I was wondering if it would be possible to make certain types of shop names Subeta-illegal? I don't like to call anyone out, but shops like "Error" and "502 Bad Gateway Error" seem to be titled that way to make users who open items in tabs think the page has errored, and they have to re-buy the item. The amount of times I've bought several items from "Error" is ridiculous, just because of the mindset I'm in while I'm questing. I know I should be more careful, but I feel like people title their shops like this to make extra money off people.
No support.
I don't agree with subeta being censored. (Except for things that would not fall into the PG13 rating of this site)
Also, for shops that were specifically mentioned, if you look at the actual page, it is very clear that the purchase went through. If not, there would be an error (usually a red bar) on the page below the object.
Shop names are already censored. You cannot have any shop names with profanity in them. I'm not sure if this rule is enforced very well though.
Not gonna lie, this annoys me to all ends, but I'm not sure if it would be possible to monitor shop titles.
Obviously some things should be censored, such as racial slurs and other things that would fall above the PG13 rating. But the shop name of Error isn't one of those things.
Why censor shop names if your issue is with the fact that you think that shop is being used to scam people? Although could you walk me through how you get scammed? It takes less time to open up the tab and see that the item has been purchased than it does to close the tab and open a new one and buy the item again... So definitely no support for scamming purposes because you can easily (and should if you feel you are justified) make a ticket reporting the shop name. And if you want names removed still because they make you uncomfortable then that's just something we all have to deal with in life.

It's a bit annoying, but I'm always able to see that it's not a real error page.
No support.
Simple profanity that is allowed in the forums isn't allowed in shop names because I don't think they go through the site's filter for those who have it enabled.
If this is a legit way of scamming people, I don't have a problem with including it into the rules. The debate is whether people are doing this in order to increase their sales though. I don't think a simple "I don't like censorship" is a good reason because it's something that already happens and it is done to protect people.
The second half of my comment states how easy it is to tell that the purchase already went through.
Yeah and that's why I don't think scamming through this is an actual problem for most people.
not going to support this, as if you are buying blindly items high enough for this to bother you, you should slow down and check the page first to see if it did or didn't go through. it being a scam is really stretching things, the shop owner is probably just thinking they are clever. and they are! lol.
as said, I've even fallen for this myself questing and i find it amusing, move on and throw the item in my shop and resell it. it's not that big of a deal, move on c:
It's a scam and the those users needs to change the name or to get a warning/frozen. Don't be afraid to file a ticket and complain. I did it once because I lost 10mil and the user didn't want to bring me back my money..
I DON'T NEED TO BABYSIT EVEN THIS, ENOUGH! let me play the site without problems and triple checking all the time.........
I am actually on the fence about this. There was a time I was buying for a quest and I thought it had timed out with an error so I went to the tab and just refreshed. Since they had multiples of the item it bought another and that is when I saw that it was the name of the shop. So I honestly could see how this /could/ be used to their advantage.
I think a better solution though would be to where the tab just says "Buying from User Shops" or just "User Shops"

The title of the tab could be changed. Currently, if you buy an item, it shows that :
'Shop Name' - Subeta
Instead it could work like that
'Item Name' purchased from 'Shop Name' - Subeta
And people could still name their shops Error, but it wouldn' trick anyone. And you'd know by just looking at your tab that the item was purchased, or that you got an error.
(Because text affects the width of your signature, we suggest testing with all text removed to be sure your width is correct.)
I agree that this may be a fair solution, otherwise I'm for certain words to be excluded from shop names (error, gateway, 404 etc).
I also agree with re-titling the tab itself. I'll admit that when I see "Error" I assume that something went wrong but when I switch to the tab, I can clearly see it was bought. If you're still unsure you can check your inventory for the item. Other than that, if it was a real error, the quest wouldn't let you finish.
I got tricked a few times before I realized that the error was just the shop name. So they did make me have to pay better attention, to check shop names so won't buy from them even if they are the cheapest.

&;Shop Name&; - Subeta
&;Item Name&; purchased from &;Shop Name&; - Subeta
Supporting this idea fully because those "clever" shop names piss me off to hell and back. Especially if I'm rapidly questing just to get that online chore out of the way.
If Insane's suggestion was implemented, all the edgy kids can have their shop names and nobody gets shafted while questing. Win-win for everybody.
I don't know if I've ran into one of these shops but I support something being done. Changing the wording on the tabs sounds best.
It reminds me of the users who would put a floating flower (or pumpkin or whatever) on their banner so when you saw it you'd think it was there for you to grab, but it simply went to their flower page or trick or treating page. I think a while back we were told it wasn't allowed anymore?
