Hello! I'd like to bring up Cults. They almost seem like dead content to me. I've joined a few, and most I've found to be inactive and the owner's account deleted due to inactivity. The layout for the Cults homepage seems outdated as well; the graphics aren't very eye-pleasing to me, and it looks a lot like the basic Neopets guild layout.

So what I'm trying to say here, is that Subeta could either get rid of cults... orrrr...

REBIRTH THE CULTS!

Subeta could make a new layout for the Cults homepage. Still with the same navigation, but having cult "themes" would definitely be a great idea! You could have cults within multiple categories; for exmaple, if a clan wants to have fashion competitions and games, they could go under both categories. Also, within cults could be multiple page options. Each page can be coded to the owner's/those with power's desires! Games, user profiles, competitions, stories, outfits, maybe even houses someone in the clan could make with paint or photoshop! However, there is a catch. You start out with one page, and with each cult comes a bank of sorts. With each additional page you add comes a (kinda huge) fee. That will only make the cult want to donate more! There can be ranks for those who donate and get items for this amount donated, or get clan points. Each clan can make that decision. Perhaps, as well, posts on the clan board could have meaning as well. (With spam protection, of course) Subeta could also set up site-wide events for each clan to reach goals. Clans could get prizes for each member who has been in that clan for over a month, or a trophy/icon for their clan front page.

So what do you guys think? Is my imagination running too wild, or am I just being too critical? All feedback and other ideas would be accepted with open arms!

Cults still exist but just using the infrastructure from the forum groups system. The old cults setup should be done away with to avoid confusion; imo it's obsolete. I hope this information was helpful. c:

It's just a broken technical thing that's taking up space at this point. Cults have/had been messed up for a long time but the forum ping groups and corresponding private cult forums onsite are a good solution. I'm actually not sure why the old system is still up. :)

I heard they were wanting to do a full reworking of the cult system from the ground up, and the new forum system was supposed to be a step towards that. Whether they end up doing that or decide to just work some cult features into the new forum system I'm not sure. All I know for sure is that the cult system revamp is on the back burner right now, and Keith's current top priority is getting the new wardrobe working properly.

I was about to say, "didn't forum groups silently kill off cults?" xD I definitely agree its pages should be removed from the site, since no one seems to care about cults anymore.

Obv the wardrobe is the priority right now and Subeta needs to really send as much resources to that as possible.

Apparently Cults is a system that's been broken for years longer than I've even been a member here? It really needs to just be removed from the site entirely until it's revamped. It makes Subeta look really unprofessional to leave such a huge broken system up and accessible for so long.

I site like Subeta could really benefit from a revamped cult/guild system, where players could have things like a cult homepage, cult vault, cult forum, etc. Guilds are a huge part of many MMOs and Subeta really only has a handful of them, at least one of which (Chic) is largely off-site now afaik. And I'm sure all are hobbled by the lack of cult support. Subeta doesn't have the framework to support these things but it SHOULD. With only the forum group system in place, I think a lot of newer or more shy players are intimidated out of joining into group activities b/c they don't know how to jump in or if they would even be welcome. Formalizing player groups into guilds helps streamline that by giving people an easier way to find and join pre-existing groups without feeling so much like an intruder.It also helps with new player retention b/c many guilds give out starter packs and can also help newbies get their bearings and meet fellow players.

I thought that went without saying, I should've made that clearer; ofc fix the wardrobes first. :) But you know what, you guys are right. Forum Groups have overrun cults. It's just content taking up space on the site that could be used for something else, ya know?

I'm totally against the removal of cults. My fondest memories of the site are grounded with my former cult, which unfortunately fell through the cracks a while ago. The lack of site support hampered our ability to recruit new members, which ultimately affected the overall activity.

The infrastructure is totally outdated and we had no use for the onsite boards - but I think the site should take ownership of cults once again, to allow the creation and nurturing of social spaces on the site. A forum group is a closed space whereas a cult is an open space. really brushes on this important difference. I'd feel imposing for jumping into a group chat and I've been here for over 8 years; I'd be totally intimidated as a new member. Cults provide a welcoming space to engage with like-minded individuals.

Yeah, that's really why I made this giant suggestion. I see a lot of potential in cults, and forum groups are... well... Forum groups! I love to graphic design, and making layouts for a cult would be so fun for me. Hosting games that could be updated on a custom layout of a page would be so fun, as well. I know what I was looking for in a cult was a social atmosphere that would cover all topics, so you made close friendships with people and shared ideas and... you know, just had fun!

I understand the other point of view, and see their logic as well. But I still have this feeling that cults COULD work. They COULD be something we benefit from and grow closer as a community. Maybe it's false hope, or a lost cause, but I do have dreams of having fun with others in our own ways.

Let's not.

Cults sat for almost literal years untouched and broken. Let's not repeat that.

There's no need for cults to come back now that most of their primary features have been added to the forum groups. Forum groups have replaced cults and there's just no reason to have both now.

I feel like I'm the only one who still actually uses a bit of the cult system. We long ago stop using the forums (other than to point new members to the ping group and offsite forum) but I keep our cult funds and items stored there still.

If cults get killed off completely the ping groups need a banking system. Unless they do already that I am unaware of.
