Hello everyone! :) I'll make this short and sweet. Are you a fan of the antlephore's "o_O" face, or do you feel like it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the site's pets?

Personally, I think it's cute but it's barred me from ever really wanting to own one. I absolutely love deer, but I find myself wishing it had more "normal" eyes. xD
Feel free to share your thoughts! I'm sorry if this is in the wrong topic. o:
I personally think it gives them character, a sort of "deer in the headlights" kind of vibe going on. The only thing I don't particularly care about in their regular art is the plain whiteness, but that's fixed in plenty of the other colors. I feel like they'd loose their charm and just be any other normal old deer, not an Antlephore, if they had 'normal eyes'
(I guess you could say... they have special eyes... //slapped)
I only loved one Antlephore and that was the old Nightmare one. Since the revamp that's over as well because I miss the old antlers and the emotionless face just too much. So now the Antlephore is one of many species that I have absolutely zero interest in. :')
- You make valid points! All of that kind of makes me like them more now. ^^
- Aw I'm sorry. :( Yeah, for me it's just sort of there? Idk I like a lot of the items, I just haven't really fallen in love with any of the colors yet. Maybe I should go look at them again...
It's okay. I had a Nightmare Antlephore for a long time but changed him as soon as the Bloodred Legeica was released. ^_^
This topic made me look through all of the colors that Antlephores can be, and realized that the ones I like the most are the ones that are more normal-eyed: Hydrus, Sweetheart and Glacier. I always figured I may one day get an Antlephore, but they have never been a "must-have" pet for me. I think the different eye size does give it a cartoonish look, but that it still fits in with the general style of a Subeta pet.
The one species I never could own is a Darkonite, the exposed brain thing just really is too strange for me. I understand them more now with the SubetaPedia entry, so I am hoping the SuebetaPedia entry will explain the Antlephore's mismatched eyes.
Yeah, I seem to be in the same boat with the antlephore colors! And I don't think I could ever own a darkonite, either... They aren't a pet that really appeals to me in any way. I'll have to go read the Subetapedia entry now, though.
I must admit, I don't care for the eyes. The eyes give a drawing personality so I don't get any warm fuzzy feelings when looking at this creature. However it does give you that flashback to the old little orphan Annie cartoons. They were just as creepy.
Serious Telenine Collector at work!
the longer i look at the eyes the stranger i find them. imo they're pretty hard to notice on most of the non-basic artwork. i do have a reborn one, but i don't think i could ever take one of the basic ones seriously. at the same time i feel like they're almost like a classic? i'm pretty sure the art on them hasn't been updated since when i joined when i was a kid, and without those eyes on the basic colors it just wouldn't be the same.
OMG yes that's what it is exactly that is odd with the Antlephores, they looks like Little Orphan Annie cartoons! Thank you for pointing that out! They have that weird creepy sort of vibe to the cartoon style!
It was one of the first pets I remember liking when I joined the site, and I own one so yeah I'm obviously biased toward them.
Antlephore's eyes made much more sense in fitting with the other pets of Subeta back when a much more simplified, cartoony style was the norm of the site. However that was years (and in most cases for pets that existed back then, at least two revamps back by now). The Antlephore is odd in that compared to other older pets, its really only had one revamp from its original art. Also, the o_O face existed on the Antlephore back before there was the standing rule about pets not really have emotions in their standard forms. While that got rid of things like the Telenine's exuberant grinning, the Antlephore kept its o_O face. I can only guess as to why. My only theory is that without the funky eyes, the Antlephore doesn't currently have anything distinct enough to really be anything other than a common deer? Not that I think common deer is a bad thing.
