like to suggest that crossword and/or word find type games be added. Out of the games I play semi-regularly off-site, those are the only two that are not represented and might be compatible with Subeta's gaming format. I don't know how many other people like them, but they are among my favorite game types - along with Sudoku and 3(or more)-in-a-row type games - because I find them relaxing.
Doesn't matlal's jewels give out items occasionally? Why don't we just add more items that are pretty rare that way to games.
I wouldn't mind a gamesroom currency, it would make more sense than some of the other currencies, tbh. (editted)
There are some games that are achievement related that are annoying or time wasting AND have little sP compensation. Then there are games I just like to play, that also have little sP gain at the end. I would like to see subeta tiles and Caliph's Tomb and Subeku have more sP reward. On the other hand, Mystic Spindles gives specialty points (as you suggested in your first post) just for playing the game, and if the store-points gain were higher, I would play it more.
I agree that the shop till achievement encourages hoarding but everyone has two shops even if they don't always have a GA. I'm guessing that many people keep one shop for the achievement and use the other shop for earning sP they can spend. I have no idea how many people are seriously going for the richest user achievement.
Why does it matter that some people go for the shop till achievement? Some people spend most of their sP battle training more than one pet. Others might want to spend their sP on zombie related stuff so are saving up for new items in Skitter's shop when they're released for this year's Survival.
Anyway, back to a possible games currency. The Bathhouse gives out Carnival Tickets which are very easy to get hold of by playing Mallarchy Pond. These could be replaced by Game Points so everyone gets some even if they don't want to spend a lot of time playing games.
I thought you were complaining about people hoarding their sP instead of spending it. Sorry if I misunderstood. So, what point were you making?
I wasn't complaining about hoarding. I hoard my sP. My point was that it's not about people not having things they want to buy with the sP, it's that subeta rewarded the hoard. So the absolute last thing we need is the games putting out more sP in to an oversaturated market, because all that's going to do is drive prices even further up. Basic economics.
