So I had this idea for a long time and I decided to share it and to see if people will like it (or not :P)

This is the concept:

  1. You first get the minion when the zapper zap your active pet's minion (random, zapper exclusive).
  2. From now on the minions starts with stage 1 (out of 5) and you need to feed it and play with it until it reach the next stage.
  3. At stage 3 the minion is big enough and EATS your pet (because experiment pets are kinda crazy)
  4. As a pet it moving forward to stage 4 and again you need to feed it and play with it until it reach it's final form - stage 5.
  5. if you don't feed it and play with it after a certain time before reaching stage 5, it can't live and will turn into a slime.

The design of the pet can be considered by all the suggestions of pets that we want..

So what do you think? :)

I can see some people complaining if there's no warning that the minion will change your pet, but then again, the Aeanoid Seed doesn't tell you much. Also not quite sure about points .4 and .7(?). I think once it reaches the pet it should stay the same, unless you want to colour it Chibi or Scribble I guess.

Initially seeing this thread's title, I was like, "Oh man, not another Neopets' situation with their Krawk petpet turns pet thing".

But reading your post proved me wrong and I am intrigued by this idea. Count my vote!

This is a pretty nifty idea ! I have a feeling some people would be upset that they couldn't keep the minion/various stages of said minion. I'd also prefer the pet stage be the final stage, instead of changing again.

This sounds super cool and awesome, something we never saw before. It has my vote! But I'm worried with the quantity of coding it will need, does't sounds like something simple. D:

I don't really like this idea all that much, but if it were implemented, I agree with the quoted.

This is an interesting idea, I do think there should be some kind of warning though before it just eats our pets lol

Perhaps when the zapper first turns it into one "Oh dear, it seems the Ultimate Pet Zapper has turned your minion into something that is looking at your pet with hunger in its eyes." and then the day before it will eat your pet "That minion sure is getting big, better make sure you truly want this to eat and take over your pet before you let it progress further!" and then a little WARNING: If you don't remove this minion before x amount of time(or something to that extent) it can and will eat your pet, the pet you had before will be gone and this will be in its place, are you sure you want this? Go here(with a link) to remove this minion or just let the events unfold!

[edit] Also agree that once it matures to a pet that it won't change further unless you use a potion on it for Chibi or Scribble.

i probably wouldnt personally use this, (i dont use the zapper beyond morostide skins. ) but I can see how this would be interesting.

how exactly would one go about feeding and playing with it in the stages it's a minion, would it run off of the pet it's attached to or would it be the minion-pet itself ?

also regarding the stages: I'd probably be pretty pissed if I thought it taking over my pet / becoming my pet was it's last stage and it turned into something I wasn't expecting/wanted simply because I thought it was done and moved on. I don't forsee a lot of users having elf vision hind-sight to continue going through it as if it wasn't done, unless it's their gourmand pet or something (Which, I don't see a lot of users doing. ) so maybe when it takes over your pet that's the last stage of that. :X

That seems like a complicated way to turn your pet into an experiment. And when you don't feed it after it already ate your pet you just lose a pet? That would be some 'pounding lutari' kind of bs.

I'm all for new ways of getting different pets, but that's just complicating the whole 'zap for experiments' thing for no good reason.

Omg! Yes! I've been wanting alternative ways to gets pets and colors (will my potion brewing ever become a reality? ;_;) and this sounds like a great idea! Although, what about minion battling? I'm not sure if this would be easy to code with the way minions work now and especially since you have the minion replacing the pet at stage 3 there would be a lot of issues if you turned a pet into slime? I'm kind of confused on how your method works.

I feel like it might be easier utilizing the Minion Zoo. Perhaps have a random event take place where the minion shows up in your zoo and you're not allowed to take it out (which I'm hoping would be easier to code since they are working on unremovable items in things like the wardrobe) because it's too weak or something. After training it to a strong enough level it changes form and you're allowed to own it as a pet.

Either way I would love other forms to achieve things on site and I think something like this is a great way. I just want as many things as possible tied to minion battling because I'm legit going to spend 10 hours a day battling.

That's what I thought at first too. There could be problems with the coding, like zumbi said. Nicholas's idea of using Minion Zoo might be easier (and brewing your own potions also sounds cool :) )

I don't know too much about coding, but what if the minion took your pet's name and stats and all-- it would basically be replacing the pet's picture and species name just like an elixir, right?

I like this idea but how about a twist on the original concept?

What about a minion that is extremely rare (follows you home from a random event, or lizard minions leave it behind). Perhaps call it a doppelganger. Once you attach it to your pet, it then will swap places with your pet. (There would be a warning stating that doing this will make your pet smaller and confused).

So now your pet is in the "minion position" and the weird minon item is your "pet". But instead of your pet being eaten, it is more of a visual place holder. The doppelganger minion can take on a shadowy outline of your pet's species with glowing eyes. Removing the "minion" will turn your pet back into a full-sized version of itself and the originally equipped minion is used up (can't be used again).

You have to draw alternate art for over 100 species including the experiments, assuming that we only do this for one color.

That's not something that's really viable at this point.

I like the basic idea.

Agreed that there should definitely be warnings.

Also disagree with the final pet changing if you don't feed/play with it. Once it reaches the final stage it should be done unless you deliberately change it with a potion/elixir.
