I've been training my uber pet for years for achievements. Mostly the stat based ones (hence her all-rounded-ness) and the occasional holiday/event opponent that pops up. I'd like to keep her all-rounded-ness just because of achievements, even though I know min/maxing is probably the best to win with.

She's now a tier 9, and I have a feeling she should be much more effective than she is. Based on how strong opponents are, I can't imagine users wait until they're equal to take them down. Or maybe it's my imagination, but I keep on thinking pets ought to be able to take down opponents (somewhat) stronger than themselves. Right?

The lowdown: Level: 603 Strength: 1,536 Defense: 1,507 Speed: 1,495 Health: 1,494 HP: 1,487 Intelligence: 1,046

Her weapons are: , , , , , , , and . (Most of these I got just by participating in events). Her scrolls, which I know suck and I need a lot of advice with, are: , , .

I don't mind having long-term goals in the way of weapons, stats, or scrolls. I also barely understand the battle system--which I why I usually only fight opponents in the same stat bracket as my pet. The extent of my knowledge is that high stats are good and lots of icons are good. I really don't even get how to effectively use battle turns. I know it's good to freeze an opponent, and it's bad to be frozen. I know the Recycle Blaster is recommended on a lot of battle sets, but I don't really know how to use it to its potential--use it right away at the start of the battle? Use it in conjunction with an attacking weapon? With a defensive weapon? Advice on the combination of attacking, defending, healing, freezing, and stealing as well as the timing of it all would be AWESOME! (Thanks in advance!)

I also have very, very little knowledge of weapon modification and all those crystals and baguettes we can get from the battle shop. I have a pretty decent supply of battle tokens stocked. So again, what's the best way to go about modifying? Increase the existing icons (such as adding fire baguettes to Eternal)? Make weapons more healing-oriented? Freezing? Stealing? Increase the strengths of a weapon? Make up for its weakness? Give it an unexpected quirk? Modify one weapon to be more healing, one to be more freezing, one to be more attacking? Which one? I also know I may be a bit heavy handed with Malice, Aemis, Eternal, and Massaquerade--should I replace anything? With what?

I also know a lot of things depend on the opponent and what element it blocks. But any general advice on how to maximize battle techniques would be really, really appreciated.

(It's okay to ping me to this thread.)

there's a load of battle information here on MrCool's fabulous blog c:

your battle set + strategy + weapon mods depend on your opponent but this is my go-to strategy in general:

weapon mods - singed baguette crystals because I like extra icons of damage when attacking

as far as your set goes, get rid of everything besides the recycle blaster and reviver of the lion get -

it is like the reviver of the lion but heals 100% instead of 90% and doesn't defend any icons AND YOU CAN HAVE BOTH THE REVIVER AND IT EQUIPPED ❤️ dreams really do come true haha

acts like recycle blaster but also gives you a random mix of blessings/curses

or blocks your opponent's attack, the vortex gives you added freeze potential, otherwise no different than the shard

if you're counting that's already 5 out 8 for your battle set

now you need a freezer, I use because I was able to get them cheap but there are other freezers out there

the other 2 slots are for your attacking weapons which depend on your opponent but in general you want to use something that heals too like or or the plus they scale so that's a plus but there are many weapons out there and for my t9 pet I've been using because totally affordable (at the time idk what it is now) plus good icon damage that isn't usually blocked (ice) and small freezing chance

check out MrCool's blog for more weapon info

my general battle strategy for opponents that are freezable is freeze first if you're worried about being knocked out first round, it's important to be defensive and pair a freezer up with something like the temple shard or vortex but in general my other weapon is an attacker or soma tablets (it's good to set up the blessings and zap an attack at the beginning rather than later) and I use my scrolls for defense like is nice because it blocks a nice range of icons (though NOT wind or light or probs something else but it IS likely to block SOMETHING the opponent is dishing out and especially if you don't know or haven't found that info on the battle forum yet it's good to be prepared and block)

then once frozen you attack with your 2 weapons

next round is recycle blaster plus offense or defense depending on hp left, it's really variable and this is why you just need to practice (like doing battle quests!) to get a feel for it

making sure you have varied scrolls is important because it enables you to diversify what you do with your weapons

is a handy bomb like weapon - 40 icons of light + heals 300 hp does a decent amount of damage, blocks a few of some icons, and small chance to freeze

I basically make sure my scroll set includes a couple of cobalt eternals for pure defense, a morosbane and a gelaspell for attacking

there are plenty more scrolls out there but the ones mentioned are affordable so it's easy to get them and create a first-timer's strategy :3

good luck!

Depending on your set, you should definitely be able to take on opponents like wymgear and recycle beast at tier 9.

Ok let's start with weapons: The malice and reviver of the lion will both be useful. The malice is overpriced in the antique shop for what it does imo, but since you already have it, it is a nice weapon to use for a dark block and it was really useful for me against saggi when I was T9-T10. The one ring is coming towards the end of its usefulness now that your pet is past 1k health. I would suggest picking up the phoenix quill. As for the recycle blaster, that depends on your battling style. The blaster will turn one of your opponents weapons to a useless wad. Some people prefer stealing over blasting, but most impossible challengers have stealing disabled or most people find that blasting a weapon is more useful now that your opponent has the chance to use an infinite use weapon that does only 1 damage. I like to use the blaster and soma tablets because no enemy has blasting disabled and stealing can be useless when an enemy has like 3-4 copies of the same weapon.

