(I realize fan-fiction doesn't constitute "literature", so excuse me for putting it here.)
Yes, I know I'm a dweeb, but I've been on a big fan-fiction kick recently, so much that I've converted a couple stories into .mobi so I can read them on my kindle.
I'm currently reading a couple different Harry Potter works, and I just started an Avatar the Last Airbender one as well.
Feel free to share your experiences/interests. :)
🌸Seeking:What, no other fanfiction readers here? I spend most of my time reading stories from Twisting the Hellmouth. I LOVE a good crossover.

I actually wasn't too big on fanfiction until a friend of mine got me to read some very well written WH40K fanfics. They killed off my prejudice against fanfics and got me to start enjoying Warhammer again.
I haven't read anything from that site yet, but I'll put it on my radar. What sort of crossovers do you read? Which shows/movies?
I'll bet the Warhammer works are very intricate/enlightening, as the game is a very creative thinking one as is, from what I understand.
I don't have any real-life friends who read fanfic. I think a lot of people scoff at the idea, but my boyfriend explained that comic books, especially the superhero variety are based on the same idea. A lot of different artists and authors put out different books/series. There must be hundreds of different Batman producers, for example. Fanfiction is the same, except the authors don't get paid to do it. It takes a lot of appreciation and dedication for such authors.
🌸Seeking:I dabble over at fanfiction.net and AO3, but TtH is my favorite spot. You can find just about any crossover with BtVS you want there. I favor NCIS, Stargate and The Sentinel crossovers there, with Xander as the main character.

brooo i frickin love fanfiction… i read and write homestuck fanfics, mostly shippy stuff (davekat is my personal favorite) and a lot of, ahem, salacious stories.
(honestly i actually tend to forget that there are actually people who don't read/like fanfiction.)
Oh, I love fanfiction. I'm writing a really long one as we speak (~40 000 words and counting). It's fun, though sometimes I wonder why the hell I decided to embark on this project, lol.
I just want to give you a high-five for excellent taste in ships. Also I just realized there's probably so much Davekat out there now that it's basically canon -- I haven't read any fic for Homestuck in like three years and it was definitely a smaller ship back then.
yep, davekat is currently the third most popular ship on ao3, right after johndave and rosemary. i think i got into davekat right around the time they became 'bros' in canon, so it definitely wasn't as big as it is now.
Wow, it's really taking over, then. I remember when I first got into it and we were all like "this is gonna be a blackrom 100%" and now...not so much.
D: Fanfiction is great. Well not all fanfiction is great, but well written ones are really worth reading. I'm not very into crossovers but I read them from time to time. Anyone here read fanfiction for manga?
I've also been writing a pretty long fanfiction (~70k words right now :D) and yeah it's definitely a lot of work. Do you get beta readers to help you out? And if you don't mind me asking, what are you writing about?
My deviantArt! [tot=Rabunny]
Oh, wow, that's impressive. No, I don't have a beta on this one, I'm just going for it by myself.
I don't know if anyone here likes Elfquest, but I've gotten hooked on a retelling/Alternaverse that is extremely ambitious. http://www.janesenese.com/swiftverse/tales.html

Fic is my lifeblood tbh, there's always something for every mood. My current love is Silmarillion fic. In canon, you only get to only have a brief glimpse of the characters since the Legendarium is much more based on what occurred than how the characters felt about such things, so fandom's interpretations of the characters definitely helps you give them a whole lot more flesh around their bones, especially if the fic headcanons align with your own.
My current most favorite fic is a massive (220k + and counting) on-going modern AU fic of the high elves of old, and it's absolutely delightful and hilarious, and dramatic enough to last me a lifetime.
I'm horrible shipper trash, but I also crave family dynamics and overall seeing different interpretations of certain scenes etc. Just give me all the hurt/comfort and I'll be yours forever.
I also quite enjoy Dragon Age fic, but since most of the fics contain custom characters of the authors' own OCs, they usually just make me want to write my own stories down instead.
I'm glad to hear others live in the realm of fanfic. I've really been wanting to read The Silmarillion; I'll bet there's some phenomenal fanfic for Tolkien's works.
That's really true about the fleshing out characters. The current work I'm reading (HP-related) is 750,000 words long, which is ten times longer than the first book in the series. It has loads of character development. I'm going to be sad when it's over. I haven't gotten into much shipping yet. (Just learned what that term means.) But I think I'd enjoy certain pairs from different works, especially some unconventional ones. :p
I'm sure game-related works (such as Dragon Ages) are enlightening. I really like the D&D franchise; I'd like to eventually try some of those. Although, since there are actual novels out, I might go that route first.
🌸Seeking:I really love Fan Fictions. To see what others saw in a book or how they understood a scene from the book or movie. Really love it. Most I read Harry Potter and Twilight and NCIS fanfiction.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't read it much anymore, but in high school? I LOVED it. I mainly read Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfiction (BtVS was my favorite show, so sad when it ended.) I did have a fanfiction website (a very, very horrible one) for a soap opera at one point Every now and then I will look up fanfiction for other TV shows. Whenever I watch a show, I wonder if people see the same chemistry between certain characters that I do.
I love fanfiction. Er, I love well-written fanfiction. I have some fairly regular (and even canon) ships, some not-so-conventional or common or whatever. I like a lot of different kinds of fanfiction, though action/drama/intrigue are my favorites. I do get hooked on fluff now and again as well.
I write some fanfiction, and I'm writing one that's ~20k words right now (yes I'm a huge nerd, it's for NaNo) :P

I love reading and writing fanfic and have been doing both for... God, like 13 years now haha. I remember when a friend of mine at school one time mentioned fanfiction.net. I got home that night, started reading, and got hooked. I published my own first fic later that same week.
I write for a lot of fandoms, lately it's been mostly Torchwood, though. I read lots of fandoms, too, but lately it's been mostly Star Trek reboot fanfic. Lots of fun!
I've read a couple good fics There is a Disney/Disneyland fanfic called Crowns of the Kingdom and, oh my giddy aunt, it is so good. It took the author five years to write because she did so much research into the history of Disneyland. It deserves to be published.

i've been reading fanfic for over 15 years now and writing it for 9 (i took a long hiatus some odd years ago though) and i can say, with the exception of livejournal, AO3 is the only consistent site for decent to amazing fanfic unless you find an author who posts on an independent site they run that produces high quality work.
also, for the love of god, if you love a story... back that up on a text file. i've seen authors pull beloved stories either because 1.) they signed real deals with publishers 2.) they felt the quality of the fanfic did not accurately represent their current writing style/proficiency 3.) being shamed later down the road. its tragic, really.
i remember back when the sites on sycophanthex were all the rage for HP. i miss those days. i also remember modding a anon fanfic gripe community that had a huge HP flame war, but i can't find the name of it for the life of me (later edit: anonficreviews). oh well its been defunct for years :C
i've been in so many fandoms now, its hard to keep track. HP, BTVS/ATS, bandom, fringe, heroes, a LOT of minor ones... i'm much more reclusive now and mainly just read diehard pairings or new things that spark my interest. i'm VERY interested in seeing what MSR stories come from the x-files revival. other than that you can find me chilllin' reading ten/rose, fem!shep/garrus or reylo and minding my own business.
