Hello!
As some of you might already know, some backend changes on Subeta caused some pet profiles to get a little messed up a while ago. If it affected just the profile text, the misplaced text and symbols were easy to see on pet profiles and fix, but if it's in the coding you may not have noticed it and it could cause further upset to your profiles if you try to edit them without this fix.
Here's what changed: The < bracket was changed to < The > bracket was changed to > The " symbol was changed to "
The quickest fix for this is to copy your pet profile coding to an external text editor, and do 'find/replace' on the problem coding in order to replace the messed up parts with what they should be.
We unfortunately cannot make these fixes ourselves, they must be done individually. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
So are we supposed to put "Quotation marks" on the profile itself or the symbol " ? Just wondering.

And if anyone cannot figure this out for any reason, please let me know by comment or sMail and I can try and help!
The thing that the <'s and "s were turning into are not working on her post...it is just turning into the correct code. She is working on getting images up to show examples. And this doesn't happen to new code so if you have newer profiles, you probably aren't affected.

Thank you for the info! Most of my profiles are not affected thankfully. Though I would really appreciate it if the staff can be more considerate about changing anything related to pet profiles in the future. As users have been allowed to have more and more pets, it will take a lot of time for some to fix 40+, 50+, or 60+ pet profiles.

- I've just updated the first post, is that more clear?
I want to thank you again. I've managed to fix Sir Rodney's profile and get the missing credit added. <3
I also was able to change the background only because I realized that I didn't get it from where I thought. I think the site I got it from had stolen it and was passing if off as free to use. :x

Thanks for the acknowledgement/info! When did this happen? I feel like this happened last summer/early fall and also like a year before that? Do we know why so we can prevent it happening again? I keep backups of my coding now just in case, either way.
Sorry to bother you guys, but all I see is: The > bracket was changed to & lt What is & lt? And alike.
- hooray! That's awesome to hear. And his new background looks great - very fitting of such a magnificent and gorgeous beast of a kitty :) I'm glad we were able to sort this out, I have to go fix a bunch of my own pet profiles now.
- This was something that happened last year, it was something to do with how the markup was saved in the database, not my area of explaining expertise even though it spilled over onto a feature I'm involved in! So it shouldn't happen again because that change has now happened and doesn't need to happen again. It's always a good idea to keep backups of your coding, though!
It's those exact symbols!
So you take your external text editor, you do the 'find and replace' option. In the find box you put: < and in the replace box you put: <
This will help replace every instance of < with the <
Do it for all three of the coding changes in the initial post, and your coding should be fixed!
Please see Rah's post above this. I think she explains it better than I could.

:D Not possible ;) :P And thanks much both :)
...? Is one of those supposed to be the < ? Otherwise you're saying that one single carrot bracket can potentially be two different pieces of code.
- yes, thank you for pointing that out - I rewrote/re copied and pasted that initial post so many time trying to get it to not break that I totally missed that. Thank you! Fixed :)
- what in the...I just thought I fixed that! Check the first post again, it should be the two different brackets, not two of the same one! Hmm, I might have made the fix on a programmer's dev by accident. Let's hope it stays this time!
