Servers / Avatars

Prior to this update, avatars and the website were running on different servers running different server systems. That meant that updating meant going through two different systems and upgrading them piece by piece.

Tonight I've pushed up changes merging those two, implementing a smart caching strategy so that when you save your avatar your changes immediately show up. This will also mean a lot less complexity in our server setup, and should result in a faster site with increased uptime.

Visual Changes

I'm sure you've noticed that some small things around the site, like breadcrumbs and buttons, have been changed over the past few days. We're slowly moving ourselves back to bootstrap to help prepare for a more mobile-friendly version of Subeta. Some things look out of place now, but hopefully we'll be moving more pieces over quickly. More on this soon :)

Filter Changes

I've updated the filter for the parts of the site that take HTML to be more intelligent. It was using a homemade library that was ten years old, but we've moved to using an industry standard for purifying HTML and keeping you safe, but offering more customization options around the site and could pave the way for WYSIWYG editors in places like the forums. More updates on this in the future as well!
