Well, with only really one month of summer left, I definitely haven't felt like I've accomplished or even done much. I'm hoping Saturday, when I go to my city's annual summer exhibition carnival on a date, it'll be my new highlight. However getting to go camping with all my friends earlier this month is a memory I'll never forget!
What about you guys, what memories stick out again this summer for you?
My summer wasn't very eventful either. Mostly worked full time and went to a couple of art shows. I did show my work in a group show though, and really enjoyed that.
I'm definitely thinking that despite barely doing anything, the quality of my life and thoughts this summer have been higher than they've ever been, maybe that's a sign of getting old!
Have fun at the carnival! :D
I went back to CA for summer break in June, but that's it really. I haven't done anything. I started a school internship in July and it ends on August 19th so mainly I've been doing that. I'm working in the university's archives.
my summer kind of felt like a let down to be honest. i feel like all these other college students i go to school with have the summer of their lives, and then there is just me, lol.
i mean i got a new job this summer that i absolutely love, so i guess that would be one highlight. and then next month is me and my boyfriend's 3 year; so there's another!
I got a job that I'm starting on August 1st. I've been temping at this law firm. Getting my son driving so he'll be taking his driving test soon. Celebrated my 26th wedding anniversary this month. So far so good. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

I find summer kind of loses its magic when you're no longer in school, and settled into a job and just general life. At least for me the magic died. My current thrill? Long weekend. I get to not wake up to an alarm 3 whole days in a row. jazz hands My boss fostered some kittens though that went back last Saturday. So for two weeks I had bebemews to snuggle. That was pretty great.
Camping/glamping with friends is so fun! I hope your date goes well : ) regardless, if you like photography, summer carnivals are great to practice getting good shots, especially as it gets dark.
soooo... Any pics of the kittens?
Congrats on the jobs everyone (I also got one this summer, what is it about that?!).
Hmm, I don't know about a sign of getting old but it sounds like a pretty awesome thing to feel that way. That is so cool about showing your work in a show! Art shows are really fun, I've only been to a few but there's so much talent! Hopefully you get the chance to show off more stuff soon!
That's still cool though, are you enjoying it so far? Is it related to what you want to be doing in your future, or just for general experience? I bet it's really hot in California though, the weather up here in Alberta, Canada has been terrible! It's been such a rainy gross summer.
Ahh, I feel the same even though I'm not in school! Everyone around me is going on these crazy adventures and I'm still here. Thats great that you got not only a summer job, but one that you actually love! I feel that's pretty rare now a days! Oh wow three years, congratulations!
Happy Anniversary! You've been married longer than I've been born ;P And congratulations on your job, and best of luck to your son for driving. I need to get out there and start learning how to drive myself actually...
Oh I can relate, I'm out of school and have a full time job so my summer is pretty monotonous! But I'm super happy about the long weekend too! Sleeping in, and a shorter work week next week, love it. Wow that sounds like one of the best job perks ever!
I hope so too! I'm a little nervous actually haha! Ooh you're definitely right, I don't think I'll bring my good camera just because I'll be on rides and it could get wrecked but I'll take some somewhat decent phone pictures!
Congratulations for your own job, I guess it's just a summer thing!
I've done nothing ha ha. All jokes aside, I've been in summer break since May 20th? College is kicking back soon in about ~ 3 weeks. But I've seriously done nothing of my whole summer except getting a dog and getting in shape (I love walking him). Been working out here and there but nothing fabulous. I'm going to a convention next week or so and it's very exciting. I wish I could have gone swimming but it's complicated where I live, which is a shame :c
It's related. I want to go into state/national archives mostly.
From what my parents say the weather in CA is in the 100s. I'm actually in NY( Buffalo) for grad school so I'm not in CA currently, but I'm originally from CA though.
The only two things that are good are I graduated from college back in May and I got a volunteer job at a local Natural History museum. I wish it was a paying job but I'm getting a lot of experience.
My summer has basically sucked because I've lost two of my dogs in a span of two months and I haven't been able to find a real paying job.
Sleeping in is my favourite thing. Even if my body is now conditioned to still wake up like just after six a.m., just knowing I don't HAVE to be up is awesome. Yeah the perks of having a pet loving boss is great. There is an office cat that sits snuggled up to me all day. I can't complain.
[edit] The kittens were semi-feral trapped so they spent the first 2-3 days in an extra large cage so they could calm down, and then they had free run of my boss' office. They were little terrors. They went back to the SPCA and as of Friday 2/5 were adopted. Fingers crossed. They were quite the muffins.
I have two weeks off from work. Best thing ever. I can finally relax, stay in bed until 9am and do senseless stuff. ;_;
Haven't really done much... the only really notable thing was going on a trip with my girlfriend and her brother to see their grandparents and spend time up at their house in the country. That was really nice. :) The rest of the time it's been work, work and more work. I'm glad to have the full time hours so I have money but at the same time I'm really tired lol
My summer has been very boring and not productive at all. Just been working and whatnot. The only highlight was going to the lake for a week back in June, right before my birthday! I went with my boyfriend and his parents. It was so nice at the lake and so beautiful. His parents rented a boat, so we did a lot of fishing and cooled off in the water. I definitely miss it!
I went to Build a Bear for the first time and dropped $73 on two teddy bears for myself as an early 30th birthday present. And I started a new job.
Definitely getting married!
Also getting over 2 weeks vacation and chopping almost 12 inches of my hair off.

I disappeared for a 2 week family vacation so sorry for the late replies, but here we go
hope your date/carnival visit went well : )
ah good to hear some have been adopted!! Office cat sounds amazing. I probably wouldn't be able to get much work done though tbh.
WOW congrats on the marriages!
Aaaaand now summer's ending :(
The highlight was definitely going on a road trip with three friends to Florida (from Michigan) to visit a good friend of ours who moved there last year. We went to Universal, went dolphin watching, went to the beach, went to the Tampa aquarium, and just had a really, really good time all being together again. It was really hard leaving her at the end of the week. Hopefully we'll make this an every-other-year thing, where we'll go down one year and she'll come up here the next and we'll switch like that.
