I especially love love this for food okay. Because I've adopted a few pets over the years that've eaten random foods before and they just sit there mocking me. Like yeah I know you can easily hide the coding but I still know it's there and it bugs me? Like if I want to feed a pet it's because I go with a theme relevant to their character design.
I also think it'd be a fabulous sP sink, and really has no downside as long as the original food item is gone.IE your pet ate it, then barfed it up... you ain't getting your item back sorry. If you did it for the achievements and want a blank slate then you get a literal blank slate but can keep the 'chieve. Which is fair because it's not like you lose those if you sell junk from your wardrobe.
Books are trickier because for every book forgotten one AP would have to be removed as well. Otherwise you'd just delete those cheapy books and reread them dozens of times for infinite AP. Which I'm secretly okay with too I guess.
I adopted a few of my pets and they have had books read and food fed. I would prefer they read/ate NOTHING just because they are my pets now, I don't want someone else's baggage :P I would have to say I support this idea but if we're removing food or books from our pets, I figured they must be deleted and not enter back in the system like that.
i would be all for "books already read/food already eaten" list but I don't want anything to get in the way of my achievements
Almost two years later I still support this and most other ideas for further customizing our pets. :'D
This is still a good idea and I still support it.
I'm for this idea, so I'm going to ramble about it.
I've been adopting older pets out of the pound and messing around with them, instead of just making new ones. (I know, I know, I made a choice to do stupid things, stupid me!) If adopting them used to clear out their books/food, it doesn't any longer. Anyway, I'd prefer to get rid of foods and books that they came with. I can change their names, looks, gender, etc, but not some arbitrary list? It's not just adoptions either, I also have some pets that I've created and owned for years that I wouldn't mind 'blank slating' too.
"But there's a pop-up for book/food." Now there is. I fail to see how that's a strike against the idea. Do people really need to be punished forever because of a second long mis-click or tap? If only people were always perfect and pop-ups worked 100% of the time, there would never be any mistakes and this would not be a suggestion. But people, and technology, are both horribly fallible. ;)
"But the achievements!" It'd be no different than having a pet that ate the stuff for an achievement and then getting rid of the pet, except that I'm removing the offending things and keeping that pet. It's the same, except I'm spending money for removing items instead of the pet.
Put a big warning on the page about removing books and it resetting int and ap to the base stats and recalculated from that. Hell, make that warning two pages of big, fat warnings, not an easily skippable garbage pop-up. PIN protect it. Only let us use it once a month. Make it a gold perk. Whatever little walls you want, let those of us that want to do this, do this. Let me throw away my money on stupid things and increase my enjoyment of the game, as it's not really giving me any benefit (other than mental, I guess. haha.) over other players.
Really, I don't see why int/ap couldn't be recalculated for the pet after removing the books; I don't care if the pet I'm messing with loses 'extra' points it gained from spindles or REs, or whatever. For me, battle pets get everything pumped into them with no care about what it is, gourmand pets have to eat everything, with no care what it is. Other pets? I'd rather be more picky with and not have to keep the mistake of having accidentally feed/read to them or whatever some previous owner did (my pet now.).
And, even if someone wanted to take the time and their money to clear out their top tier, achievement listed pet... I do not see what that would hurt either? Removing the items shouldn't be free and, personally, I don't want the items I'm removing back, I just want them deleted from those pet lists! Plus, I don't think that anyone on the thread ever said that they wanted the items back, it was just assumed for some reason that we might? Seriously man, I don't need those cheap-ass items (multiple copies of The Slots? Random Ikumoradeekanox fruit? pfft. delete them.).
And, hell, since food/books keeps being compared to other collections: if someone wants to delete all their plushies/beanbags/pumpkins/etc, I do not care about that either. Let them, if it makes them happy. So, they worked their way up to an achievement and then got rid of/deleted the items? What/who does it hurt if that was allowed anyway? (but, that's really for another topic, I guess, if someone wanted to suggest it and not just compare the idea of that happening to this happening.)