What is your budget? As you go up in tiers, you're going to want to start diversifying your set to have weapons that block a lot of one icon that you can switch between, depending on who you are battling. I would definitely make in the battle shop once you have enough extremely hard tokens. has also helped me out in a pinch but is expensive. is a nice magma blocker you can also pick up in the battle shop. is a nice earth blocker until you can use the ornate hook swords, but it may be overpriced right now. An alternative would be to pick up malerias short sword from the battle shop as well, but this has no healing on it. Some other nice weapons you can think about buying are

Let's talk strategy: Strategy depends on numerous factors; it depends on your weapon set, your pet's build, your battling style, the opponent you are facing, and timing are some of the big ones. For these reasons it's hard to give generic advice. Strategy really comes with experience and what works best for your pet. Ideally, a basic set should include two attackers with defense and a small % heal, and at least one healing item. On top of that, I would suggest a 100% freezing item if an enemy can be frozen since freezing gives you one free turn. The reviver of the lion and phoenix quill can both be brought into battle together to give you two healing items if you find you need more health so now you're left with three spots to fill. You could fill one spot with a full blocker like or blasters or bombs like . You may want to even bring more than two weapons into battle with some opponents that can steal your weapons. Weapons that boosts your pet's stats like strength and def for the battle can be nice, but I've found that it's better to just have weapons and infinite use scrolls with a %heal to help you last longer.

On to weapon mods: The most useful weapon mods I have found are the blessed armor tear, parched baguettes and singed baguettes. All of these have a 10% chance of activating. The singed baguettes have a chance at cursing your enemy with a small amount of unblockable icons. I like parched and blessed armor the best because they will prevent opponents from freezing you. Blessed armor also prevents stealing and adds +2 def of every icon whereas parched adds extra water and fire damage and lasts one turn longer. Weapon mods also depend on who you are facing. In the past I have found with some opponents it's better to just equip weapons with def baguettes to get that extra block since they don't freeze your pet.

Scrolls - you'll definitely want to work on your scroll set. I would get an infinite use scroll like that will remain a staple in your set. and are also very good but are OPB so you will need to equip multiple. and are nice freezers but expensive. also have a chance to freeze, cost less AP, are cheaper and can be made at the shrine. and are nice cheap healing scrolls. is a nice cheap OPB attacking scroll that is good to pick up for fire protection as well.

-- Thanks for your replies. I am So Sorry at taking so long to reply.

I don't mind having a long term goal with weapons, so my budget would be pretty high. It doesn't have to be immediate. (I've had my eye on the Phoenix Quill for a while for that very reason.)

Thanks for the tip about blasting versus stealing. I had no idea about some opponents blocking one but not the other.

Okay, so what I am gleaning is...it's wise to include healing with defending. It's wise to freeze ASAP and repeatedly if possible. If the opponent is doing a lot of damage, pair a freezer with a defender and then attack, attack, attack while it is frozen. Good attacking weapons modifications are those that do continuing damage for several turns or those that increase damage icons (except for some opponents that are specialized in which certain elemental defense would be better).

I can't believe I was so newbie at scrolls...I didn't know you could equip more than one of the same. Thanks! I think I will eye up that Perilous Whirlpool One--I have had my eye on it. Are there any other good infinite use battle scrolls besides Aftershocks Scroll?

Again, thanks so much for your detailed and well thought out responses!

The nice thing about weapon mods that do damage from curses is that damage from a curse is unblockable. Even if your opponent blocks say, all fire for instance, and your curse does 5 fire icons then he will still take the 5 fire icons of damage. Weapon mods are really dependent on your battling style and opponent. I have been fighting opponents that have weapons with a good chance to freeze so I prefer to mod everything with a couple of parched baguettes and then use either blessed armor and singed in any remaining mod slots. I would rather go overkill on freeze protection because if that blessing drops and I get chain frozen, I'm done for.

Aftershocks used to be the cheap affordable alternative to skelly and tasseled aegis. It still is cheaper than those two but the price is still inflated. I would pick up the ocean currents scroll. Still going to be around 90mil, but that's actually cheaper than what it usually goes for. It heals, defends against water and does a lot of water damage, which is really useful against some opponents.

Thanks to everyone's advice, I am working on modifying my set. I am currently running Malice, Aemis (with two freezing baguettes), Eternal, Massquerade, Reviver of the Lion, Phoenix Quill, Forj Tempered Shield, and Recycle Blaster. However, now I have clear plans, and my target battle set is: , , , , , , , and *.

I starred a couple of them as I might wind up swapping those out for Shinwas Short Short or a weapon relevant for attacking and/or defending against a specific opponent. I also see there's a lot more strong weapons for tier 10 and up, so I haven't eliminated them from consideration yet either.

I also put a lot of thought into my scroll set, and I am happy with the result. I currently have: for defense as well as and for attacking. I plan on getting for added defense and to complete the set (although the Psycho Smasher one looks nice too).

I'm still getting a feel for weapons modification. But thanks to everyone so far! If anyone wants to, feel free to comment with more advice. I am still open for suggestions and strategy.

Your set is looking good :D I think and gave you all of the advice you need.

You can earn more weapons/scrolls by defeating opponents, so keep trying as much as you can. Challenger Tier Guide~ is great for determining when you can beat certain opponents.

And remember to do your Battle Quests for free experience every day! You will train your pet so much faster that way.

I want to say thank you again to everyone! I just purchases Rapier of Errors, and I was able to beat Daghraan and Umbrus five times each! I couldn't do that before! (I had beatened Daghraan twice before getting stuck with my old set). Thank you, everyone!
