So, I know this seems like it goes against the spirit of the season (and y'all who are big on the gifting, please don't take offense to this!), but frankly, some people just don't like getting gifts for whatever reason. Even if you love gifting people gifts, it can be really uncomfortable for your giftee, and I really think that should be respected :c there's a few ways to gift people on this site that there's no way to block.

You can block being given items from non-friends, but you cannot block:

• People gifting you from the Gift Center sP option (and this is a huge issue, as you can spam the button and flood people's inventories - even if it's done with good intentions, this can be really annoying)
• People gifting your tree.

Could we get a way to more completely disable gift-receiving, at least partially? Blocking all gifts from non-friends would be a great start, because even mentioning that you don't like to receive gifts can bring people flooding down on you trying to be 'nice' without realizing that forcing gifts on people who don't want them is super freaking rude, and I know a few people who hate this time of year because of this.

Users should have full control over who they receive gifts from, whichever gifting method is used. Support.

I think the tree thing was shut down more than once. As always, I'll never be against such thing. In fact, I'd probably use it someday if I feel like it.

I like that we can block gifts from non-friends for the most part. I wish we could block gifts entirely, though, friend or not. I have too much on this site already and I typically feel uncomfortable receiving gifts. So, support.

As one who can't gift and it seems to be "GIVE OR YOU'RE A BLANKING BLANK" on here, I support this. I'm not in the best financial situation offline.

This seems fair. It's a little odd that gift blocking is available in one area, but not applied to others. The last thing I want when gifting is to end up overstepping boundaries that aren't apparent.

I'm 100% behind implementing a more useful - for lack of a better word - gift block feature. Support.

If you want to gift it doesn't have to cost you actual real money. It is quite easy to make sP here and your gifts don't have to be extravagant. :)

I've seen profiles where no tree is pictured. Specifically, the Options widget is removed. So it seems some people have managed to avoid it by doing that.

It's possible to gift people by navigating to the url, even if the widget is removed, so that doesn't really solve the problem :c

Not everyone knows how to do it, though. I always mess that up, so don't even try anymore.

But that said, if someone says they don't want a gift, I am one of those who respects their wishes.

The point stands, though - it's not a way to block gifting.

I still remember about 11-12 years ago when I gave someone gifts on this site. Wasn't for Luminaire. I just wanted to help them towards their goals. The items weren't worth very much. They yelled at me for making them feel like a "useless fat cow." Almost a word for word quote. I wouldn't have sent anything if I'd known it would offend them. Felt really bad. Still feel bad. Still petrified to ever speak to that person again (if they're even still around). Still very sorry.

In short, I support this wholeheartedly. I never want to go through a mess like that again (neither the making them feel bad, nor welp. being yelled at).

Just wondering, because I don't really know. I'm assuming that if you never get a Luminaire tree then people can't put anything under it even if you don't have the widget on your profile. No tree = no gift, yes? If that is the case, then there's at least that option for people who don't want others putting gifts under their tree. As far as random gifting though, as much as I like randomly and anonymously gifting people...and receiving gifts myself, I do support others' option to not be gifted.

Fully support. If people don't want gifts, I don't want to push gifts on them.

afraid not, even if you don't make a tree people can still gift you. I remember in previous years not getting around to making a tree right away and having gifts show up at the bottom of the blank options box. And, as previously mentioned, even if you don't have an options box, people can get around that.