Definitely still want this to happen and since we've had some food updates lately I want this to be on the table as a possible feature. :D :D
I've finally gotten my pet Hvala onto a cookie-only diet and now her "food eaten" is like its own special collection, and I've already been buying more items from stores I typically wouldn't to help her cookie count increase. I'd love to do this with some other pets I've adopted who have already eaten some random stuff, and especially I'd love to do this with some pets I've had for like 12 years who I fed random stuff 12 years ago. Please let me customize them properly!
And yes to clearing books too! Same reasons~
I see nothing wrong with this.
Only thing I want to add is IF pets could have books/food removed PLEASE make it OPTIONAL. Sometimes you see trained pets in the pound, some might have a lot of books read to them, would just be a waste of time if that just disappeared the moment they were in the pound. But if someone doesn't want that, if they have the option to do something about it, then by all means.
I agree totally, it would be a shame if those stats where cleared automatically and the appeal for me at least is customization, not some desire to blank-slate every pet that goes thru the pound.
, maybe there could be a cleansing pool for "cleansing" a food item of your choice from a pet?
I don't agree with books though unless it also removes all trace of the book having been read like intelligence and alchemy points.
I've adopted most of my pets and had to work hard to make sure that they all read the same books. It was very frustrating to find here and there one pet had read a book worth millions, which halted my progress in upping everyone's reading level.
I know it may sound silly and obsessive to some to have all pets having read the same books, but it makes me happy.
Right now I'm working on the same thing with food. So far I haven't run into any super expensive ones, but there are some questionable foods that don't really make a lot of sense story-wise for all my pets to have eaten. Again, it would be great if I could just erase those from the pets' diets.
I would advocate more for a targeted removal system than a blank slate system. And it should be optional, as said.
I personally don't care about getting the item back so much as making the pet who I want them to be in every way.
Absolutely agree. I even made a thread about this.
This is what my thread originally said:
SPOILER (click to toggle)
Knowledge and Gluttony leeches (or other ways to remove food/books)
It would be nice if there was an option to make a pet forget books (obviously, losing 1 intelligence point as well, and losing alchemy points if used enough times) and removing foods from its eaten list.
Why would one even need this? Well, I have adopted some pets from other people who have eaten quite a bit of stuff. I would like to remove those eaten items or read books from their list, and rework them so that every book read and every food eaten resembles what their characters and personalities will be about.
I know this is a weird request, but it's useful for people like me who want to further customize their Pets in more than one way. Those leeches could be sold in the coliseum (Hopefully as Easy-tier items since they do not help the user in any way).
It doesn't have to be leeches tho. There could be different methods to remove books/food. Maybe a Gold Account perk? Any option, I'm happy with them! This does not benefit any user outside of allowing them to customize further their pets. It does involve quite a bit of coding for it to be feasible. But I don't think asking is a crime! I would like to know if this thing is possible, or if there's any way I could help with it. My BF is a great coder and I'm sure he can work on something maybe if I ask him? Thank you.
If anyone has any other opinions to make this suggestion more approachable, please help me suggesting here! If you are against it, don't forget to say why!
I am against the clean slate idea. But I am all in for being able to forget eaten food or books read (Obviously, removing intelligence and alchemy points as well). I really am picky with what my pets should eat. And, if their character is let's say a scientist, it makes no sense for them to have eaten stuff like poop or diarrhea!
I wish I could somehow make my battle pet also my gourmand pet. As in transfer the "food eaten" info to him QuQ Being the resident gourmand of the gang just doesn't fit Alexa's character. (the pet had a completely different theme/character before)
I made the foolish decision back in the day when I would go after the stat achievements by training each stat on different pet (1st pet strength, 2nd pet defense etc.) ... It seemed like a good idea then!
Support from me, I have a couple of legacy pets knocking around my account and it seems like a bit of wasted opportunity that if I fed one of them in 2007 that's going to be there forever 😆
I'd happily pay whatever-amount-of-sP a piece to get rid of several things like that and start fresh
I'm really glad to have found this thread, because I thought I was the only one who would want something like this. I accidentally fed one of my pets a candy heart instead of adding it to my currencies because I was on mobile and someone was talking to me and... well, I wasn't paying enough attention. I would love to have this as an option.
