So I already own an Xbox One. This is the console all my friends own and we play multiplayer games on it. However, I've never owned a PlayStation before and part of me has always wanted one. I've only played the PS2 at my friend's house back in elementary school lol. Through my fiance's new job, he can sometimes get good deals on products and is able to get a PS4 500gb with Uncharted 4 and GTAV. (The storage doesn't bother me because he can get really good deals on external hard drives as well). He also has games he'd like to play on the PS4 and offered to split the price 50/50 if I wanted. And shoot, that's only $150 that I have to pay which is a good deal so we just kind of made an impulse purchase bahaha. He's over at my house practically everyday and it'll eventually be both of ours anyway once we get married and move out.

Now my question to you: what games do you recommend?? I don't imagine I'll be rebuying multiplayer games that I already own on the One, such as Overwatch. Maybe if they have sales and whatnot. We definitely want The Last of Us Remastered. I'd like The Last Guardian and Horizon: Zero Dawn when they release. (Maybe if there's any nostalgic games...that would be awesome if there's going to be some kind of remastered/return of Crash or something but idk!)

Feel free to suggest games that have already been released or will be released later on. I'll probably preorder some games that look interesting. I enjoy a variety of genres. You can tell me a little bit about the game if you want, otherwise I'll probably just look at some trailers/gameplays/etc. on YouTube. Thanks!

Someone say PS4?

slides up

The Witcher 3 is an excellent RPG game with an extraordinary world and an immense, immersive storyline. The characters are well written and the fight mechanics are easily learned and mastered. The downsides are that the language is crude in places (plus two characters give you the finger), there are detailed sex scenes and there's an immense amount of gore. It's worth the M rating but if you don't mind that, it's well worth the investment. (Plus, the books are wonderful.)

The Ezio Collection. Need I say anything on this? XD AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations remastered for the next gen. I'm a huge fan of the series so naturally, that has to be in my list of recommendations.

Uh, I know Andromeda's coming out but I'm not a fan of Mass Effect but what I've seen looks amazing.

Destiny is worth the investment too but it's purely online because of the immense social aspect. The story's massive, the lore is wonderful and there's almost always new content. Plus Rise of Iron just came out so there's new stuff there.

Dishonored 2. The first Dishonored game was fun, the second promises refined mechanics and storytelling, plus Emily Kaldwin is the main protag with her father being the secondary. You switch between the two and get unique abilities for both. (As one who played the original Dishonored, I'm still having moments of "Omg, Corvo sounds so hot." Because he doesn't really talk in the first game.)

Hmm, Assassin's Creed Black Flag is awesome on the PS4. There's details on details. Plus pirates.

That's all I can come up with right now. XD Hope it helps!

Gonna stalk this thread if you don't mind, I was actually just about to make a similar one because I need new things to play x)

I think they mentioned in the last E3 that there will indeed be a new Crash remake or remaster kinda deal coming up in the future, which I am thrilled about, those games were such a huge part of my childhood as well. Dunno about any dates yet though. I think I saw something about a Rayman remake (?) on PSN store but I've never played those games myself, so I skipped it without any further thought, but I think that's indeed a thing. I'd kill to get a good Spyro remake, I think there's one in the making ??

Insomniac released a complete remake of the first Ratchet and Clank game for PS4, which I can heartily recommend if you're in need for nostalgia! The original games had some fatphobic / transphobic / generic toilet humour in them that they have removed from the remake, which is also v nice.

You can get Giant Squid's Abzû for rather cheap on the PSN store, as well as Thatgamecompany's Journey if you haven't played that one already. Firewatch is another indie game I'd like to add to these pretty, calming kinda games.
Submerged is v nice.

Idk if you're into Bioshock, but the entire collection is available for PS4 I think, those games are neat. Also gonna second the Dishonored sequel, I am so ready to play that game. (and Horizon zero dawn and the last guardian, but you already mentioned those yourself x) )

DA:Inquisition was pretty much the reason why I updated from PS3 to PS4, the game is astounding on the newgen console.

Yea the problem with already owning an Xbox One is that I already have some of the games that are on both consoles lol. My fiance and I game-share on the Xbox and he was really hyped about some games and bought them, so I have them too, including Witcher 3.

Ahaha we were totally considering Destiny even though we've spent hundreds of hours into Destiny on Xbox. But there's always that possibility that I'll get it anyways. It would be fun to start completely brand new like when the game first came out. Plus PS has all the exclusive content that Xbox players don't get lol. Don't you need...uhh I forget what it's called on the PS4, whatever the equivalent is for Xbox Live in order to play multiplayer games online? I've heard mixed things about that.

I'm 100% getting Andromeda when it releases, just not sure what console yet xD And I KNOW, I still need to give the AC games a shot lol. Thanks for the suggestions!

Feel free to lurk!

Ohhh yes I'd love remakes of those games! Idk if I can truly say it would be nostalgic for me because this will be my first ever PS console BUT from how little I played those games as a kid at my friend's house, I enjoyed them! I'd love to have a Spryo remake as well. It's fun to go back to when games had simpler graphics and whatnot.

