What's your opinion on them? How do you interpret them, or the intentions of the user responsible for them? Do you ever make them yourself, and why?
To be clear I'm talking about outfits like mine that might not fly if they weren't on a cute little PG-13 cartoon character.
Personally I'm glad for that restriction though. The fact that avatars are drawn the way they are is the only reason I tend toward these sorts of outfits myself. Because it sort of automatically takes anything sexual away from it. So I'm free to make fashion statements that involve a lot of bare body but they can just be that: fashion statements. Where if you were to dress that way in real life, people would automatically add heavy sexual connotations to it.
I personally live for Risque Avatars or nude-ish avatars. Some of my favorite HAs I have created in the past have been topless or more so (Hey monsters don't need restrictions such as clothing)
As for real life, I layer on clothing because I personally do not feel comfortable in my own skin. Which is probably why I go out of my way to make cutie patootie HAs any way I please.
Bodysuits, underwear (high waisted where available) as pants/shorts with socks/thigh highs as a balance, tights as pants. Some of it is high fashion; it's haute couture. Its what I crave, because when done well, it looks wonderful and I can't get cool stuff like this offline (like ombré tights with an overlayed fishnet design!). That, and as much as I want one of those nifty sheer maxi skirts with built in high waisted short-thingies, I can't have one. I also will put a pin-up spin to the lingerie boxes we have on site, because I favor 40s-50s pin-ups.
Well, they look adorable on girls, guys not so much : P clicks your little heart thing : )
I have to disagree with you there, but it's all subjective so it's all good. And I do see a lot less of it on guys around Subeta. Even when I have seen it half the time it's been using "feminine" clothes, which I think is cute but it does make me think.
Is it really just because it's not traditionally "masculine" to present oneself this way aesthetically? Is that why people who want to do it tend to go for female-presenting avatars?
Is it possibly why you don't find them very appealing when they're not?
I don't think about it so deeply...I just know that it doesn't appeal to me : / but than again,I am a man,you are a woman.. : /
What's that got to do with it? 🌈
I dunno : P I am over my head here : / I just know what I like and don't like :D
And hey you're entitled to that! Overthinking everything is my whole deal though.
honestly, i love making avatars that show off a lot of skin and have my HA's belly showing because in real life theres no way i could wear an off the shoulder pair of overalls with my whole tummy showing and booty shorts because people would be homophobic (in a perfect world i would ALWAYS wear booty shorts)
risque HAs are coolio. in 2010 when my friend and i were lil middle school youngins we would always make SEXAYY XD avatars with and
I love love love risque avatars! I'm constantly making female HAs with no top on; I just got
and I cannot bear to put anything on top or under it. A lot of my HAs are fantasy themed, though, and I can't imagine fantasy creatures having the same standards of nudity that humans do.
I also just don't see breasts (or any body part tbh) as necessarily sexual? Even IRL, I probably wouldn't do so myself but if I saw someone with breasts walking around topless I probably wouldn't look twice. all the way c:
Also holy shit can I marry ur HA please
Yeah! I'm not saying nudity can't be sexy (when that's how the wearer is choosing to present it), but it's nice to see that interpretation not be... compulsory.
...The examples are a lot less apt now that Euclid's turning everyone into monsters but if anything it just reinforces the other point made.
I agree with Kraken, in Rl I'm not able to dress like this, but I find it very liberating to be allowed some freedom on the 'net. I think it fills a need in me to be a teeny tiny exhibitionist 😊
Agreed wholeheartedly! And I don't think we'd be doing it if we weren't.
At least a little bit.
Just a scootch.
I would love to know what a teeny tiny exhibitionist is :D
..Hi : )
I'm the weird guy who likes shoving my gorey zombie HA into cutesy outfits like the bubble sweater and hats with cute animal ears and nothing else since the sweater looks like its half way covering shorts asdfg personally i like having my avatar in more "girly" outfits because i think he looks cute in them.
A gay boy living in his gay world. Pronouns: He/him
You are correct- he looks adorable.
I love risque avatars, too! I never think about the intentions of the creator, just that they thought it looked good. Contrary to a lot of posts in the thread, I dress incredibly risque irl as well. I love wearing bustiers and bras as shirts, deep v tops that go to my bellybutton, I have a lot of lingerie, and I only wear miniskirts p much. I grew up on a tropical island and showing my skin makes me feel comfortable and chic. I'm v into high-fashion (though I can't afford it) and dressing like a lil thottie is how I make do. ;P
I think risque avatars are much less common then they used to be? When I joined (back in 2009!) it seemed like the was the single most common avatar item to see around the forums. Then again, I myself make avatars that my mother would not approve of from time to time. For me it's more aesthetic than sexual though; I figure other people probably see it the same way, so I don't worry about it like I would have to in real life.