I was just thinking about this idea recently and I'm glad there's already support for it! I'm definitely one to customize what my pets eat to fit their character. Most of my pets are adopted, and my pet Xew I decided to make vegan after already feeding him some animal based food. I'm all for being able to delete eaten foods. I'm fine with not getting the food back and I'm fine with it coming with a cost (I'd prefer it to be an sp sink), as long as we choose what get's deleted and it isn't random.
Same for books! I have less of of need for it, but others user surly might.
That gave me the idea to imagine Xew as having the animal foods he's eaten existing before he went vegan, since few are raised that why from birth. So thanks for helping me view him as less of a hypocrite! 😅
Ah, I was asking about if this is possible a couple of days ago. Was disappointed to discover it isn't.
Yes please. Folks change their minds. Folks discover that the food a pet has been fed is globally visible only after having fed them. Folks adopt pets from others who fed them a random/off-flavour diet. The exact same applies to books.
If selectively unfeed/unread isn't possible (because intelligence/achievements), allow users to selectively reset that one stat only and just start again from 0.
I'm pretty sure this would be a programming nightmare - it would have to backtrack and remove intel and AP and any related achievements for reading books, and the same for food: remove the eaten list, remove gourmand achievement total, and remove in any category of special other foods eaten achievements.
And what if that one item had meant you had received a couple of things (like a new tier with gourmand and a completed special foods achievement, or a books read tier and a special books read achievement) - how much work would it be for the system to ungive you those achievements/titles/achievement prizes? What if you sold off your achievement item award before you deleted the read/eaten item?
I'm sorry, but this just sounds like an absolute nightmare of programming and something that will create lots of backend server strain and lag to keep up. If you adopt a pet with a name you love but you don't want all the foods/books they've had...make a new pet and do a name swap and then toss the other one back into the adoption center. Then you've got a clean slate pet with the name you wanted. You can always do species/color changes yourself as well.
There is no need to remove achievements if you no longer have the food. As long as you already fed it once, why remove it? No need to be exact with intel and AP removal. You can make it so that using this feature ALWAYS removes 1 to 3 intel points and 1 AP point regardless. People who want their pets to have particular books will probably not care about AP, and this can always be boosted with stat boosters. It's a good compromise. You can't transfer pets IDs with name changes, so this is not the solution. The option to remove food and books do not have to be balanced. They can be punishments for the users who choose to partake in them, such as lower AP.
I'm usually all for customisation but... come on. I have celiac disease and I have accidentally eaten gluten (it's painful and not recommended). I don't know a single vegetarian or vegan who hasn't accidentally eaten something that they thought was vegetarian or vegan that wasn't, and every person I know with a nut allergy has that story about that one time they almost died from eating the wrong thing.
I also can't think of a single person I know who hasn't read a book and wished they could unread it, but they can't. Personally I would dearly love to forget a few books that started out enjoyable and then really weren't.
Sure, sometimes you play Subeta while sick or on medication that makes your brain do weird things. I was on opioids for a broken ankle that took forever to heal when I started playing this game. I got off them with medical MJ, but I can't say I've never played stoned at night even though I only use CBD products during the daytime. But lord knows, weed has also made ME eat things I wish I hadn't--like all of a cake, or tomorrow's lunch.
I've managed never to feed my pets poop, but if you adopt a dog from the shelter, you have no way of knowing that in its previous home it didn't have a habit of chowing down on .
I was all for removing stickers because sometimes the things they say can be sentiments you don't want attached to you or things that are accidentally triggering. But animals eating things they shouldn't eat occasionally?
I use my pets' TCs to make special collections. I have one pet who collects dolls, one pet who collects pastries, one pet who collects fashion related items, and one pet who collects...every item with a CI that is an Accidental Dong, lol. My lilac blob's life goal is to own all the flowers and all the bouquets. (I borrow the bouquets from her when I want to use them so I don't have to pay for doubles.)
I'm totally sympathetic to the feeling of ew that comes with knowing your pet ate something that you think is disgusting. But at least on Subeta you will never have to pay a vet $1000 to remove a sock from their digestive tract, that's something right?