Ohh Ratchet and Clank! I didn't know about that. I'll definitely look into that one. I'll also check out the other suggestions you made. RIP bank account, again.

My fiance bought the Bioshock Remastered on Xbox One, and since we system share, I got it as well. I've never played the games before so I'll have to give them a shot. I just put my preorders in for The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn yesterday and I'm so stoked for those! Thanks for all the suggestions :)

I knew you would where Andromeda was concerned. XD The AC games get progressively better so if you get a chance to try them out, worth a shot. Good luck finding more!

SO. Disclaimer. I have not played all of these games. I have played some fully through. I've fiddled with others. And a few of them just look awesome.

Now that I got that out of the way...

Dishonored - is amazing Dishonored 2 - is coming out, and since I love the first one I would recommend looking at it. I will say, the trailer is tacky, but the first game is a blast. Bioshock Collection - my favorite series in the world Mass Effect (Andromeda is coming out)- Great series, worth looking into the newest one. Journey - beautiful story, unique. Everyone's Gone to the Rapture - SO INTERESTING. I'm playing it now with my boyfriend and we can't put the story down. Definitely ONLY story driven though. You literally just walk around listening to the lives of people and trying to piece it all together. Destiny - such a fun shooter if you have friends. Massive lore and universe. Constantly puts out new stuff. We Happy Few - intriguing. Looks interesting and reminds me of Bioshock Fallout 4 - fun open world game (sci-fi) Skyrim - UHM AMAZING. Fantasy open world ......Yeah that's all I have off the top of my head.

I'm currently playing Persona 5. If you haven't played any Persona games before it is a little daunting but MAN I am loving the crap out of this game. I recommend everyone look into the Persona series, they are great!

Other games I'd suggest are Journey (sups cheap usually and pretty shore, only takes like 2 hours.) Can't forget all the great remakes either, I haven't gotten it yet because I've been busy with P5 but the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 combo just came out last month!

Oooh, I just recently got a PS4. My last console was the PS2 haha. I've got Final Fantasy XV, Dishonored 1 + 2, and The Last Guardian right now.

I really loved both Dishonored games. For the first one, I'd get the definitive edition since it has some side-game episodes. I loved D2 more than the first, I will admit. I played it thrice in a row as both Emily and Corvo on low and high chaos. A completely different experience each run. The body count/assassinations you commit contribute towards the outcome in the ending (good or bad) and some noticeable differences during the game; low chaos being a more peaceful/good ending and high chaos being more dark. Low and high chaos aren't really separate difficulties; but high chaos has more Bloodflies (stinging/attacking insects that can drain your health). You don't choose at the beginning high or low, the game determines it as you continue on based on your body count and stealth and whether or not you neutralize key targets. Both games also feature supernatural powers your character can use to aid them in the game. In Dishonored 2, Emily and Corvo have slightly different supernatural skills, but you can choose who to play as. In my opinion, Corvo is easier to play as (based on powers) but Emily has some more strategic powers if you're going down the high chaos route. After your first playthrough, though, when you choose New Game+ both characters have every skill available to upgrade. You can also choose not to play with supernatural powers in Dishonored 2, though it makes the game a lot more difficult. Forgot to mention that D1 also has the high/low chaos feature with the same purpose. In both games, it also affects your allies.

FFXV. Amazing. There's SO MUCH to do in the game. It's an open world 1-player, you can go at your own pace doing side quests or the main story. It's a bit different than previous Final Fantasy games, but I loved it nevertheless. It's supposedly in the same universe as FFXIII. They're currently releasing, over time, character episodes for three of the party members in the game where you can play as them in their own special episode. Though, in the main game, Noctis is the only playable character.

The Last Guardian has become my all-time favorite game after so many years of worshiping Okami for PS2. TLG is a PS4-exclusive game. If you've played Ico and Shadow of the Colossus for PS2, the game is made by the same team and features several similarities to both games. It's a slow-paced game based on puzzle-solving and really gets your mind working. Don't let the word "puzzle" discourage you, the game is absolutely breathtaking with scenery and has an adorable growing bond between boy and beast. You can play the game at your own pace with no time repercussions and it's semi-open world. I believe this game is the only game I've ever played that has had me smiling, laughing, crying, or awe-ing at almost every moment. Despite being puzzle/labyrinth-oriented, it gets your emotions kicking. TLG is more closely similar to Ico in terms of the puzzle solving and game layout. All three games are essentially about puzzle-solving and thinking, but their stories and scenery, surroundings keep it almost hidden.

NieR: Automata is a game that came out recently that I really want to get but I don't know entirely too much about it.

There's also a game to be released sometime this year I think, by Hideo Kojima who worked on Silent Hills before it was cancelled. It's called "Death Stranding". The two trailers out are pretty much teasing us because no one has any idea what the game is about or what the story is supposed to be. There's no info on it other than the title and some of the actors used as models in the game (Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Guillermo del Toro). But, both trailers can give us some sort of hints as to what's to be expected. And it looks totally kick-ass.
