what is the problem exactly though? like how is this inhibiting you in any way? if you buy things from Error regularly and it's still causing problems for you, that seems to be your own problem lol

I don't understand. When you guys see that the tab says "Error" do you just go right back to the shop search without checking? Why wouldn't you at least check the page before buying it again?
I know what that "questing state of mind" is because more often than not I pay the bare minimum amount of attention I need to get the quests done as quickly as possible. You're clearly paying enough attention to what you're doing to notice the word "error", and even though that's enough to make you go back and rebuy the item entirely it's not enough to make you double check your inventory? You don't even really have to double check anything because if there really was an error in purchasing the item then you wouldn't have been able to complete the quest anyway.
I'm on the fence here too. On one hand, those titles really fuck with me but on the other, I got into the habit of checking the tab when I see that and it hasn't been a problem. I don't think it's really to scam, more of a "I'm so funny look how funny I am ahaha so funny me" title. If changing how the text shows up is a good solution, I'm 100% for that before enforcing any further restrictions on shop titles.
I think "it was an issue for me once but it's not now because I'm careful" is BS, honestly. You shouldn't have been tricked in the first place. I haven't fallen for that Error shop in a long time, but I did see it while I was questing the other day, and then immediately after bought from the Bad Gateway shop while we were having a LOT of issues on the site, and it really rekindled my annoyance with these shop names. Why should people have to take time out while questing just to check if the purchase legitimately went through, or if it's the shop name? It's clearly to trick people into buying multiple things, and that's beyond wrong. People aren't just trying to be cute - calling your shop "Error" is only cute for the owner when they see you've bought multiple things, and then, oh, what a funny gag. I like the idea put forward.
I'm mostly curious about how this happens though when questing, if you open the shop search from the quest item page, you still have to go to that tab to actually select the shop to purchase from..so wouldn't you see the shop name in the first place? just wondering..I'm not really bothered in general about it though..
As myself and others before me have pointed out, you don't have to take the time to check anything. If there was a real error then you wouldn't get the item. If you don't have the item then the quest fails and you get that stupid page with the red box. The problem is completely avoided by you ignoring the shops tabs and just completing the quest first. If you get the quest error then you go back and check your shops tabs to see which one failed.
As for the shop being a scam, that's completely your own perspective. Just like it being a joke is completely my own perspective. I remember noticing more joke shop names popping up after the last topic was made complaining about the vagina shop and had assumed this was one of them. If it is a scam then it's a very stupid and poorly done scam. It's incredibly easy to not be "tricked" by this.
If I absolutely had to have a way to avoid this then 's idea seems best. Though I think it's an non-issue entirely.
If they're questing like I do then it's just a lack of paying attention. Quests are such a chore to get through. I personally don't notice the shop name until I see them in the next tab and that's only because I'm watching/waiting for the purchase to go through so I can close it as soon as possible. I lose out on quests all the time because I'm blindly clicking through to get them done as fast as I can. The first result is the cheapest. By the time I realize the item I bought for Quentin was 100k it's too late to go back. Might as well finish the quest and get my 10k and stupid not-a-mage-amulet prize. Happens all the time and it's entirely my own fault really. The amount I focus I use on quests is pretty low. Half the time I have a movie running on the other side of the screen.
No support. This is not a scam, its a joke. Why do you not check the tab before you close it? Why don't you just use that same tab to re-buy the item (backspace) instead of opening a new one? If you did that you'd never ever double buy items over a shop name because you'd see if you actually got them or not. (Excluding when the entire site is acting up and having issues, of course.)
I don't really pay any attention when I'm questing either but I've never had a problem with this. Just take literally 2 seconds to check the tab. It won't have any affect on your wiz tokens or anything.
I'm fairly certain that'd fall under scamming anyways.

Those users are just looking for attention. Why give it to them? Make it a practice to glance at the shop name before you click 'buy'. Quests can get tedious and we tend to zone out while doing them so it's easy to get confused. I do agree it's a problem now, with the site having so many hiccups lately and perhaps certain users should rename their shops temporarily until things get straightened out...but we all know the won't.

How is it a scam? Honest question. Shop names like that have been around forever on every site. I've never seen them called a scam. If you don't bother to check and buy multiple you didn't get scammed, you didn't pay attention. That's on you.
Its not like people can code the page to say whatever they want. It shows very clearly if the page actually experienced an error or not. If those pages could be coded and were being messed with then yes it would be a scam. As it is now its just a joke. Not a particularly good one, mind you, but still a joke.
I don't like this Suggestion.
If staff feels that it's really a problem and not a solution in search of a problem, then 's version is better.
I think it's bloody hilarious! How is this even an issue? It's really not that hard to check the tab before re-buying an item.

Staff please help me because I refuse to take any responsibility for my actions!!!
Those shop names are just jokes. Jesus. Never joke around on the internet I guess.
I think and have the right idea. If it's no big deal and the shop titles aren't meant to scam anyone into buying multiples, then no one should be upset if the tab no longer reads the shop name. Bonus points, people who are offended by shop names/worry that kids in the house will come up behind them and read iffy words won't have to get upset about that anymore either. Everyone wins! ^_^
I think people name their shops that to be funny and not to try and get people to double buy. Definitely don't support the censoring. You just have to watch where you buy from. I do, and if I double buy, it's my own fault.
I've never actually fallen for the fake errors, but I agree that it's a dick move on the part of the owner to name it that regardless. Not sure I'd want to get into straight-up punishing people for doing it, but it's an unnecessary annoyance and not even a funny joke.
The "error" shops don't bother me as much as the body part ones, or ones about hurting animals. It's ridiculous!!
