Okay so I was browsing the adoption center and suddenly a big massive blast of abandoned pets with names I am guessing are a result of their previous name being taken after their owners were inactive for too long, but what caused this sudden massive dump? I'm kinda confused since normally there's only like 20 pets in there and now there's 205. I'm guessing it's some kind of Subeta clearing system or something but sheesh. I'd just like to know for certain.
Also, if anyone were to adopt these, would they get a free rename on them since it seems they were generically renamed after their originals were taken? Cause if not, I can't imagine these clearing out of the shelter any time soon and is gonna cause a massive clog.
it looks like someone is making bad names and dumping them into the adoption center. they'll get cleared eventually
edit: some are nicely colored though.
checked one and it was made in 2012, so these are pretty old pets. interesting.
It does seem kind of weird that they were all dumped in the adoption center like this. I wonder what's up.
There was a Subeta cleanup involving pets, and that's why there's more pets in the adoption center.
I found one with a low ID (in the 100k range, a 2006 pet), and there's no free name change. My initial thought was inactive pets, though I don't think a few single users could do this. My guess was that subeta team was releasing some of the old banned pets (mostly were pets with vulgar and improper names) from the limbo, so users can take the IDs. They changed the bad names to the pet species + pet ID.
Though it's only my guess, and I could be completely wrong. still waits for official announcement for this
[edit] Oops, only saw Angelina's post after posting. So it's subeta's doing indeed.

Haha! I feel a little responsible because I filed a ticket a little while ago about a couple of bad names in the pound. Guess there was a lot more waiting to be cleaned up. xD
A lot of older dates in there though. Should be good for date and ID hunters? ^-^
I see. I figured it was something like that seeing how massive it was but it kinda took me by surprise. Since there's no free name change which I figured would be the case, I do feel like most of these won't get adopted unless people are really that obsessed with low ids and such. I for one don't care about that, nor do I find it worth it to pick up a generic pet in the pound and have to pay 500 CSc to change the name.
Kinda hoping they clear out soon, it's really crippling my ability to hunt for nice names in there. Any idea how long it'll be before they just auto delete or something if no one takes them? I'd love to go back to my normal routine again soon.
they may be adopted because of their dates, for some reason lower IDs are pretty valuable to some pet people, and these being pretty old, they will have lower IDs.
I've seen a few pets dating back as far as 2007. Ones like that will probably clear out pretty quick, as ID hunters find them.
Wasn't there a thing a while back where pounded pets were getting recoloured? Something that happened along with the MC pet slots release? Maybe we could use something like that again to help a few more find homes.
Well I'd hope so. I still don't know why low ids are really considered valueable. But to each their own I suppose? I don't even know how they will check the ids anyway before or after they are adopted as I certainly have never been able to figure out how to check ids but to me, it's just a number and I really feel like no one really is going to go look at my pet and check its ID number and be impressed with it or anything based on that. shrugs
I feel like it should be like cleared names - we should get a free rename to get them out of the way
Managed to get a November 2007 pet out of it, though, so I don't mind having to rename
a bunch of older pets are in the adoption center check them out!
Since staff renamed them, it seems like a free name change should come with the pets. Who wants and ID number as a name?
Ya I have a free space and had been searching for a new pet... I'd take one of these if I could rename them but the current (bad) names don't fit.
I do feel that besides people seeking a special creation date, most ID people don't value IDs larger than 1mil (Let's be honest, most are probably only interested in IDs less than 200k to 500k). I personally don't mind spending 500CSC to rename the pet I snagged. But, without any compensations, I don't know how most of these pets with 1mil+ and 3mil+ IDs will get rehomed. Their names are simply not usable in any ways.

you can find out the ID of a pet in the pound by hovering over the link to adopt them. if you have a status bar at the bottom of your browser, it will show you what URL the link leads to, and the number at the end of that URL is that pet's ID. you can also just click the link to see the URL, but then you would have to keep going back and doing that for every pet.
I see. Well thanks for the info. Good thing I don't really care about ids. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. XD
yeah i've never really cared about them, i guess i can understand the appeal of an interesting ID number but they're hardly visible in any capacity other than your pet's URL, and that's only if you use the link on your user profile - i always find it faster to just manually add /pets/PETNAME to the end of the URL.
but, i hope people find what they're looking for. i'd hate to see the pound just sit full of pets with unusable names for ages and ages - at least the last time the pound was this full, it was full of pets with actual names and different colors and stuff...
Yeah... I just adopted a Kumos that had something about smoking joints and its pet friend losing their virginity... X-x
Oh well, they'll become my 9th Keeto with a not rule breaking description. XD
