Trying to get a better view on users' preferred method of pet acquisition. I have only created one of my pets as I check the adoption center every couple of days, and every now and again I find a pet that I fall in love with. So, what is your preferred method? Why or why not? And also welcome are reasons for adoption or creation of a pet!

Either is fine with me. I like adopting pets, especially if I find old pets, or really good names I didn't expect to find. But if I think of a name that I like and it's free I like knowing I came up with it. I guess whatever comes easiest!

I only care about the name when I get myself a new pet, whether I can create a good name or find it in the pound / adoption forum.

There are lots of people who're looking for older pets because they feel like it's more special. I personally don't care about a pets' age or ID at all.

Either, really. Though I do have a strong preference for creation because I have strong ideas of what names I want.

I love adopting mainly because names that I like or want are harder to get then on defunct accounts. if there is an awesome name that's free or been freed up, I will create. I tend to adopt before creating.

It doesn't matter too much to me because it's always the names that matter the most. ID comes in as a bonus which is the benefit of adoption (though on a few occasions I actually adopted pets for the IDs and later changed the names).

I used to prefer to find pets to adopt, but these days the types of names I want are so specific its much easier to just create pets myself.

I prefer create. I feel weird when I have adopted a pet that I didn't create myself so I always create another pet after it and switches names.

I used to never create but only to adopt and rename. Since the pound reset though it got even harder to find low ID pets so I gave up on that hobby for the most part.

I have a bit of both, but I tend to create more than adopt because names are my number one criteria for a pet.

When I first started playing, I picked up a few pets from the pound because of nice colours. I've long since adopted them out to other people, or changed their names. I mostly go with creation now, because I put names first. Adopting a pet when I have a name already in mind means paying CSC to change the name. It's rarely worth it for me to adopt a pet.

I did adopt a lot of pets a few weeks back. Not to keep though. I was searching for something specific, and decided I might as well use one of my free slots to adopt and zap pets to rehome while I waited for the right pet to turn up.

Placid is the last pet I adopted without renaming. I picked him up to zap and rehome, but in the end I kept him. Decided he'd be perfect for the Chibi .

M4-27 was my last adopted pet, and was renamed. Adoption was necessary as I was looking for a specific birth date for him. I've never really cared about something like that before, and I don't see me doing it again, but it's probably the only reason I would adopt a pet these days.

Then again, I'm sometimes curious about what's in the pound, and I might get tempted by an awesome name...? ^-^

In the same boat as - I adopt & rename ninety-nine percent of the time (except for me it isn't a small fortune..). Even if I feel the need to create a pet asap just to get/keep the name, it almost always gets wanded onto an older ID later (when I get the slot and/or the CSC to do so). It just takes a heck of a lot for me to get attached to young pets. The connection tends to feel too... shallow, somehow? And then it just doen't work. Maybe I'm the shallow one. Hmm...

I'm very much a creation person. I prefer creating a name for them so it suits them more rather than trying to build something out of them which can be quite difficult to do for a pet in mind.

Mind you, I'm thinking of adopting for a fanpet in future because of specific dates but that would probably be the only time.

Most of my pets are adoptees! Oshacloud, GleamSnowette, LumiDestiny, MelodyStarlight and Espeonshimmer21 are my created pets. I don't look for IDs or names (mostly), I tend to adopt a pet either because of how it currently looks or adopt with plans to change it to what I want later. I like to give pets new homes. :)

I tend to create pets. I have odd tastes for names so most of the time I have no problem getting the name I want. coughsHow many users would even know what fandom Malcolm Frink comes from without googling?coughs

Of all my pets I only have a few that I've adopted:

Meander- Adopted for name.

Heylel and Llyn: I originally adopted both for their names, however I can't remember what they were. I don't remember which was the one named after Lelouche from Code Geass.

Noel Fielding: Adopted for his name and he's most likely going to stay the same species and color.

Edit: Crap. I forgot I adopted Daniel Jackson. He was adopted for his name.

All of my pets are created, because I need specific names and don't care about lower IDs. Potioning the pet to what I want it to look like is most of the times cheaper than picking something nice from the pound and having to rename it.

I have created 3 of my pets. But I prefer to adopt. I visit the pound a lot and look for pets that I like. My pet Banshee, I adopted with a different name. Sometimes I search for a name that stands out in the pound and then change the pet and sometimes I get lucky and find a cool pet with an equally cool name.

I create my own pets; I only have one pet that I got from the adoption center and have not renamed him or changed his color or species, because I like him how he is. :) For now I'm more interested in creating my own pets as characters I already have, but I imagine that if I ever get all my main characters created that I want to, I could adopt and make new characters again. Nothing wrong with adopting, just my priorities lie elsewhere for now. I also contemplate making fan character/tribute pets from time to time but my urge to complete my own characters first prevents me.
