recently there's been a lot of lgbt additions to subeta (which is great), but i noticed that we can only pick male, female, or none for our genders. i think there should be more options or at least an 'other' option (aside from none). maybe even a fill in your own where we can pick our pronouns. i think it would be a great contribution to making the site a little more lgbt friendly.

More of a suggestion than feedback, but I don't see why we can't have an other option.

Completely support. It'd be really useful if pronouns popped up under our usernames in the forums or in the popup user info box, too!

Definitely in support of at least an 'other' option for gender.

Being able to add your own pronouns would be nice, but I get the feeling that some (not a lot, but definitely some) people would use it to make little jabs at folks with alternative gender identities or neo-pronouns by putting something sarcastic or intentionally ridiculous. Gotta stick it to those "special snowflakes," etc. I'd be in support of it if there were rules to keep people from being mean-spirited with it.

I would be on board with more options, but as Nepeta stated above, adding in your own would just cause too many problems. It should be used for the intended purpose and not to insult others. I think even if there were "rules" to keep people from doing this, they'll still break the rule. I mean how many people are going to go around moderating gender options?

I support an "other" option. But as stated, being able to write your own anything would definitely cause problems from mocking people. If you're talking about what displays on your profile, you can easily write on your profile what pronouns you prefer, and in your signature to display it on threads.

I'm okay with an "other", but adding your own pronouns are going to make some people upset.

Namely, the debate about nounself pronouns, and some people finding them a legitimate way to express their identity, while others think that a bunny or a dragon or a void cannot be a gender.

I figure girl/boy/other/none would be a typical array of selection for genders anyway, but I would hope that game-play remains gender neutral (ie, "ToT at their profile," "sent them a sticker," or just a username in place of any gendered pronoun) and not displayed on profile user displays! I think users are shown pet gender for pet profiles, yet still I see they/their ("their treasure chest") during gameplay which isn't awful imho (:

I can see the benefits of this but also, there are a ton of pronouns I'm not familiar with and in my experience, few who use those are actually willing to explain what they mean. So my question is to what extent are we going to do this?

I would appreciate and support an "other" option if it makes people feel more comfortable playing here. But I think things like this have been in the Suggestions forum before, and I thought Keith was open to them... ? I could be remembering wrong, though...

The suggestion for "other" is fine but the staff adding specific genders also runs the risk excluding someone.

Other than that it seems a bit redundant. Your profile, forum image, forum signature, and status are all already completely and easily customizable. Even more so if you take just the few minutes needed to learn how to edit text in HTML/CSS/sCode or whatever.

I haven't looked over whatever rules there are about it but I'm assuming that as long you're not using offensive language or pornographic images you're fine to put up whatever gender/pronoun info you want in those places.

I really thought this thread was going to be worse than it turned out to be.

I support "other" as an option as well. I'd comment about the fill in the blank with your own, but there's nothing else for me to say that hasn't already been said.

you may be thinking about removing the gender labels from body types in the wardrobe, Keith said he was going to fix that for v3. I don't recall a thread about this before but there very well could have been a similar one.

Ah, okay, that's what I was thinking of! I definitely remembered somethingggg involving gender options? But I couldn't remember if it was exclusively for the wardrobe or if it was a suggestion for site-wide things. Thank you for clarifying!

Good suggestion! I can't see any reason not to have more gender options.

I'd probably suggest a generic "non-binary" option as well as "other" and "none", but yes, good idea.

Supporting the "other" option!

I don't like how if you have your gender set as "None" it doesn't say "None" on the profiles, it's just blank.

could this be moved into suggestions?

Heh. I thought I had replied to this. Anyway, I'd be cool with an other, but not an input your own though as I agree that could honestly get out of hand pretty quickly.
