Sorry if this is in the wrong spot or has already been suggested!
I'm sure we've all done it, though: we've spent an item on the wrong pet by accident or changed our minds about how we want to develop a pet. The only way to remove books or food from our pets repertoire is to abandon/transfer them and hope to reobtain them, albeit at the cost of deleting everything put into them. Seeing as we can remove items from their treasure chests, I think it would be handy to remove foods and books from our pets as well.
I understand that this feature could end up effecting the Subeta economy if it got out of hand, though, and I think it would be reasonable to also attach a sP/CSC cost and have the item be deleted upon removal. I also understand that there is a dialogue box that asks for confirmation before using the item, but I'm sure not all of us pay 100% attention every single time we use an item on Subeta.
Just food for thought. Thank you!

For food, it's possible. Not so much for books, because of the intelligence stat, and how it affects alchemy points
I think the food items would look disgusting if pets had to vomit them everytime you got something wrong

As far as using it on a pet by accident, don't feeding and reading to your pet both have a pop-up window to confirm? I don't really agree with that excuse for that reason.
All excellent points. I just wanted to see how this concept would be received. Thank you for the feedback, everyone!

There is and OP mentioned such, but only if you're browsing Subeta with Javascript enabled. If you've disabled it, then there is no popup and clicking the wrong pet does happen sometimes. Personally, I only enable Javascript on the few parts of the site it's actually necessary (forums, vending, achievements, etc), and disable it as soon as I'm finished with whatever I was doing, so I almost never see popups.
I'd like to see an option like this but tbh I don't think it should give you back the item because it might be abused. For instance: feeding your pet a ton of stuff to get the achievement and then taking them all off and selling them. I would like to take remove food from their eaten list that I fed to my pets back in the day though, just because I don't like that a couple of them have one or two things eaten back before I knew about the lodge.
I think League of Legends has an option where you can refund skins and champs, but only like 5- maybe something like that? It allows for the occasional screw-up, but not for abuse. The question would be how many per pet or overall or per type (food, book, etc.) If this idea comes to fruition I would be delighted af because I've read a rare book to Neyu b/c she's right below Nalmourn, and those are alchemy points missed because I wasn't paying close enough attention 50 books into my reading spree.
Browsing a disabled site is a choice though. I agree that pop-ups are sufficient. No support.

I would usually not support such an idea because of the logistics (I mean how many of us have wished we didn't eat something we shouldn't have? Theres only 2 ways we have to get rid of that...) However, my pet is a vegetarian gourmand, and I have an absolutely busted, cracked computer screen, so i just fed him/her a scotch egg without seeing the description that a scotch egg (which, as a food, i am unfamiliar with) is made with sausage. Doh. I wish i could make Silvchai throw that up right now!
Edited to Add: No wonder s/he asked "Why are you trying to poison me?" when i fed it to them...I'm sorry baby I didn't know... tear

I would looooove this! I think the food eaten/books read should be way more customizeable. Now that I'm clearing out my hoard I'm finding lots of books and foods that would be great for a particular pets collection that I wish I could show off. But it's kinda pointless when I adopted certain pets and they came with like, random pumpkins already eaten or Guide To Stalking Keith as their only book read. Deleting items from these lists would be so helpful.
It's a huge wasted potential right now: we have the ability to feed and read every pet, but it's pointless for most people to do so. If we made those areas more customizeable it would be a reason for people to have multiple food and book collections, and good for the Subeta economy right? With everyone buying specific foods and books for specific pets, food and book values would be up.
The items can be totally deleted when removed, that's 10000% good. They don't need to be returned to inventory- it's customizing the collections that matter, not getting an item back.
No support. once it's read/fed it's gone, and it should stay that way. these aren't collections in the normal sense of the word, and even if they were, we can't remove things from official collections - I don't think food and books should be any different.
This sounds like a hassle. If we could remove food then it would mess with the gourmand achievement and books would mess with the intelligence stat so no support.

Once you eat something, it's gone. Once you read something, you can't remove having read that from your mind. Wouldn't make sense to remove them from the pets. I don't like the idea, but thanks for suggesting it anyway.
We have a precedent with the Enchanted Hypnosis Wand.
From a roleplaying point of view, I can see a Brain Scrubby Sponge or ECT that would erase 5 INT as a side effect and also remove that book and four random others from the list. You pay your sP and you take your chances. You wouldn't get the book(s) back though, only Scrolls are magical in that way
Many vegetarians who live in an omnivorous world have found themselves eating something like Retconol (tm) Ipecac Syrup that retroactively urps items up, then it too can be not so exacting and erase four random other foods too, because we often eat foods together. When you take something that makes you vomit, you don't get the foods ...back... though.
Ooh! I actually really like this Idea. For people who want the foods eaten page to reflect their pet's character (ie. a vegan or pirate who eats everything from Rathskellers Inn only), an item like Ipecac in the Millionaire Center would be a great resource. I know I would use it for a pet that my ideas for changed, after I'd fed her a few dozen foods that I'd like to see gone off her food list now.
I love this! "Doesn't make sense irl" isn't something that's held back other Subeta site functions. Having a Brain Scrubby or Ipecac item would be awesome, good excuse to not get the item back, and a great way to customize those lists.
No reason to have a collection work differently from other collections.
Could be a good sP sink. Maybe a service offered by the Healer? Your pet ate something that didn't agree with it, and she helps make it feel better. Perhaps she could ask for an item from Spells Galore, to make the medicine.
Silly idea, but it might be fun if there were unique items that could rarely come from this? Maybe your pet had swallowed something inedible, and it came up with the food. Okay, that might be too gross...
I can't see this messing with Gourmand much. It might be possible to abuse unfeeding and refeeding items for the achievement, but with a high enough sP fee, would it really be worth it?
I would LOVE this as an option. Either as an item or as an sP cost through either the Healer (foods) or maybe the Pet Zapper (books). I think there should be two options though: a very high sP cost for removing individual foods or books, and a lower sP cost for removing ALL foods or books. Removing books from your pet should also remove intelligence and alchemy points that were gained from those books.
I REALLY love this idea, because I've played Subeta while, uh, on ambien, and I've missed the correct pet to read a book / feed to, without realizing it was the wrong one, or without even remembering I'd done it until looking in my pets diets / books read and realizing things are totally messed up. And also I've read books to pets without a theme in mind, and then later on inspiration strikes me to keep a themed books read, or food eaten, but it's too late...
Even if books are tied to intelligence, there are other ways to receive IP, aren't there? It would just be the cosmetic removal of the book. Something like Ipecac would be a funny way to remove food from a pet XD and maybe a memory eraser for the books. Though on second thought, something that makes pets vomit might not be a good idea, since that's a bit insensitive to people who may have eating disorders and could be upsetting. Maybe something like Tums instead, which relieves stomach upset.
